HAI D2C!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok i just started D2C after about 4 years and i am needing of a little assistance. Recently i finished my first MF barb and have been expermenting with a D2C smiterdin and i realized there was not a greal deal of smiterdins, if any at all. I have also noticed that my stuns do not work on Act bosses like Andy or Duriel, but i may be mistaken because of AR and chance to strike; I have noticed also sigons 10% health leech bonus does not translate for smite, would that been that RC and goblin toe mods would be negated? Rite now my smiterdin is lvl 26 in westscl

another site has info about smite. what works with it and what doesn't.

i'm pm the link to u...one sec...

smite is usually (i think) jsut for pvp. its not used very much for pvm in classic as there's no ubers to use it on.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
grr, i couldn't figure out how to send u a pm, so i copied your name in and sent u a pm that way. so i hope i put your name in right. if u didn't get the pm let me know.

According to what Ive seen, smite seems to actually be quite good versus Diablo; the problem is getting to him...

Question - does smite work with sanctuary?

In theory smite should work with sanctuary, yes. Since Sanctuary boosts your physical damage with damage to undead. The physical component of your damage remains though.
Supposing you max Sanctuary, you'll be add 7.2 times your physical damage as damage to undead.
So you'll have your normal 100%(same as without aura) physical damage and on top of that 720% damage to undead.

I don't remember if I invested any points into smite on my 2 handed zealer, since he doesn't use a shield. I'll check that tomorrow evening if I remember. :)

problem is sanctuary takes up aura spot and reduces my smite dmg significantly without fanatism as well as considering i have no leech with shield =( i highly doubt i can do solo cs runs =O

Sanctuary also knocks back the monsters all the time.. only demons will get close to you right?

what about venom lords are they consider undeads?

WarlockCC

Venom Lords are not undead, so they will not be knocked back by the aura.
Those Hell Knights walk fast enough to get to you and get a hit in though.

With Sanctuary as your aura, you will be doing at least 7.2 times your normal damage to undead, so in CS you will only have 'low' damage to Venom Lords. So vs undead you won't need a damage aura.(your stat screen will not show the boosted damage because it only works against undead)

The advantage of Sanctuary is that you will not get all this damage back on your head if you get IM cursed.

violet bunny, the best smiter setup is something like this:

20 concentration
20 blessed hammer
20 vigor
20 blessed aim
1 smite
1 redemption
rest into holy shield

When surrounded by monsters, use blessed hammer; when you see a boss, switch your boots to goblin toes :)

Thats a hammerdin, not smitedin, as all hammerdins will have smite, but not all smitedins will have hammer. Note that u should put a pt into fanat to boost ur speed when smiting bosses. Ur weapon of choice for smite would be a -10wsm with 40ias boost.

apparenly sanctuary is bugged and the +% dmg to undead doesnt work, according to rtb. the way you damage undead more using sanctuary is by ignoring their physical resistance, i am making a sanctuary zealot on classic atm to see if it any diffirent on classic than xpac. it might be a waste of my time and i will delete if i am not doing noticable damage to undead.

My 2 handed grim scythe sanctuary zealer does massive damage to undead, most undead things in CS die in 3 hits, while venom lords take considerably more time and effort. :)

Smite is a guaranteed hit right? AR doesnt matter because every hit is 100%?
Just curious about the angelic set up...

I would use a barbed shield for more dmg.
