View Full Version : Last Wish PB Dreamer - A Good Idea?
So, last ladder I made a zeal dreamer pala with a botd BA, and he was awesome, great char to play, didnt get boring.
I was thinking though, how about a pala with these items:
Last wish pb
dream shield
dream helm
goreriders
forti/coh arm
Skills:
20 on convic
20 on zeal
20 on sacrifice
20 on resist lightning
20 on holy shield
rest on defiance.
I think the combination of 80-85% crushing blow + convic and holy shock will dish out some serious damage. And ofc with a pb as the weap it will deal the light dam super quick.
Any thoughts on possible flaws/advantages to this build? Ill be using it mainly for PvM btw, I know zealers are limited in PvP, but im sure he could still take out a decent chunk of chars.

The lw pb is kind of slow without fanat (granted, it's the fastest weapon in the game but still quite slow) Plus, the runeword itself has no ias. IIRC you need ~70. I'm too lazy to think atm about other flaws, so that's all I can say for now. I'm not even familiar with the dreamer runewords, so excuse me if they have ias on them or something.
It'll quite simply be a bit slow, other than that it's just an ordinary dreamer, huh? So try out lw, if it doesn't work switch to another weapon.
Well, from looking at a weapon speed calculator, without any IAS itd be 6 frames per attack, 13% IAS would give 5 frame and 72% IAS would give 4 frame.
Surely 5 frame attack is pretty quick? And even then, with 20% IAS gloves and a faith merc it would easy make the 4 frame breakpoint, and would be dishing out some serious lightning damage and cb.
*Edit* The reason why it isnt an ordinary dreamer is because it would have 80-85% crushing blow, would take out groups or single big enemies no trouble.

Why do you have Conviction; it's superfluous. Salvation is more than good enough vs uber Mephisto. Redo, and this time, 20 on, say, Defiance, and put the rest on the one point DAura wonders.

Switch the LW for a beast BA ? You can have conv and fanat running with your pulsing shock auras giving you a fast, high damage, high elemental, convicted zeal ;D

I had one of these last season on the hardcore ladder lvl 89. My skills were as follows:
1 Sacrafice
5 Zeal (just enough for 5 hits)
1 Smite
1 Charge
20 Conviction
20 Lit Res
20 Fant
17 Holy Shield
Rest in Salvation and other prereq skills (I was lvl 89 so just on the verge of max'ing out Salvation)
My gear was as follows:
VoR Phaseblade
Dream Troll
Dream Bonevisage
COH Archon Plate
T-God's
Raven/Dwarf rings
up'd Goblin Toes
Drac's Gloves (if I used Grief)
On Switch (For boss/uber/clone killing):
Lastwish PB
(Grief in Stash)
Hoz
I actually was able to find a Lastwish before I could find a Grief and later tested the two to see which one I liked better. The Lastwish that I had was only like 338% ed but it had a perfect 70% Crushing Blow. Combined with my Goblin Toes, I had 95% CB with that setup. My Merc was an act1 rogue with a Harmony bow that gave me a vigor aura that helped speed things up. I'd charge around if I needed to go faster.
Now most people will say go with a Grief because it does ridiculous damage with smite and it is like 100 times cheaper than a Lastwish. The thing is, I was pretty much immortal when I used my Lastwish. If I ubered or fought a boss, upon weapon switch to my Lastwish I'd change my aura over to Fant and smite away. Lvl 18 Lifetap is crazy combined with lvl 11 Fade. You'd be hitting Uber Diablo with hundreds of spawns surrounding you and not even have to use a rejuv because you were leeching just fine as long as you were hitting. Don't use your Drac's gloves with your Lastwish as the two lifetaps will over-ride each other, so you go between lvl 10 lifetap to lvl 18 lifetap.
For the first 80% or so of a uber/boss's life a Lastwish would bring down the bar just as fast as a Grief, if not faster because of the 95% CB. It was the last little portion where you noticed that a Grief never slowed down and powered through.
In Hardcore, survivability is the most important thing so you can't build glass cannons. The typical Dreamer setup is more than ample, except there is no need to max zeal or sacrifice since I used a VoR (a Rift will also work, but VoR is 10 times cheaper and just as effective in my experience) which makes your damage primarily elemental. This also meant that Iron Maiden didn't kill me, I could actually swing 2 full zeals and still have about half my life left so there were no accidental deaths to pesky Oblivion Knights. The points saved from Sacrifice and Zeal are used in beefing up your Dream holyshock pulses. Since you are using the Conviction aura with your dual Dreams, when those frozen orbs proc, you clear areas so fast its stupid.
