upgrade exceptional to elite

I have a 4 socket Ornate Armor and i want a 4 socket Fortitude Sacred Armor I have the runes to upgrade it but if i use the ornate can I upgrade it to an elite later?

Or should i keep looking for the sacred armor for my kicksin?

I don't think there's a way to upgrade items unless they are unique or rare (looking at the cube formulas at Arreat Summit), a normal (socketed) or runeworded armor can't be upgraded.

remember that the strength requirement on sacred armors are 232, which is pretty high...might be better off with the ornate one.
