ok so i have been recently been doing trav runs with my MF barb WW popper, but i cant seem to find any thing decent to keep. I usually die if one of the council has lightninning echanted. However after i pop them with my 2gulls i dont anything near decent as well. Is something wrong with my gear or my build? Im also considering scraping my MF barb and making a glitch sorc MFer or hammerdin MFer.

you probably arent getting enough efficiency with that gear

Try getting rcage, ll gloves, a tarn and 30 frw boots and maybe a ll ring, you shouldnt be dying at all in trav unless you ww right through a fr and lr monster, make sure your lr ans fr is maxed. Also 195 dmg mart is far too low, alot of people just charsi anything under 230 marts so you should be able to get one for cheap

Also try mfing other spots in the game,

First of all you are seriously lacking in resistances and you do not have any life leech except maybe in the 199 dmg mart, which is imo rather low. Even Snap is better especially since you are using mf build (lots of ar) and not gf build (220 is imo the pb when mart better than snap)

How many runs u do in a day? And how many soj worth items you expect in a week? 1? 2? more? If it were that ez people would have 10 sojs a month mfing on avg? YOu migh luck out and get weapon thats worth 10+ sojs. Like some nab found a very kicky bh (180dmg) but unfortunately sold it for 3 sojs cause he did not know prices. Rich people in ladder and doing bvb will pay closer to 20 sojs for that, because its most likely the best bh on Eu ladder and they all want it &they can afford it as its possible to trasfer wealth from ladder to next one due to fg system supported by some forums (which kind of ruins the new ladder, since all certainly do not start from scratch).
My point is that not many get that much. Mfing is hard work. Sometimes you can do 100 runs and not get anything worth keeping. I usually sell all items i dont concider to be soj value or very near soj (omitting some basic items for personal use). Granted that i dont have time to play as much as most geeks, but 1 week mfing and i would be rather happy with semi nice rares and one of soj value or up. I would concider myself lucky if that remains my average. That would mean 4 sojs a month and if ladder is whole year = 48 sojs. Again i would say not many will have that kind of wealth at the end of ladder. So 1 item a week that is sojs worth is quite nice imo.

One of the reasons why i like to do cs runs vs trav runs is that at least you get some exp to you gambler, if not godly rares.

Just cs. You'll get everything you need. I did and got too 91 doing it. Now I have a geared out din and few mules and hooked my buddies up as well. I'm not the richest guy by all means but I do have a pretty pimp character now. The best way too get rich though would prolly too start out with a sorc. Get too andy (glitcher) and do countless runs for about a week or two. By then you have all the gear you need and you start building other characters based on the gear you found. If i really would of thought about it I would have tooken that route but i dont play enough too really bother.

how did you CS, as I see it's impossible to do public CS-runs, since everyother is using one particular pick-hack (automatic picking the items off the ground very fast).. It would be nice to do 2/8 or even 3/8 with enouh accounts ofc. Sadly atm I only got 2 accounts, and on the other side I think it's fun to MF in different places around the map, although maybe not that rewarding ^^

Just make your barb a GF barb, GF barbs have a good amount of MF too, but their focuss lies in max poppin and gold finding. Trav members can drop stacks of 30k gold. You should, with selling exceptional items, be able to get at least 250k per trav run.
if you then also add Sumzy's list of MF spots to your run, you're certain to get at least good amounts of gold to gamble with if the items aren't that good.
Or do travincial in CS games. They might ask you to come BO them if they don't have any other barbs(unlikely). But you will be in relatively filled games, other people will be making the games and you should just exit as soon as possible when the counter starts.
You can sell whatever you picked up in the next game.
Do the council members one by one, lure them out, or if you have taunt, first lure the 'normal' council members and finish them, then go for the uniques, which you still might want to do one by one do to the amount of physical damage they sometimes seem to do with a single hit.

I havent seen a single CS game on NL recently. The hackers managed to ruin it - there are no palladins that want to CS.
I understand it very well - when I played my palladin, people always stole the drops. Not to mention, that some idiot decided to baron his character and he made a "cs06" on purpose - I didnt check it and BAH.. no more baron..

