View Full Version : best revive in WSK? and how to make quick gold?
Hi, guys, I was lvling up and so far so good. I realized that I need to clear all WSK, not just baal himself. I gain a lot of exp and now already lvl91. :D :D :D
got a couple of new queestion:
1. what's the best revive in your opinion in WSK? I always like serpent mage, black soul, for their penetrating attack. what do you prefer, or try to avoid? and reasons for that? AND: is revive really immortal in the duration?
2. my merc still dies once in a while, don't know why. it looks like he can survive some really bad situation but sometimes die at nowhere. so each time i have to spend money to revive him. kind annoying. what's the quick way to get gold? it looks like everyone couldn't care less about gold. I usually get items and sell to lazuk, but 35000 is max i get for each item. is there any other way to get quick gold?
3. this is a question i have since i started D2, when evaluating items, what factor determines how much does it value? i mean does unique always value more gold than set? at 1st glance, how can u tell if this piece can sell 35000 max gold at larzuk's?
Thanks a lot for all your help!

1. Those big guys that do frenzy are my favorites. The vipers are nice, but I don't like reviving gloams because it can get confusing.
2. Selling items is the best way to get gold, unfortunately. Caster items can also sell well. Wearing items that have gold find helps, as champions will drop worthwhile pieces of gold. Easiest way for me is to just go to frigid and kill eldritch, the guy slightly above the waypoint and then back down to shenk.
3. Not sure, though I know all elite armors will sell for the max. Any blue or yellow high defense armor will probaly sell well too.
I prefer those little guys that explode on you. Now they explode on others!! Plus they don't die.

Revives aren't technically immortal but close enough. I also like the Hell Lords (minotaurs) as they scare the heck out of me, might as well put them to use. Also the Gloams make nice revives as their lightning attack is just as devestating to your enemies as it is to you. It does get a little confusing as to which are you're and which are enemies as they aren't colored differently. Doom knights also make nice revives due to their tanking ability.
35000 gold per elite armor goes a long way to resurrecting your mercenary. You could do Travincal council member runs, as they drop a fair amount of gold. Also, running the LK superchests drops quite a bit of gold as well. Both would need to be done in as full games as possible to get the most benefit.
Not sure how things are priced but the items I see going for 35k are elite armors and sorc orbs/staves, necro wands/heads and paladin scepters with good mods. So those are the items I'd pick up if you are looking to sell items for cash.
It's quite likely your merc is often dying to those "oblivion knight" type mobs who cast iron maiden. Iron maiden means the damage he deals is reflected back to himself which for a merc with a decent insight weapon or similiar can easily selfown himself in one or two hits. That's what kills mine anyway.
For revives I tend to go for the minotaur types or the ranged mobs. When going for Baal I always make revives from the balrogs and council members in the packs he summons before legging it through his portal, although having crushing blow on my merc it's not really necessary lately, sometimes they just get in the way preventing him from doing his stabby thing.
I always drop all my gold on the ground before looting certain places in a private game, that way I won't lose a massive amount of gold when my character dies, I've already maxed out my gold storage chest a few times because of this.

To get gold fast you just need to sell a bunch of stuff to get a feel for their prices. Besides elite armor always going for 35k, you should also pick up elite character-specific items with +random skills--especially orbs and helms (like Demon Hearts and Hunter's Guises). If they have good skills, then they could potentially sell for 35k as well.
I agree with the oblivion knight thing. I took observation today and when my merc dies there is always oblivion knight around. Now my favorite revives are doom knight=dark lord>black soul>serpent mage, thanks guys!
Hell Witches, Stygian Harlots - whatever their name is in there. I rather like those, because I can have my skellies + some of the frenzy guys tanking, while those succubi hang towards the back and spam their artillery. It kinda balances things out - I usually get Mages when I build Fishy, so I get a nice mix of strong melee plus strong ranged as well.
It's getting to be time to build Mr. Fish again :)
Like people said, just recognize what items are elite and pick those up and sell them. Basically any elite item sells for 35k
Shenk/eldritch are just a few feet from the frigit highlands waypoint and they generally drop rares that have a good chance of selling for 35k, plus they might actualyl drop something good. I usually work them into my runs if I want gold since it only takes about 20 seconds.
