So, why did Blizzards dev team suddenly say "We'll consider solutions for corse disappearance" but they won't consider removing the Health Orb? Now, they may be considering removing the health orb and not telling us, but they haven't spoken publicly about that.

Thoughts?

Because they consider the Health Orb to be a game feature that will improve gameplay.

Well, I'm guessing it's because the health orbs are a part of the gameplay; they'd have to rebalance the whole game and redesign (nerf, tweak) everything else if they were to take out the health globes. But the corspes are only cosmetic (apparently, there likely won't be corpse skills, but this is just a guess on my part). Changing how long the corpses stay on the ground won't affect how well X skill works or which chr class is better in Y area, etc.

Yeah, obviously I'm going to play D iii so I won't be signing any petitions or anything. I really do have a desire to not play a game like Gauntlet - you all recall the "so and so needs more food" part of that game.

You ended up needing to constantly run around finding orbs to stay alive. I don't want to play a game like that. Recall that with appropriate life leech and mana leech, you could pretty much point and click through the game.

If that isn't the case any more, I'll be pretty frustrated. The assassin required me to play with my left hand constantly on the key board and I hated that, too. I really hope they don't require a constant two hander approach that was widely used with the LOD expansion.

All indicators are towards you having to use both hands towards D3, unfortunately. We may even be forced to look at the screen while we play!

Man I was really hoping that that wouldn't be the case. I loved the amazon, I'm just also very lazy and I usually hold my soda or sandwich or arm pump with my other hand every time I found a good item.

Well, I can't wait to find out what the case is nonetheless.

Wow... I would occasionally play the game with one hand while I was on the phone or something, but you've taken it to another level! :D

Back on topic though, I think Stillman hit the nail on the head. Changing how long the corpses stay is a minor cosmetic tweak, while rebalancing the game around orbs or no orbs might mean completely redesigning some areas of the game.

I also think the globes are going to be better than the potion fest, when all is said and done.

I think diablo iii just existing will be better than no diablo iii when all is said an done ;)

I have one nervous apprehension, so I loved twisted metal 2 SOOOOO much when it was out. Me and my bro would battle every night - it made us like best friends.

Twisted metal 3 came out and they had "balanced" the game by changing the controls and adding physics. If you've ever played tm3 you'll know what I mean. It's a mess.

I'm just nervous is all. I do buy into the orbs making the game better, but I really don't want it to play like a gauntlet on steroids.

Never heard of twisted metal, but Dungeon Keeper 2... nuff said.

In general, I think publicly speaking about changes that may or may not happen isn't a good idea. Most issues have large groups of people supporting multiple viewpoints. If Blizzard comes out and makes a statement that they might be adding or taking something away from the game then it makes a lot of people happy and a lot of others pissed at the same time. If it turns out in the end that they decide not to go ahead with the change then they just pissed off people for no reason and have let down others. Better to play it safe and stick with concrete info.

That said Bashiok (sp) made a post some days back on the health orbs and how they would be removed if at any point they weren't (in Blizzard's eyes) good for the game. He followed it up by saying at this time they were working great. The wording isn't close but that was the gist of it.

God I can't wait for this game, just seeing you say great and diii makes me want to jump in a big bath of ice and freeze myself, to be thawed out when the game is live.

Rock on

I don't understand what the gripe is about the health orbs. I can think of so many times playing through Diablo 2 where I took a bit of damage but decided against using a potion because one didn't drop. Instead I just went on with less than full HP. Or a potion dropped and I was full at the time so I just went on, took a decent bit of damage and was forced to backtrack to make up for the loss of potions I used in the last fight.

I think the health orb system is a fantastic idea.

if you don't like it that much then play glass cannon classes...one hit kills for every body!!!

i usually play with only one hand...just put down the r key and run with the mouse and attack with the right click...works great with ranged fighters...

I "like" the health orb system, I just don't like the look of it. I would much rather have something that was a little more "immersive".

Urm, whats your other hand doing? Why is a game requiring more than one hand a bad thing? Need to eat a sandwhich? Take a drink? I mean seriously if the game requires your attention to play its usually a good thing.

Ding Ding.

Because despite people whining about it, not everyone dislikes it and it's ultimately their decision.

The only issues I have with the orb system: Hell difficulty and the Big Bosses.

What do we do when we can't slay any little mobs and need health now? Blizzard had said (somewhere) more or less potions will still be in the game but just play a minor role. Hope there's little critters running around someplace, or the Bosses drop orbs after certain amounts of damage.

Bosses that summon adds. Just a guess.

Self heal spells would also work.

Mmm. Boss with summons. Who knows? Seeing as the whole demo was rigged by Blizzard it's hard to say how it's gonna all work out.
