Seriously, I am not at all happy being a slave to Microsoft, especially after Vista. For Windows fans, I truly hope that "Windows 7" to follow will correct some horrid issues with the performance toll that Vista adds to gaming. Don't get me wrong, I use Windows XP for games, but I'd really much rather be using a completely open source, free-as-beer OS like Linux.

But that's a pipe dream unless developers start using OpenGL for graphics instead of DirectX (Wine/Cedega for Linux is a poor substitute).

I know, I know, the game engine is already built. Yet porting its DirectX specific graphics routines to OpenGL is certainly possible. Even if Blizzard and their development team are not interested in the extra work, there are plenty of other companies who will do the dirty work for you. Take advantage of that. And your added bonus is that you'll also help to make the game run on MacOS X for Apple fanatics.

The best thing about offering this to Linux users, is that you don't have to give us tech support. We'll figure things out ourselves for our PCs, because unlike non-technical users, Linux users are used to troubleshooting on their own and scouring Linux communities for help. Just make it work for OpenGL, that's all we ask. Please.

Thank you for listening.

For all those who would like to see Diablo 3 released for OpenGL to work on Linux, BSD, and/or MacOS X, please show your support!

Blizzard has already stated that Diablo 3 will be available for Mac OSX, as with all of their games. The OpenGL support is there, but I'm not sure why they aren't allowing their games to run natively on Linux OS's.

Thanks for the piece of info about what Blizzard plans on doing. I certainly hope they release it for Linux as well. Since I'm not a Mac OS X user, I don't keep track of that, but I know many would buy Diablo 3 just to run on their Apple PC.
