A guy getting offers 2 sojs+ on:

Storm Mask
Defense:50
+10FHR
+84 Life
CR 28
LR 37
Socketed (1) with a red gem.

Now I am completely confused about this item. The seller says it's an oldschool "50pr", what does this mean? I can see it's a nice item, but 2 sojs+ seems an overkill to me. When I asked the guy what's so special about it he said I should go back to LOD and that I ruin the Classic Diablo 2 scene..

I will continue filling this list with other confusing items I might come across.

Maybe he means he got 50 life off of the pr (perfect ruby)?

In my books Perfcet Ruby gives +38 to life, or was this value higher in the earlier patches, that would explain it.

This mask is simply great, I think masks require 55 strenght - which means that you can use them on a sorc; the resists are very high and these are the ones that are useful for duels. There is incredibly high life on top of it and the necessary FHR.
The 50pr, probably means around 50 life before perfect ruby.
As for 2 sojs - 1 soj was used to make the socket (if you play on ladder) and the mask is very nice (despite low defense). We could argue if the mask was worth to make a socket though and if it isnt worth - say only 1 soj, but it's definitely very nice. Some people might not like it though, because they would prefer a skull-type helmet.

What would make a great helmet in your opinion then? Post the stats.

I'm well aware of this fact. But since the seller mentioned it was oldschool, and "pr" usually means "perfect ruby" when there's no "poison resistance" about, i'm guessing its different mods from an old patch

Yeah, there must be a meaning to "50pr" that I didn't understand, because the seller said it was indeed old school and from days ways back..It could be that you did get more life from rubies in some patch and that the life has stayed there, in that helm :O

To Fledgeling: the mask is part of the helm's name. The type is great helm. This helm is missing on added stats.

The helm itself is a pre-LoD dupe known as "50" due to its defense. "pr" means that its ruby socketed. It has been highly valued for several seasons now and I believe its worth more than 2 sojs now. 84 life on a helm is no longer available in the current patch nor is the 37 lightning resistance.

You can't get over 40 life on helmet anymore. The maximum before LOD was 59 on helm and it was item level 22.

I found a great helm with 59 life 34 light res 24 fire 15 cold -20% req from normal river of flame skull pile in 1.05 had it on my sorc for all her lifetime.

I wish the rares would still drop like that

Once again, I'm back with another confusing item I stumbled across:

This shield:
no fhr and no 30/20 (!):

15/10
20 prism
9 str
5 dmg reduced

CLR: Orange.

Was PC'd at 1/4 Sojs..

How I think this shield is not worth that much, or is the color orange that much strived for? A bit confusing since my 30/20 20prism Bone Shield (color: purple) was PC'd at 1/20 Sojs..

To many people, color is a big factor. tho a 20.30 purple bone shield is good stat wise, it can also be easily shopped. orange is more rare. tho i would never pay more for it personally, i do sell them higher.

I didn't know you could shop 30/20 prism shields, or do you mean you can shop them without the prism add, would make sense..?

I think the color thing is somewhat related to self-esteem problems some people have in IRL..They don't want to show up infront of their friends looking bad and getting laughed at because they wear the same colors as every noob is. They want to stick out, in a good way. Also, some inscect species try to bait opposite sex partners with their colorful carapaces and wigs.

Yes you can shop 30/20 prism shields at hell drognan. Since these are all purple, which is an ugly color to most, these drop in value. The shield has 9 str too, wich adds to the value no doubt.

Personally I will wear an item if it suits my needs. However last ladder I ended up very wealthy so I bought a +2pala 17/30/20/prism red bone shield for my sorc. Just for the overkill :whistling:

I like more of those large shields or small shields.. TBH bone helms, mage plates and bone shields even when they look kinda ok.. almost everyone has those. I never want to look like someone else :) I like my ladder 1 hc sorc that looks absolutely stunning in the chat with red skull cap or helm sometimes, rare red studded leather armor, red wand and WoE.
