Hey, I was thinking and I realized that there really isn't a "tank" in this game.

Are there any builds that are complete tanks for the current pvp? You all know the classic, eats everything and won't die, but at the same time can't kill anything. I think that'd be hotness...lol. Of course you'd be Bm'd? :whistling:

Maybe an energy shielded sorc with insight, BM with mana pots. The great thing about these is that you still have enough points leftover for some spells. I think a common damage spell is blizzard, but I'm not sure. If you looked around the sorc thread you'll find a build, or at least some good info on how to start one.

Edit - The only damage you will not be able to 'tank' is poison, or OW. And WW sins, and BvCs often make use of this. But from my experiences in this game, every build has a nemesis; some other build that it just can't easily deal with, hence why there are not very many PvP 'tanks'.

bearzon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du5Nhjd-lCw

thats a d2pk status bvc btw, in case there are any doubts about how many hits/how much damage the zon is taking

other tank builds, es sorcs loaded with 70/15s (east only) tank a lot, Ive seen some attempts at "wall sorcs" which use mass 7015s, bearform, and cold armors to tank and kill of melee players, but they cant do anything vs casters. druids and barbs can get a lot of hp and tank considerable amounts.. but keep in mind everything in pvp does a lot of damage.

You could use integer DR but Grief ruined a lot of that. DR like Damage Reduced by X amount would reduce base weapon damage to the point where it would almost do nothing. That with mass res and sorb would make a monster tank... I've looked into doing this as well haha.

I'm pretty sure integer DR works like that.
If so, grief ruined it because grief adds up to 400 base damage which means it's almost inpossible to negate it.

I have come across a few good tanking builds in my time dueling, only one of them was really a serious contender as a duelist though, the others simply didn't die.

Build one: Bearzon. These things are monstrous, max block coupled with huge dodging and high life... Gyah! They just get tank and tank and tank. They are kind of lacking in the offense department though.

Build two: Regen charge/pallys, they don't tank so much as not die. Maxed Prayer means that they can fill up a life ball in 30 or so seconds when they swap to that Insight of theirs while running Cleansing. They hurt a little with Charge as well. But they are not really decent duelers provided you stick with them.

Build three: Guardian Angel Sorceresses. I personally love this build, even if I see it as horrendously hard to pull off. Guardian Angel allows for max block with pretty much anything as well as straight 90 resistances. Of the very few I have seen, pure Vita seems to perform better, but 95 poison resist could alter that... On the offense they are pretty good, but cast rate is a little low in most cases. I guess it is just too hard to find those resists.

A barbarian with some Damage Reducting gear, +max life, maxed BO's and lots of life and block/def would be nice too but Bearzon sounds like the best choice for "tanking".

EDIT: i'd recommend Stormshield, Shaftstop, Shako and String of Ears which together will get u 90% Damage Reduction and add max block and lots of def into that and your pretty much invincible (if you want to use bearform u have to sacrifice 10% damage reduction).

Nah, you shouldn't need to wear all that damage reduction % gear. DR% caps at 50% so you'll just be wasting gear space that could be put to other uses.
