Like thousands of people, I had to fire up my old copy of Diablo II after watching the trailer for III.
My cousin and I started playing through the game again, and something a little weird happened in Act IV.
So neither of us had done the Mephisto's soulstone quest, and I was hosting a local IP game. We'd each killed Mephisto separately in single player, so we each had our own stones to smash.
We get to the hellforge and kill the jerk guarding it.
I grab the hammer, and my cousin puts his soul stone on the table and I smash it. Yay, quest completed for both of us.
Of course, now the hammer is gone ... and I've still got my Mephisto soul stone. The quest is completed for me, so I can't do it again on another server, but I've still got this useless soul stone and no way to smash it.
I guess I could get someone else who hasn't done the quest and have them smash it, but then they'd be left with their own extra soul stone. What's the deal with this? Anything I should do with it?
