Hi im thinking of making a Light Sorc in Classic (max Chain Light). Just wondering if this is viable at all? She;s gonna be running NM CS and Meph. I just want something different really. Bad idea?

Should work well for nightmare. I have a lightning sorc that kindoff works in CS (takes 2 to 3 seconds of blasting to take out a Venom Lord in 8 player Hell CS).
In nightmare you will be blasting right trough them.
Get yourself a good amount of mana though, so you might want to splurge on some warmth skills. Or stack up on blue potions. Do a search, lightning sorcs have been discussed here before. Fredsta made a good mini-guide about them if I remember correctly.

You're a god send. Thank You so much. Now to proving all those doubters wrong saying that Lightning is a stupid tree to use in Classic.

I made one and it works well - i think its meant to be different to other sorcs though.
Blizzard and Orb seem more like watering can sorcs - you spray and watch things die.
Fireball and meteor seem more about pop pop pop shots at things to burn em to death.
Lightning seems to be more FZZZZZZZZZZZZZT and slowly electrocuting everything - chain lightning is a super skill.
I dont think light sorcs were ever meant to kill in one hit tbh - anyone else think so ? Seems to come down to speed of kills from what i hear...

I seem to remember Fredsta advising fcr is king, not +skills, what I thought at first.

i have on nl eu a 120 fcr ,light sorc lvl 86 and she can kill in hell cs, unforutnately her surviability is low, but with max teleport breakpoint she never gets hit
use
shard
eyeless
2X fcr resist irvngs
sorc fcr resist ammy (start with a +1 fcr ammy)
magefist
twitch or fhr resist armour
tarnhelm
1 teleport
max light, chain light, light maxtery, charged bolt, rest of points to nova.
this also works in pvp
i owul use 80 fcr and mopre resists in hc
btw my sorc also has a +3 to lightningAND thunderstorm +2sorc 20 fcr staff on switch :D
light ims are the least common to come across...and are minorly annoying at most...
THE problem in cs with light sorcs are the resistant monsters. Venom lords - 75% res. Oblivion knights - 60% res. Doom knights fortunately only have 20% res but the high life venomlords also having such a high resistance is a real setback to light sorc efficiency

Other problem in CS and in general is that you don't have much tools to slow the monsters down, and as in classic you don't have a merc(thank god) you actually have to do some nice tricks sometimes. But in NM CS it shouldn't be a problem. Somehow ever since 1.10 it feels like Nightmare is actually more fun than Hell because in hell only the cookie cutter builds can do something.

I had a lightning sorc I made on classic last season, UsWest. I made her just to make her, no real reason. She ended up doing great in duels, her name was OneTwentyFCR. Because she had 120% FCR, she was awesome for killing synching hammerdins.
