IMO, take what you get because blizzard has always done great with their games.

Mood from D1 and gameplay elements from D2 = win
added with new graphics and no lagging.. Looks like we have game of the year.. game of the year anno 2008 will, hopefully, be Spore!
Sure D3 is a lot different, it has been 8 years!
Anyone familiar with the old Close Combat series, compare CC1 to CC5. Or compare Heroes of Might and Magic 1 to HoMM 6. Games evolve. If anything we should have been outraged if D3 did NOT look and feel much different. What is the point of waiting 8+ years to have the same game?
I wouldn't really care if D3 was cancelled and replaced with an arpg set on Mars in the year 3000 AD where you play a character from Star Trek... as long as it's good, and a worthy sequel to D2 in terms of gameplay and items.

I want change, a lot of it, preferably, because DII is pretty much dead and beaten for me...
r compare Heroes of Might and Magic 1 to HoMM 6.You mean HoMM V, right? o.o
HoMM 2+3 were better than 4 imho:whistling:

HoMM3+AddOns is awesome. I could bite my *** for loosing my big, selfmade map. :(
MM3,4+5 are equally awesome. :D
Look, I am sure that when Diablo 3 comes, the ravenous hordes will whip together a modder team to remake Diablo 1 and 2 in in the 3's engine. Until then, let's get Diablo 3 instead of Diablo 2 Redux?

Can you play D1 with D2's engine? If so, link please. :D :cloud9:
i'd like d3 to be different...dont want the game i've been waiting for for 7 years (probably 9 years when it comes out) to be the same as the older one
I guess I'm one of the few who still enjoys playing Diablo II, but I want something fresh too. If I want Diablo II, I've already got it.

Bring on the change :D As long as it feels like a Diablo game and has good core elements, it should be good. I trust Blizzard to do their job ;)

i still enjoy it? :b
back to the topic; i dont see how D3 could be too different from D2.. as long as it's a good game, which follows the story, i'm satisfied :) it'll be hard to make a better game than D2, which imo is one of the greatest games of all time, so Blizzard has taken a huge task upon making D3.

Don't treat Diablo 3 like a 1.13 patch for Diablo 2. It's a different game. A sequel, sure, but not a patch - it should change a lot in the game, especially when the there's almost a decade between the games.

By the time it's finally released it probably will be a whole decade. Plus I don't think that as many would buy it if it were Diablo II 1.20. It's promising to be a different experience, but a better one.

I have always gone for gameplay over graphics. D2 is not graphically poor, but neither is it graphically stunning.
eg. GTA (ps1) the old overhead view and crap graphics. I loved this game for the free roaming and humour. GTAIII (PS2) graphics good, gameplay still there. GTA VC same. San Andreas, best of both and still my all time No.1 console game.
Having seen the screenshots and vids from D3, and trusting that Blizzard will stay true to the gameplay from D2 then I am definitely 'nursing a semi' waiting for this sequel.
The D2 gameplay with the stunning look of the new engine all I can say is that 'we're on to a winner here guys'

yup, just what i think as well
I like changes in the diablo universe, I think D2 barely touched the potential of the series in terms of quests, monsters, dungeons, items, story, random stuff, etc...
I think there is a room for many changes to make it a better game, plus its been 8 years so...

Same here, and it was still a brilliant game. Imagine how good it would be if it did reach the full potential? :)
well, then it would become Game of the Century! (is there an award for that?)

If D3 looked too much like D2, wouldn't everyone be complaining it was just the same game with fancier graphics? I suspect Blizzard can't really win here...

The people who ***** and complain about D3 based off of a 20 minute trailer of a game that isn't even remotely close to completion are going to ***** and complain no matter what Blizzard does. Its what they do.
Exactly.. if you want and like playing DII then go ahead and keep at it.. otherwise quit tryin to terminate D3...
Yep I am sick an tired of all the posts that basically say I want D2.5
I really like that article on something awful "the internet hates Diablo3"

People need to stop blowing things out of proportion.

Well said. I completely agree.

Out of curiosity, is there a place where people are discussing this and it doesn't devolve into "You hate Diablo" and "You're a tool"?
The change is good and very much welcome into series, it has to evolve alot to stay on top. But remains to be seen if it can hold people with its grasp as long as D2 did with its massive online player amounts, really hope the best. New graphics and different type of skills are also very much welcome, its too early to predict anything or make short type of conclusions of 20min demo.
