Pure Uber Smiter

Read plenty guides (like 1 pnt smite guide) and it makes me go dizzy. So many people give so much different advice. But most talk also about using the build in PvM or PvP or combine with Zealer or Hammerdin. I wanna make a smiter only to do Uber. Period.

At the moment I'm using a Zealer/Fana with 1 point Smite using Grief/ Exile/ Kira/ Fortitude/ Tgod/ Mara/ Raven/ Rare ring 10ll with str and life /Gores/ Dracul's for Mephi and after killing her switch to CoA/Zaka. But I'm not very impressed by the result. Sure I can do Ubers without any problem but fast? Not in my opinion. Maybe my line-up is compleetly wrong but if it would work I wouldn't be posting here :whistling:

What I wonder is what you would choose for gear/skills if you could get (or maybe already have) all the items for your ideal pure uber smiter build.

I, myself, struggle most with the question which other gear to use with either Last Wish or Grief. What gloves, like no Dracul's when using Last Wish but what then to use? What shield has the upperhand? I'm under the impression that Grief/Exile and Last Wish/Upped Zakarum are favorite combo's. Should I switch to BOTD BA when cleaning the minions? Some people praise CoA, other prefer Guillaume's Face? I'm under the impression that the DR from the CoA ain't very neccesary with all them Lifetap.
Same for all the other gear except maybe Gores. All seem to be unanimous on the boots.

Maybe I need to read all over AGAIN to get the picture but atm I'm pretty uncertain what to choose.

Any help would be well appreciated.

If I was using LW PB (and I will tell you why I'd use it over grief later) I'd use this setup:
LW PB
enigma (if you want to completely solo, so you can tele to mini ubers yourself, also even without resists from my armour, I find my own smiter has 66 lite res against conviction)
OR coh
OR smoke (nef + lum 2os armour) <-- very cheap armour for 50 res
kiras
highlords <-- DS and 20ias(so you don't need ias gloves), AND LIGHTNING RESISTS!, wow can't get any better!
upped um'd hoz

your choice of gloves, boots, rings
although I'd recommend these:
draculs, gores, raven (to help w/ the dex req?) and dwarf

lifetap, check
mass resists (+fade from lw pb), check
crushing blow (60+ from lw pb) check

The reason I'd use lw pb over grief is this: It has so much crushing blow, a nice might aura to help boost your damage (although you still won't do close to as much as each hit with grief), fade, lifetap. All in one weapon. It easily hits the last bp with highlords. Lw pb just adds so much flexibility.
If you want to use grief, your equipment selection becomes stricter because you have to make up for lost CB via guillaumes gores etc, then you lose the ability to stack mass resists with kiras.

So trust me, if you want to make a PURE uber smiter, go lw pb. I've tried it both ways. Sure with grief pb + coh etc you will still do very well, but imo it's just a lot easier gear wise with lw pb. Remember this is for a PURE uber smiter. If you want to be able to zeal and pvp smite, grief is the way to go.

My personal uber smiter, is actually my hammerdin. I put one point in fanat and basically use the setup I listed above. Except I use arachs/trangs for less gear switch and some fcr when hammering/teleing minions and ubers. I have about 1.1k smite damage, which I find is more than enough to do ubers. I finish them quite quickly. My pure smiter had about 2k with lw pb.

I think my suggestion is solid but I don't know, maybe someone out there can come and argue against lw pb. But personally, I just see lw pb being a lot greater than grief for uber tristram.

evils poitns are all valid, and sense you already have grief you dont lose anything from getting LW

you can still use you grief for non ubber work, and when you go in to ubbers toss on that LW, I know alot of zealot 1 point smiters that have a weapon just for ubbers, i have seen some use death rune word (i wouldnt but what ever). LW takes care of your life tap and crushing blow so that right there opens up a ton of gear options

id say give it a go, again its not like your losing anything from it

The 380 damage, unlike any form of damage--max, min, per level, or enchanted--is added and multiplied wholly to smite, making you up to a 10k smiter. Ouch! Rude, rude.

So how is a legit person even romotely going to get even one of these HR's let alone all of them?


FYI..The LCS will not show the damage added to your smite attack from the Grief runeword.

the character screen doesnt show your real damage, read the 1pt smiter guide.

LW has great mods:
Massive chunk of CB (little need for Gulli face, Duress, Gores)
Life Tap (remove the Dracs)
Fade (no need for prebuff Treachery).

With these 3 ingrediants, you can use things like Kiras, CoA, LoH etc. Speaking of which I would recommend LoH since the healthy 50% Fire res works well with the massive 350% damage to demons and the 20%IAS.
As for your armour, I would now choose CoH and reap the even more 200% Damage to demons, damage reduction and massive res (Take That mephi).

Now if you want to go with Grief, you need to cover all the things that you're now missing. Need Life Tap (go for Dracs or Exile), no crushing blow now means you need a gulli face and/or gores (keep the CoH though).

evild has already said. With LW the build is centred around it and you have more freedom because it covers all the crucial necessities that good uber chars have.

Little note on grief to gwaipor - it doesn't properly show. But once you use it, and notice that monsters go down in 1-2 chops then you will realise that greif is actually a very powerful weapon. In my opinion the king of pure physical damage.

You still haven't addressed the way in which one acquires an LW, legitimately. I have to spend 8 hrs alone for a barb merc LW (eth colossus blade, down to 1 endurance).

lol true but judging by this fellas gear list (grief, exile, forti) he looks like he's in the position to ready trade for one or acquire one by other means. Sure I've also had grief, Forti but not Exile. It just takes patience and hard work (or a lucky break)

Ok atm you have very little CB. 15 from gores only. You could change to LW for everything an uber pal needs in one item just about but... damage will still be lacking towards the end of the kill and i doubt it will be any quicker overall and this was your major problem with the last build. If you want the fastest kills then

Max Smite
Max Holy Shield
Max Fana

Do what you want with rest

You need to change your helm to a Guillaume's Face (um rune it) to take your CB up to 50
Add crafted Gloves with 10cb to go even higher.
Grief PB
Exile for Tap
Fort for max dmg
Gores

That's about as much as you can do dmg wise, It's what i use and it's very fast. So you only really need to change your helm.
