blast you!

I'm still at a loss for why this happens. But it seems to be happening more consistantly, now. I guess I enter/exit games too quickly while xferring...but, damnit I don't have all day. -_-

Do you have 2-3 seconds?

That's all it should take. When heading back to the character select screen, wait 2-3 before selecting the new char, then when logging on, wait 2-3 when selecting the join game. It seems, to me at least, whenever I get a rare realm down, its the moment I select to join a game without waiting that 2-3 seconds. It lists server down, then boom, realm down.

What I tend to do is between each click, is circle the mouse over my screen once between each click, and seems to be good.

I can wait, I suppose. :P I just get into rapid fire mode without realizing it. Sometimes I feel like I've waited long enough, and it still does it. I'm not sure the exact cause, but sometimes it s.eems to be on my end, however, sometimes I will take it slow, and still get the message. Mostly when I've transfered between 3-4 different characters in the same game.

I count to 5. Not a quick 5, just a steady count. If I have a beer open, I take a sip. If you rejoin a game to quickly you just get FTJ anyway, which takes MUCH longer then a 5 count.

If I'm swapping characters (searching mules for example) I'm even more careful. Remember, doing anything quickly and repetitively will get you a realm down (with the exception of teleporting, and attacking) If you don't believe me, go join a game and roll the mouse wheel up and down a bunch of times.

There have even been times, when I've just gone and grabbed my book and read a page or 2. Generally when I grabbed a mule, typed a game name, pressed cancel by mistake (since it's so close to the join button) and then re-entered the lobby with that same mule.

Doing things quick, quick, fast will simply put you in the "hurry up and wait" position anyway... you will be waiting for your realm down to go away. So it's up to you, wait a little bit between games/mules, or wait a bunch for realm down.

In my opinion: Counting to 5, or sipping my drink > realm down.

Edit: I'm also under the impression that realm downs get worse, the more often you get them, so you will just have to wait longer and longer, the more impatient you get.

If I have a beer open, I take a sip.

With the amount I can transfer being a organization freak that I am, one session of transferring and I would be sooooooooo wasted. I have transferred for hours at a time before, with many, many characters. "where did that 6 pack go" "I was transferring" "you were what?" "I was..." *passes out*

Also, the mouse wheel only drops you if you are cycling on a Paladin and have auras set to them IIRC.

But yeah, little things like that that don't make you just stare and count, hence my circling the mouse pointer thing.

If you have 2 cd keys, ala d2loader, switch between the clients for muling. Use the first set for the first few mules, the second for the second few, et cetera. That will give you more of a buffer, but still be careful.
