View Full Version : Should I aim for Griswold set?

Since I began playing a few weeks ago, I haven't really established a real decent set a of gears for most of my characters. My favorite character so far is my shock pali ever since I managed to snag a pair of Dracs from baal runs, now he barely dies in hell lol.

Anyways, my MF sorc was able to pick up Gris Heart from pindle just the other day and now I sorta feel like completing this set. I've considered trading the only 3 HR's I have and maybe some other stuff for the remaining pieces. I believe the gris set really shines when you find good jewels or runes to socket it, but I lack anything halfway decent to put into it. So, should I wait awhile longer until I find something to socket this badboy or should I let my HR's go to finish the set? Also, if anyone could give me a rough estimate for the gris shield, helm, and scepter that would be great.

Well, Griswolds set items are not particularly good. Just compare Fortitude/Duress, HoZ/Exile, CoA, Grief/Death with any of Griswold pieces... And appart from the armor, all pieces are very hard to find (it's actually the hardest set to complete from all).
EDIT: It's semi good for Avenger.

thx for the input, I guess I'll have to read more on avenger builds to see if it's for me. A part of me just wants to finish it so I can finally have a complete set, but when you mentioned that its the hardest set to complete it sort of makes the challenge even more enticing lol.

I imagine the set isn't worth 3 HRs, probably much less (I know it used to be expensive a few seasons ago). In my opinion, if you really want the complete set, you should just trade for it due to the extreme difficulty in finding the pieces yourself (you'd have to MF in high level areas).

Well I did it, it took a few weeks, but I finally finished the set. If I had actually traded any HR's for a piece or even the set I would be kicking myself right now, knowing that I was able to obtain it for near pgem fodder.

How the heck did you get 3 HR's in your first 3 weeks of playing?!?!?! What am I doing wrong? lol

O, no when I posted HR, I was a noob too, I thought um and mal were considered HR then, although they may be considered HR's by some. I was only able to obtain those from forge. If I had traded my only decent runes for the gris set, I think I would've suffered a serious set back for trading other necessary items.
