Just a minor question.

Suppose I use the Act5 socket quest to add a socket on my homu and put a p diamond in it. If I later upped it to bloodlord skull using the cube formula, will the p diamond vanish??

No the diamond would stay. If you up an item its only the base that changes. All mods, Open sockets, or runes in sockets will stay.

Just be aware that it's likely going to hurt more than help. A Nec can easily get by with a final strength stat of no more than 80, yet the upped Homunc will take 106. At that same time, the average defense on a Hierophant Trophy is 64, and that of a Bloodlord Skull is 126. Sure it's twice as much, but in real world terms where Barbs and Pallys walk around with over 10k Defense, you're never going to build a high-def Nec. At the levels we're dealing with, 200 more isn't going to help.

Keep the Homunc unupped. If you're filthy rich, use an Um rune instead of a PDiamond.

I agree with curby, on characters that have skills that give a bonus to defense, upping is a good idea. But since a necro has no def boosting skills, upping is really pointless.

In fact, I thought bloodlord skull has a higher chance to block than hierophant trophy. That's the only reason I am thinking of upping the homu. If this is not the case, then probably I will keep it as it is.
