I have a couple more newbie questions.:ponder:

1. When I played a long time ago, there used to be a very fast little crossbow that started dropping in ACT3. I can’t remember the name of the item (I just remember it was a weird name). But I loved that crossbow + strafe on my bowazon, I’d used to imbue them if I didn’t find a rare one. Does anyone know what they were called? And do they still drop?

2. Speaking of imbues, what’s the standard practice for imbues now? Save all 3 till you get through hell and use them on exceptional items?

3. If you have set that came from normal mode, is there a way to upgrade the set to nightmare or hell quality items? Or do they just become useless?

4. Is there a cap on the number of charms that are used from your inventory? Could someone save up all the little resist charms and stack them up? Or the damage ones?

Sorry if this is newbish, but it’s been a while =)

1. Er, don't quite understand this. I would say Buriza, but then the Imbue part.... At any rate, crossbow speed was nerfed, and they aren't as popular anymore.

2. Save all three and use in Hell on:
Circlets
Assasin Claws
Druid Pelts
Eth Crystal Swords
Boots/Belts

3. Set items can't be upgraded - so a bunch of the early ones are useless. The upper tier set items are useful/tradeable.

See here: http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/sets/

All sets on the left hand side are useless and do not have much value, with the exception of Death's Guard (early twinking), Sigon's Complete Steel (early twinking), Cleglaw's Pincers (awesome slow + knockback for bow users), and Angelic Halo/Wings (massive AR bonus for late gamers). The sets on the right hand side... you can keep Aldur's, M'avina's, Natalya's, Griswold's, Immortal King, Tal Rasha's, and Trang-Oul's for sure. Laying of Hands from The Disciple, Naj's Puzzler from Naj's Ancient Vestige, Guillaume's Face and Whitstan's Guard from Orphan's Call are also keepers.

4. Er, the only limit to charms are the unique ones (one of each per inventory). The other charms you can stack as much as you want. This includes resistance and damage charms.

3. Sets can't be upgraded at all. Uniques can be upgraded, but only the base item will be upgraded. Look at the cube recepies for more information.

4. You can have any number of charms in your inventory with a 'few' exceptions. Namely the three unique charms, ananilus, gheed's charm, and the hellfire torch. Don't worry about those charms now until you get some more wealth. Also yes the resists charms do stack. So if you need help on one resist namely lightning then find/buy some of those charms if you can't get it from your equipment.

Thanks for the reply!

As far as the first question goes, if the crossbow speed was nerfed, that is probably my answer. The crossbow was called Cha-Co-Nu .. or something like that. But i sounds like i can't have my strafe machine gun anymore

Thanks again!

You're thinking of a Chu-Ko-Nu. Regardless, bows are a far stronger option than crossbows now. Try a harmony bow if you're on a budget, or a faith if you're not =)

Also, windforce still rocks on a strafer.

Demon machine is a good early x-bow, (unique chu-ko-nu)
Wind force rocks on a Strafer that is what I use.
Kuku bow good mid level bow.
Buriza still viable on switch.
Melody is an option for mid game.

Lycanders and Mavina's also good for mid lvl but maybe not enough for end game.

Peace

Sorry, going to have to nitpick here. Both Buriza and Lycanders are very viable as end game gear. I have strafers with both that quested quite fine and encountered few difficulties. Just have WWS on switch to Amp any physical immunes and you're all set, or a merc with Reaper's Toll.

And no you don't even have to upgrade them.
