I read a lot about Insight as a good source for mana retrieval/regeneration but I have no clue what it really is and how to use it. I would appreciate it if somebody could enlighten me. Thanks.

It's the Meditation aura that people are looking for.

To give you and idea why it's so nice for casters, at level 17 Meditation provides an extra 700% mana recovery.

Apart from the everfull mana bulb (except when spamming fireballs, CL etc.), the runes have a level req of 27, so if you put it into an exceptional or normal polearm, your merc will usually be better at killing monsters (but not any smarter :azn:) than your character until the end of nightmare. At a higher level you will use an elite polearm, of course, but have a low one on your mules for leveling characters.

As it's a merc weapon (in some cases for casters as well), it's made in ethereal weapons.

Ahh, so people use insight for their Act II Merc? Now this makes sense. I kept thinking it was an Act I merc ability depending on which Merc you selected. Thanks for all your help guys/gals.

That would be Inner Sight, the Amazon skill that lowers enemy defense. Both kinds of act 1 merc have it.
