View Full Version : Why is Blizzard so hush on the D3 website right now?

I remember after announcing SC2, within a week or 2 later, they added new unit information for Protoss. Now I understand Blizzard is hard at work on D3, but they do have a department specifically to handle their website and community stuff. So what gives? I mean, not even new monster information? There's gonna be tons of monsters, so why haven't they released any little info yet? All we got is info based on what we've seen in the screenshots or video. Are they waiting to release another video before they release new unit/class information? Maybe they are hard at work changing the entire art direction thanks to a bunch of ******s. :coffee:

Because developing content for the game is more important than updating the website, particularly when things can change so easily at this point.

I bet a lot of the monsters that were shown aren't even 100% sure yet. I wish they didn't explain too much about their abilities though. It would be more fun to try and figure out how each monster reacts when we play, and find out our own way to kill them.

I agree with you, I believe this was how it worked in D1 (I haven't played it). It definitely would be exciting discovering the monsters as you go.

However there is a caveat. I don't want to be labouring pointlessly using a specific tactic,e.g. poison attack on a poison immune monster. I would be better if there was no absolute immunities, but if there is then at least let it be known.

Take a look at StarCraft. They are continually pulling units out and putting new units in so they only seem to post concrete units (apparently there will be units in SP not in MP :D) but to stay on topic, they still have about 18 months (going on their track record for D2) until release of D3 so a Hell of a lot can change.

Pity they don't post some of their ideas on the site but then again, it would take out the fun of guesswork!

I concur. If you know everything about the world it will seem so limited and lose its mystique. Also I would like to see lots of wierd lore scattered thruout the game that barely make sense. I mean like ancient scrolls about past events like great battles between heaven and hell that are only remotely related to the games main plot. Thats something I found very interesting about TES:Morrowind. There were hundreds maybe thousands of books that you could read and random caves that were family crypts that had an unexplained history. This gave the game an incredible depth and atmosphere.

Calm down there, there can't be updates every week or two.
And nothing is probably set in stone right now and they see no point in putting a monster info or screenshots when it might get cut.
Take SC2 website for example, there put units there, that now have been totally artistically redesigned and do not show the final units, so you can get the wrong impression.

I don't think we'll be seeing new content until blizzcon october 10-11.

So hang in there.

Dare I say, SC2 is probably more important right now than D3 ;)

1. It is a different webteam.
2. Webteam and game dev are different people.

A fault that HG:L did was to release all monster classes at once.
I hope that over the course of the development, we see different skills and different monster types. That should be enough as cliff hangers. :)

I do agree that blizzard gives a bit too much info on Sc2 and D3, I don't want info on new units or monster or classes, I prefer info on the release date and the system requirements

i don't follow the sc2 website development, so I have no comment on that. As for D3, I'll be surprised if they reveal any new info on the website. It will always follow the public info releases, whether via magazines or blizcon or other such events. official game websites are usually pretty static and always lag far behind the fansites when it comes to info compilation. Most official sites, especially pre-release, are marketing tools; made to be pretty and atmospheric and enticing, but not to inform fans about every nuance of the game.

The less we know, the more new & fun we get when we finally play it.
