So I've been moderately confused as to how hell monster resistances work, such as cold immunes. Could anyone break down how it works a little better for me? For example is there a way to damage cold immunes with enough cold facets? Maybe this belongs in a different area but......it is very pertinent to my sorc :whistling:

If they are cold immune, no matter what you do they are immune to cold.
Immunities can only be broken by Conviction and Lower Resist, and they only work at 1/5th efficiency when used to do so. Gear with -% cold resistance on only works after immunity has already been broken by one of those.
Most of the cold immunes in hell have so high resistance (around 140) that their immunity can't be broken. Some fire immunes have similarly high resistance, while most lightning immunes can be broken.
140% cold resistance can be broken, but 150% can't. Cold mastery or cold facets don't help break immunes, but they make you deal significantly more damage against broken immunes. Did you perhaps notice the guide that is sticked here?

the cold mastery won't help against "broken cold immunes" because you won't be able to break them in the first place even with conviction AND lower resist curse
cold mastery is most useful for orb/blizzard when farming meph because of his high cold res
many cold immunes in hell (and even act 5) can be broken. The majority can't, but some can. I'm not sayin it's worth it to get infinity or anything, just giving information
