View Full Version : My solution for mages so far

I have not maxed out the mages yet, but I have a premature opinion I would like to express.

I do not have Infinity, but the 7 mages that I have at the moment provide a real nice safety net for my rear and sides when I am outside. When I am in indoor areas, however, they do block my skeleton warriors at doorways and really annoy me.

The solution that I have come up with is to de-summon the mages down to around 3 in number. That way, there is less likelihood of the doorways being blocked, and at the same time, I still have some backfield support to depend upon as I battle room by room.

I am guessing that for the Arcane Sanctuary and Maggot Lair I will desummon all my summons except for 1 or 2 occasional skeleton warriors.

Anybody else think this is a good idea?

Whatever that works is a good idea^^.. i didnt realy use my mages indoors untill i got my enigma.. but in tight spaces i just de-summoned most of my skellies to let my merc come to the front, and the rapidly summon new ones on the other side.

I picked up a spell steal axe, it has tele charges on it (30 I think). I have to be more conservative with teleing than I did with my enigma. But I found that the charges are enough to get me through an entire mf run (meph, andy, pindle, shenk, eldritch, pits), I just go to town and sell my items and repair and I am ready for the next run. It really helps.

You could always terror the monsters in tight hallways (Arcane Sanc, Maggot Lair), until they build up, then let the skeleton in the front get his one painstakingly slow kill, and CE the group.

For those budget minded Necromancers out there: You can shop a teleport stave in most places past normal.

Just be careful when switching between your shield and the stave, as your resists will drop from the resist loss.

Another method, that isn't any safer, is portaling out and then jumping back through to get your "minion stack" going.

Peace!

I did the portal thing for a while and it worked, but the tele charges are better for two reasons.

Tele is faster than going in and out the portal.

Sometimes when you go out the portal, the baddies will gather around the portal, so when you come back in, you will find that you are surrounded, this is sometimes fatal.
