View Full Version : Lightsorc, cheap and safe?
I was thinking about making a lightsorc with something like
Oculus
Storm pDia
Arach
tal amu
sands
Viper30+ UM'ed
treks
Nagel30+fcr ring with res - 10 fcr
magefists 20 fcr
Shako UM'ed
Tal mask/Gaze/Andys
shaftstop
eth insight/Obedience (HelKoThulEthFal)
low SorcTorch
low anni
str: 156 with items
dex: maxblock
vita: rest
nrg: base
how do u think this would perform @ mfing at the places like eld, shenk, pindle, meph and andy, focused on safety ofc.
any suggestions? it'll be my first sorc on HC.

I think it fails in the "cheap" category myself...
-hps
lol, I was thinking the exact same thing. :)
Edit: Honestly, if it is your first sorc, try running through a couple times without buying tons of elite items. If your new to HC, it'll be better to get your bearings first.

+1 here too
It's a fairly good rule of thumb that everyone loses their first character when being new to hc. You'll have to learn to play at different pace, that survivability trumps damage. For example we usually use wizzy over occy, and that random tele can both save and kill you (it's more often the latter then former).
(so make a cheap disposable sorc first to get the hang of keeping one alive in HC play before you lose a set of expensive elite items.)
your rocking end game items, so your going to be wtfpwning anything not immune to you. Your merc is going to be a killing machine
maybe I counted wrong, but your going to want 117fcr for light spell attacks.
I'd almost suggest messing around with an elite Insight on the merc to see if you prefer the mana regen for your tele'ing and e-shield.
switch: Rhyme and alibaba for the mf lootz :coffee:
If you want to run some D keys, which is a great use of Light sorcs
I'd suggest using a ammy of life everlasting with sorc skills on it , sol'ing your shield and hat for around 40pdr in addition the dr% offered by ss. This should leave you pretty safe from the bugged snakes. Use a Gbane and an insight polearm for nil damage on the merc with a circ of life everlasting on him.
add one nature's peace ring , and swap occy for Wizzy. your now styling on the Nith runs.
Change oculus to wizzardspike. Seriously. I'd also ditch arachnid and replace it with tgod's.
That setup lacks some dr (in frames) and fhr, otherwise it looks pretty good. :)
id go more hp than max block. o____o
thx alot for the advices lads!
about the "cheap" department, u might be right, its just, i've established a bit of wealth from playing sc, so shouldnt be that big a deal :)
but, im gonna try some of ur different advices anyways, just to test :)
oh and to Raith, i've read quite alot by this exactly, and have to say, mb with a high block shield sounds to be the most safest to me :)

A Sorc without max block is either one hell of a gamble, or has high end items that compensate for lack of block.
IMO though, and just about any seasoned veteran of HC, go max block.
Another thing though, ES or not? It does matter.
my sorc has 60% block and shes in hell, tanks anything fine, kills anything not immune to my coldness fine. ive done max block but it requires too much charms and whatnot to bring the HP up. im lv 89 with 1400+ hp.
to give u a bit more info, i've just tried it for several hours, havent been near death once :)
using the setup i wrote, no, full block, 17.5k lightning dmg and 7.5 CL dmg :)
But im gonna try and make a Sorc with Orb and ES/tk combo, with whistanspDia, shako'shael, wizzy, 3coldsk amu/tal amu, bladebuckle(30 fhr on a crapbelt lol), viper'shael, sandstorm, fcr ring+nagel/stat ring, magefists.
that's gonna give me mb relative easily since whitstans has the highest block% (92 or something) if i remember correctly, 86 fhr bp - 7 frames and 110 fcr for 8 frame teleport.
id get tgods and replace bladebuckle so you could pour more pts into vita instead of str.

assuming i went with tgods, it would be my item with the highest str req, im actually thinking about getting hotspurs or waterwalks instead of sandstorms, i'd lose a frame, but my str req would only be at 60 str in total. :)
