I got real lucky this morning in a similar situation. Had a Gheeds drop in Act III Hell. Fairly nice one, too (135/34/10). Both of my only two Hell characters already have a gheeds, I'm playing on two computers. So I drop one of the three gheeds in town, and leave the game with char#2, and start a mule game to have a place to stash the extra gheeds (would have been really nice to have another hell character to bring in and grab it but oh well). So I have the normal game up on comp #2, and still in the Hell game on comp #1. The Hell game is well permed so I'm not too worried about it staying up. I leave the Hell game on comp #1 and try to join the normal game on the other computer. But because of the urgency I type too fast trying to join the normal game and get a join fail. OK mild panic setting in. When it finally gets back to chat (gawd that seems to take forever), I rejoin the Hell game just to make sure it's still permed, check that the gheed is still there, and then try to rejoin the normal game again. Typing slower I get in the first try. Drop off a gheed to the mule, then go back to rejoin the hell game. Pick up the gheed (whew), and then exit the game to start a new one, and get temp banned! Holy crap. Fortunately the new gheed is safe on a mule and I exit the normal game to a temp ban on that comp as well of course.

Man I really gotta get another character in Hell soon. :\

Even with 2 computers, and being able to snag everything back up after a realm down, or whispering for help, I am still always paranoid of either a BSoD, or internet failure before the game is permed, therefore dropping the game and all my stuff with it.

Still doesn't seem to stop impatient me from transferring before the 5 mins though.
