Are they the same thing, and do they stack? Like if I were to put a few points in CS so that i've got around 50%, and equip a Clegaws Tooth (+50% Deadly Strike mod), would it combine to make 100% Deadly Strike?

The are in practical use the same thing, but they dont stack(50%+50% aint 100%). I dont remember how to calculate the % of doing double damage if you have some of both. But they work like this: If you have 50% CS, you have 50% of doing double damage, if CS doesnt kick in, then you have 50% chance of DS kicking in.

They do the same thing, but they don't stack. They are rolled seperately, and if one roll is successful the other is skipped (you never do 4x damage).

With 50% CS and 50% DS you'd have a 75% chance to do double damage.

(chance% = %CS + (1-%CS/100)*%DS)

Does the same apply to the Barbarian's Mastery skills?

Yes.

Note however that barbarians will have much smaller numbers of critical strike making deadly strike more important for a barbarian then for an amazon.

Also note that critical strike from masteries does not stack with the amazons critical strike either.
