Butcher
Bilefroth
Shadowdrinker
Rustweaver
Graywar
Gorash
Diablo (How many of you are thinking the same idea? Haha)

I am really hoping to keep my D2 names going. One of them I have had since 2001, the name that is. Actually hoping for some kind of zon in the game so I can keep using my old 2001 Zon name as well

Good luck with getting those names. I am certainly losing them since I'll probably buy the game about a week after it comes out - I don't like standing in lines. ;)

Most of the names I use are even available right now, I am not concerned. :)

Well, since I am Single-player, I don't really care about this, but I think it is possible that you could name your characters how you want on BNet 2.0.
It's really stupid that the characters files are stored in the same big folder and the files are named after your character name. Each account should have it's own folder. Or the files don't necessarily have to be named exactly like your char, so there should be no problem to name your character how you want...

Would love a barb named Gats/Gatts/Guts/Gutts. Whichever its supposed to be nowadays. Will probably be taken quick though.

Gatts :)

I'm going for a myriad of my favourite MUD names: Torquin, Karn, Darque, Myrkul, Kheserthorpe, Dakhno, Shainton.

And I'm also gonna steal the very classic Terraformer!

Hopefully we have a little more freedom with names. Underscores are pretty outdated, limiting names to 1 underscore shouldn't be necessary either.

I kind of like this idea of naming your chr whatever you want. Given the number of kids named Adam out there, why should only the first Adam who camped out in front of the store on release day eave be the only one who can name his chr Adam?

If they don't allow this, were going to see many retarded names like XxxAdamxxxX_IV similar to how d2 is. The account names will differ, so I don't see what the problem is.

I'd make a HC character called "DumbArtPetition" then get him killed at level 1 in a fire.

I tend to name my D2 characters with the same prefix of Yasonova (you-son-of-a) and then some varied spelling of insulting names. My first caharacter was called Yasonova-hoar

I do this because this is the phrase i shouted at my pc screen the first time I was 'Baaled' into Hell at lvl 52. I fell victim to the 'pp just as Baal is on a sliver of life' trap and then found myself in Hell getting my *** kicked by quill rats.

All my characters have had this prefix and I will hope to continue the trend in D3.

God

Probably will be taken very fast and be sold for a couple of hundred $ later......

Anyway... there will be(as there are now) a lot of name hunters in the first days after release(or posibly even before??!!?!)

27-07-2008, 01:49
I imagine Diablo/Baal/Mephisto will be taken within hours of the game being released so I guess I'm going to have to stick to my DII names. All the pie names; Mince_Pies, Chicken_Pie, etc. Also, I want to make a Barb named Boris :)

Apocalypse
27-07-2008, 01:55
thats another question, you can actually get diablo? i thought common names were restricted by devs? for instance a game called diablo would not allow for the name diablo

mince pies
27-07-2008, 02:06
Well I've tried to get the name Diablo but it says it's already taken. Also, I'd like to see the filter thing changed because I wanted to create a character called Killer_Queen but it was rejected by the server. Don't know why though

Keres Cruores
Zen Enso
Makyo (or some variation)
Some variation of a badass anime char's name

Usually, I'll just add a tag add the end of the name that I'll stick with just so I can use it. Like Keres_xx or something

Pretty fast, but don't worry. You'll see chuknorris, chucknorriz, chuknoriz etcetcetc... within minutes of that too.

Its the new Sephiroth, Legolas or SSJGoku. I always avoid grouping with anyone who has a variation of those names.

I know the feeling. FF7 fanbois running wild with their goddamn names.
Same goes with Dragonballz .

I'd say "Midnattens Widunder", but that'll only work if d3 hasn't the same lame max char (=letter) amount as d2 had. It's the name I'd have wanted for my Beast-wielding frenzy barb (midnattens widunder means 'beast of midnight').

I have a feeling the max char amount will still be in though, so I'll have to settle for another name instead. No idea which one, though.

Swe? It's "vidunder" as W isnt used in the swedish language apart from borrowed words and names.

I would give my chars the names I like best in this thread.

Other than that I will definetly get a female Witch Doctor named Calypso. Then maybe a Barb named Oden or e female one called Freja. Nordic mythology FTW

No, I'm sad to say I'm not from Sweden (or anywhere near it for that matter, I hail from Belgium). I got the name from a Finntroll song (who sing in Swedish iirc), and they seem spell it as "widunder". :p (at least that's how the song title goes)

Now that I know this, however, I'll be sure to spell it evidundere - if I ever get the chance, that is :p

I have the same rule of thumb for grouping since people with common-name variations tend to be horrible or just lack courtesy.

My exception is clever variations, like Legomyegolas.

As for names, I will continue with the names I used in D2 for my two main characters, the necromancer and druid. My necromancer's name is actually fitting for the witch doctor's background (which I'm a stickler on) so I was interested in hearing the backstory to make sure I could still use it. As for the druid, that of course depends on whether the druid makes it into the game. I hope so, since it was also my main class in WoW (where I also used the name) up until I canceled my account. ;)

I suppose you mean Midnattens Vidunder. BTW, the exact translation is "the horrible creature of midnight" :)

The W in "Widunder" might be to give the name a bit of an old-swedish sound.

I will probably make a barb called Polemistis, just like in D2. It means warrior in greek. Enar is another good name for a barb. It also supposedly means warrior in old swedish.
