hi i am looking to shop for a 3soc 40 life light plate, i am not sure where i can buy it at? is it nightmare or hell mode? thanks

you can buy it in both NM and Hell.

The biggest factor would be your character level. You'd actually want to be somewhere near level ~30 to optimize your chances of finding this at a vendor (which generally would mean Nightmare > Hell, in this case :p).
