I think it's out of date.

Recommended zeal weapon is a pb with "grief". You can try other highlev runewords of course. "Death" and "doom" are very nice too.

If you aren't rich you could try a pb or ba with "crescent moon". It gives you ias, static, itd and lightning dam. I made good experiences with this weapon. It's better and much cheaper than the lightsabre.

It may have been superceded by all the runeword items, but I think it could still be reasonably effective if you've got other typical items like goreriders, guillaume's face, dracul's grasp and so on giving you important mods like crushing blow, open wounds & deadly strike. Why not give it a try to find out?

So many of the uniques get overlooked these days but I think the following can all make great zealot weapons:

Stormlash
Astreon's Iron Ward
Fleshripper
Azurewrath
Gimmershred (If you're using conviction)
Heaven's Light
Fleshrender (Upgraded to elite)
Butcher's Pupil (Upgraded to elite)

Oath runeword isn't a bad option too, I used that before upgrading to Grief on my paladin. It works quite well.

Also, Death Cleaver (Berserker Axe). 66% deadly strike makes it hard to ignore. It is scarce yes, but if you can afford it, go for it, I used to have it on my previous paladin and it kills pretty fast in end game (1 player only though). Only problem with it is that you're most likely going to make a lot of trips back to town due to its rather poor durability (26 durability goes down after a couple of swings).

Razor's Edge (Tomahawk) is also nice, I see it as the younger brother of Death Cleaver.

Schaefer's Hammer (Legendary Mallet) is good as well, but the obvious problem would be its strength requirements as well as lack of IAS.

I love the Schaefer's. It's still one of my favorites. Socketed with a shael (or better a 40/15) it's fast enough to reach the 4fps.

Well, you could use a black runeword too. Its 'dirt' cheap(Nef Io Thul) and if made in a right weapon, its not too bad.. Made 1 in a scourge this ladder.

I love Azurewrath. Only minor gripe would be lack of ITD. This is the weapon that will make you love all those Skeletons, Horadric Ancients, Black Souls, Gloams and Apparitions.

Lightsabre is fine, but it really lacks damage when there are more players in the game. You will kill safely, but slowly.

Crescent Moon is awesome weapon especially considering its price (CM & Lightsabre is nice combo for Frenzy barb IMO).

Another inexpensive option is Voice of Reason (Lem+Ko+El+Eld) made in a Phaseblade. The CTC Frozen Orb does very well. I'm not saying it is the godliest weapon by any means but will work reasonably well in Hell. Check out the guide in the stickies for the build guide based on this weapon "Listening to your Inner Voice of Reason" IIRC. I tried it last ladder and it worked very well.

Hey Chris, Baranar's Star is still a very viable zeal weapon. Put a sheal rune in it to reach the IAS breakpoint.
