Different mercs?

Hey what does the combat aura merc give you from A2? How about the combat one? I know what Defense one did.

Act 2 mercs are the best if I'm not wrong for WW barb. I'm focusing on BvM atm and not pvp. I might try pvp later I'm not sure.

Combat (Nightmare): Thorns
Combat (Hell): Prayer
Defense (Normal): Defiance
Defense (Nightmare): Holy Freeze
Defense (Hell): Defiance
Offense (Normal): Blessed Aim

Offense (Hell): Blessed Aim

is a Hell Off merc better than a Norm Off merc?

no it is actually worse, buying a merc at higher level compared to leveling a low one will produce lower stats, res and life

the difference isn't huge so it's not a big issue

as for which merc to choose there is no reason to pick anything but a nightmare combat merc (might aura) because barbs are extremly desperate for any source of physical damage they can get in 1.10 +

Prayer: replenishes life
Thorns: reflects physical damage back at melee attackers
Defiance: boosts defense
Holy Freeze: adds cold damage and slows all surrounding monsters (even cold immunes!)
Blessed Aim: boosts AR
Might: boosts physical damage (ED%)

You should find all this out when playing the game. It'smuch more fun exploring yourself than reading it. I'm not saying it's bad reading forums, but at least I think you should learn the basics yourself. the game is more fun that way

This is not true.

Normal mercs have better stats than NM mercs, which on their turn have better stats than Hell mercs, but the level they are hired on is irrelevant.

Also, if you haven't noticed it, hell mercs and normal mercs have the same auras, so there's absolutely no reason to hire a merc in hell
