I'm looking for a game for the PC that is similar to Diablo that has free online play. This is just a filler for when DIII comes out because I don't want to wait one or possibly even two years for DIII to come out. I've been thinking of Titan's Quest. Would anyone be able to give me any recommendations please?
Hmm, I can tell you from my own experience NOT to buy dungeon siege at least.
Demigod should be good, I think its going to be released in 2008, but its still not available.
And obviosly titan quest is the closest copy of diablo 2.

The first Dungeon Siege was good. The second is fine, but I would say it lacks decent player control, among other things. I enjoyed Titan's Quest, even though it is by far a brighter environment than I prefer. Just stay away from WoW. ;)

I have just seen this review (http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/review/R102551.html) for Titan's Quest. Am I right in thinking that this would seem a fair review for the game? If so, then I might be steered towards buying this game. Until DIII comes out, of course :)

Some would say TQ is nice, others don't like it.
You need a fairly heavy system to run it smoothly and the game world is very bright.
It has fast paced action and lots of different builds to try out. Most builds are 1 point wonders though, but it's still nice to play it trough and build a character to level 30-40.
You could also wait a few more months for Sacred2.

mince, I wouldn't look towards Titan's Quest as a replacement (nothing will feel quite the same), but that game is enjoyable.
The graphic engine isn't nearly as good performane wise as Diablo was, but it did give me a similar gameplay feeling. I use SLI, and tried that game both with two 7600GT cards and two 8800GTX cards. The faster cards didn't do much for the game, as the engine is still laggy when running through new areas. This was on an E6400, then an E6850 CPU with 2GB of RAM each time. If you have an average PC, I'd turn a lot of its settings down for smooth gameplay.
Otherwise, the game itself was interesting, fresh, and didn't feel like a grind at all. I actually found myself repeating one area about a dozen times because I really wanted to get this cool armor set that spiders dropped. Even then, it didn't feel like a grind.
I got a little tired of the clunky UI after getting through the first world (ie: themed region), but it wasn't enough to make me stop playing. Titan's Quest has a decent-sized community too. It should be decent enough to help most Diablo fans while they wait out the release of D3.
What would be really cool is to have Blizzard release a pre-order/beta-testing version (for a fee is fine) with limited classes and levels much like EA did with Spore when they released the Spore Creature Creator. Yeah, *cringe*, I strongly dislike EA.
Any ways, I hope my brief review of Titan's Quest helps you.

Thanks, ciphernemo. I think I'll go out and buy Titan's Quest tomorrow :)
does any bell ring, when i mention the game called 'Fable'?
i'm borrowing it from a friend today, and would want to hear, if it is somewhat worth playing? :)

Fable, yes tried a demo of it once. If you like it, you could also check out Mythos.

There was an article that came out on the site's front page news just last week about diablo clones.
http://diablo.incgamers.com/n/677227/best-d2-clones
If you're referring to Flagship's Mythos, I think that game has been shelved while still in beta.
I actually enjoy Dungeon Siege 2 but, like it's predecessor, the online service/capabilities are horrid so I won't recommend it.
I love Hellgate: London and the online is actually quite nice. I'd only recommend it if you can tolerate bugs and live with the fact that the different zones have a few tilesets.
Mythos is on hiatus so you can't play that.
Fable is a disappointment if you ask me, didn't spend too much time on it though.
Dungeon Lords. Decent concept, horrid graphics and horrible code. The random encounters are probably some of the best I've seen in an A-RPG. Worth a try if you have a friend who has it lying around but I wouldn't buy it.
Then there's Titan Quest, Sacred and that Legend: Hand of God thing. Hell, I'd put Two Worlds in this category, it sure as heck ain't in the same league as The Elder Scrolls.
I think that's all the big ones...
... and that's why Diablo is the best...
If I have to recommend one, it'd either be Hellgate: London (online) or Titan Quest. Dunno if Titan Quest has online capabilities though.
Casserole, that link is awesome. Someone should tell him that Majesty 2 won't be coming out... poor guy is still waiting for it ;)
If you are getting Titan Quest, join up the titanquest.net forums. You will find the best mods and the unofficial patch for it; as well as potential fixes for the lag (TQ suffers from some sort of mistake with memory usage that lags it even on the most powerful computers).

Lol yeah. I think Diablo ****s on every other RPG. The only reason I'm getting a new game is because I can't stand a possible two year wait for DIII ;)

Don't forget to buy TQ's expansion, Immortal Throne, and just plug it in.
Regarding TQ's lagginess, I found setting the graphics setting to Low Shadows, Low Reflections permanently helpful. Keep the other two settings (one is Details, can't recall the other) to High.
In all probability, it won't help you to mess around with the settings. Rubber-banding (TQ lag) occurs independent of how powerful your machine is.

IIRC, the problem with TQ's rubber-banding has less to do with graphics as it has to do with memory. TQ has a large game world and there are no load times during regular play. Load times are only evident at startup and when using the town portal. Hence the banding happens when moving from one zone to another. It doesn't happen that often, but it will always happen at the same places. It can be a bit annoying, but I've never died from it. I'm sure most of you can't say that about D2 and B.net.
TQ does not have servers for on-line play and off-computer storage like b.net. Online play through TCP/IP is available, but I don't think there a large community for multi-play. Personally I'd consider it a very enjoyable SP experince.
It's more annoying than that. TQ simply, for whatever reason, doesn't use your RAM as much as it should. You can trick it by messing around with 2 hard drives and a small/large pagefile; but that's about the only solution outside of getting a damn fast hard drive I know off.

I'm beyond probability! It worked for me, and I played TQ for 2 years. I guess I'm one of the few who managed to tweak the settings right. No rubber banding any more. My PC only has 1 gig of RAM btw, and a Geforce 7600. Give it a try, TQ players. :)
