View Full Version : "The Demons Dance" - D3 Original Song
Hey guys! This isn't a wallpaper but I figured the fan art forum was the best place to put it. I wrote and recorded a song I thought you might enjoy, something I'm going to submit to the Original Song contest for BlizzCon, and wanted to get some feedback on what Diablo fans think of it. It's my sorry attempt to impersonate Deckard Cain as he sings a song about demons, um, dancing!

I also did a /Silly bit which is an even sorrier attempt to impersonate Deckard Cain, talking about a sexy heroine he used to *ahem* "teach" which I call "Dirty Deckard Cain." Audio file is here: http://media.putfile.com/Dirty-Deckard-Cain
Hope you like.
it's a good song, and your cain accent is passable. Better speaking than singing, but since we've never heard Cain sing (and never will, please god) who can say?
However, if you want to have a shot at winning something at blizcon though, I think you need to rework the lyrics to get in some more game quotes and references. Aside from the mentions of mephisto and baal and such, it's not real Diablo-specific. And since you're doing it as Cain, put in a bunch of his famous lines. "stay a whlie and listen" in the chorus, "thank you my friend," etc.

you can see all of his dialogues in the wiki, if you want inspiration.
Thanks for listening man, much appreciated and glad you liked it. =)
I figured I'd post the lyrics while I'm at it. I think you're right as far as the chorus goes; there isn't much specific Diablo referencing happening there, but I think the lyrics do a pretty good job of telling the story of both games while maintaining an internal rhythm that keeps my foot tapping. The song that won the contest last year was a full band rock number about Illidan from Warcraft, and you couldn't even really make out the lyrics until the end when the female singer said, "You are not prepared" lol. So... at least this is something different. =)
First Verse
I am Deckard Cain
And I've come to tell a tale of woe
I've seen many a hero die in vain
For they did not heed this call
The only thing that evil fears
Is a heart that's pure and a will that is strong
The barriers of hell have held ten thousand years
But tomorrow they shall fall
Chorus
And the demons come at night
And dance until the light
Of a hero worthy of song returns
To the battle to finish the fight
Second Verse
I was there when Tristram fell
To the Lord of Terror and his minions of Hell
Until a stranger came and saved us all
But we do not know his name
Mephisto and Baal, the brothers grim
Sat upon their thrones of human remains
Until Tyrael came and broke the stone
And damned us all to a future of flame
Chorus
[Musical Bridge]
Third Verse
Now we wait for fate to decide
Whether to clean off the slate with our genocide
Or to grant us mercy, Heavens above
Of even you we must beware
But I have faith in the faces I see
We will not lay down or go easily
Sanctuary shall cast evil out
For they are not prepared.... for YOU
Final Chorus
And the heros of the light
Will dance all through the night
With the goblins and ghouls and dastardly fools
Who dare challenge the might of the light
I've tossed up a downloadable version of the song in case anybody wanted it. I'm hoping they announce the contest deadline this week, I'm pretty excited. =D

Its very good mate. Maybe you should improve a bit you accent at some points, but its very nice. Also playing more minor chords than major ones, maybe it would create a better sound atmosphere
Just one thing, it's Tyrael.
Fixed. :D
Thanks for the input guys. Yeah I'm definately no Michael Gough when it comes to Deckard Cain (the original voice actor) but what the heck, it was fun to make!
NOOOOOOOOO!
They imposed a 2 minute length restriction. My song is 3:40... craaap. I don't want to cut stuff but I'm going to have to now. =(
