Andariel's visage useless?

Hi, there, I got this helm from trading. I thought it's a great helm for merc, but it turns out... it actually DECREASE fire resistance? I found my merc often die in WSK3 or ToD, so I removed the helm, and he is happy ever since. Before it was 36, 66, 66, 85. Without Andy's it's 66,66,66,66. (Merc's resistance gets to 85? I didn't notice that before.) I looked at specs of the helm. It doesn't look too great... Am I wrong here?

Question, since the base of this helm is -30 fire resist, socket a Ral will make it +30 fire resist or +0 fire resist?

I know... I might exaggerated a little when I say useless. I like its other stats, but -30% fire resist, I just don't understand.

Andariel is weak against fire, so if it's Andariel's Visage, it should have -fire res.

FYI the reason the mercs resistance got to 85 was because Andariel's Visage has increased maximum poison resistance. Otherwise mercs are capped at 75 just like pc's.

Just give your Merc a Treachery Armor (which is an awesome armor for a merc by any measure), as soon as Fade Triggers he should be fine.
