I'm trying a Titan Wolf build and survival is a huge problem for me. I'm trying to compensate with maxed Lycanth and life steal bonuses, but if something hits me hard enough (PvP is laughably impossible), I just drop in 1-2 hits. I'm level 71 and I've gone pure Str. I could upgrade my defense through new gear, but I'm curious about suggestions. Right now I know I need either a new shield or a 2hand weapon. I have Baranar's Star and Malagawhatever's Orb for a shield. I have Black Hades Chaos armor. My health in wolf form is 636.

As a P.S. note: is it possible to play successfully in hell as a TitanWolf? Should I abandon my experiment in ridiculous DPS to allow some better survivability?

It's largely due to your gear.
You're:
Not abusing the damage potential of the build
Not getting + life items to help out survivability
Not 2 handing >.>
A Titan Wolf will NEVER be a PvP build.
Play smart, don't run into the middle of a boss pack swinging wildly. Fight from the outside in, not the inside out.
The build is possible to do in hell, it's not the easiest build though.

I see. I didn't realize this is supposed to be a pure 2hander build. In terms of +life items, do you mean charms specifically or basically anywhere I can get it?
I don't mind about the PvP thing, but I'd love to be able to do hell with this character cause I love using him. I'll let see what I can do about the gear.

With huge str you should go with a nice 2 hander because of the extra massive dmg. Unless your wanting to sink tons of points into dex for max block using a shield is pointless anyways. Life from charms/gear/anywhere, and honestly it wouldn't hurt to toss a few points into vit to push you over that 1k life mark.

your life/gear is horrrrrrible. verashiden said it best.
a titan wolf with good gear can get 6klife so as you can see, you've got a long ways to go.

I also have a Titanwolf (check out the Cranium Basher any good? (http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=678393) thread, Jary and Verashiden gave some good advice for my titanwolf) and can attest that hell is certainly doable, you just have to play smart. Also 636 health in wolf form seems really low; my titanwolf has 30 base vitality and he has about 1200 life in wolf form (lvl 87), which is enough for me as long as I play smart. Max Lycanthropy and collect charms that give you life.
You're going to want to get some better equipment. I use a Shaftstop and 14% String of Ears; the 44% DR helps a lot. Also, like Vershiden said, get a big two-handed maul. They do tons of damage and don't require any dex. At lvl 71 Windhammer is a good choice and is lots of fun to use. Once you hit lvl 76 you can upgrade to the IK Maul.
Good luck!

And if you can afford it, Dracul's Grasp will save your furry behind more often than any piece of gear due to life tap. If poor I guess havnig access to a wand on switch could be useful for especially hard encounters.