I a have a friend on ladder and he +his 3 friends CS in private games. Same goes for the posters here. Ive seen few CS games on ladder, but most of them sucked.

Yeah just do solo and you are fine.. might take a bit longer but all exp/loot is yours then :) and the challenge is 100 times bigger and more enjoyable.

Yeah it happens occasionally. I've done various tests online just too play around. clicked 120 times in 10 seconds with one finger and like 132 with two (paintball technique). And a average .16 reaction time

just some quick comments and a quick guide on my own popper:

pure popper vs killer-popper

obviously these two builds are very different.

1. pure popper (serious, and sometimes hated, leecher:D)

*u just join games with lots of poeple (party=exp or not=no exp) and folow them around and pop the monster corpses. beware of paladin's redeming and necro's ce/summoning. try to not be in games with them or ask and hope that they don't remove the corpses, especially the special monsters at least.....

*popping normal (white colored named) monsters ALMOST NEVER yields anything good. and it takes too much time which u usually don't have if your in a run series of games or if u wanna get exp from party.

*only pop special monsters. normal monsters are a waste of time.

my own personal pure popper: HK_Hapeasto (i can NOT spell it right, i'd have to google it for the correct spelling / i still don't have it memorized, its the greek myth armorer of the gods, which is probably where the d2 creators came up with the haphisto monster at the hell forge in game)

80 str for tanc armor (which i have:D)
rest into vit

gear: max MF gear, than after that, whatever u can try to get resists or +skills

tanc armor (i have), tanc amulet (i have), perfect mf chance gloves (i do NOT have perfect mf, but i have the gloves), perfect mf goldwrap belt (i think all belts have 30 mf, but if not than perfect mf for it whatever that amount is.) (i have belt), 2 gulls (i have), 25 mf godly rare boots (i have weak mf, 19 mf, boots but they got 30% FWR but no resists), if possible perfect 30 mf nagel rings (i have nagel rings but not perfect mf) or perfect 40 mf magical/rare rings (better but hard or impossible to find/get. u'll probably just use nagels), 3 perfect topazed (grey/socked) hat (i have).

*and this, i think, is max mf gear possible.

skills:

20 find item (for better chance of getting a drop from a pop), 20 into bo (more life and mana), 20 into nat res (for resists), 20 into frenzy (more FWR=fast walk run speed) (though i can't hit anything in higher difficulty, so frenzy is kinda useless and increased speed skill might be better to max first instead of frenzy but oh well on lower difficulty where i can hit, frenzy is much more of a speed boost than increased speed skill), than last points into increased speed skill.

2. killer-popper

see other threads/posts like the gf barb or whatever. its pretty much basic ww barb build with some mf/gf gear and some points into find item for popping.

popping (using find item on monster corpses) seems to yield less results (gear items) than when u kill. but this is based on many many factors, like speed of killing vs popping or not paying attention when doing either method of like how many normal vs special monsters that u pop or kill.

I have a popper with 300 dmg lance and about 250MF some nice amounth of goldfind from tarn and goldwrap and chance guards. Nice to solo stuff like council in hell and pop :) can also do CS but in 1.09 it was less risky .)

though if u have a friend, the extra drops from a popper would be welcomed by him if u work together. letting him kill for an mf drop. than u pop when u can for a 2nd mf drop and u have some kinda system/agreement/sharing between the two of you as to who gets drops.

Such things usually work well with a round robbin method.
One CS he gets all the drops&pops and in the next, you get all the drops&pops.

I think one can make find item barb more usefull.

20 bo
20 shout
~10 find item (diminishing returns come to play after 10 or something points)
1 commanding
1 find potion
thats about 50 points
you can put one to increased speed and stamina, iron skin and natural resistance. so overall about 56 points
rest of the points you could spend to warcry.
20 warcry gets you about 5 sec stun lenght
76 points spent

now you are about 64 level if you did the skill quests. If we think you get to 90 level while doing cs runs thats about 26 more points. I suggest battle cry 20 and howl for the war cry synergy. Battle cry is very usefull against strong monsters.

Well anyways, when you have max war cry, with the long stun you will be in the front line stunning the monsters while others kill them without getting any hits. After kills you can pop them with find item :)
