Let's play a game. Whoever guesses the release date that's closest to when it actual happens wins an e-cookie. Be sure to post what your logic is, if there is any.
My vote - xmas of this year.
My logic - They're announcement was very in depth compared to previous announcements. Complete with gameplay video, cinematic trailers. The depth of info avail already indicates they're in pretty good shape for a release I think. Maybe this year is a bit optimistic but that's where my money is. :thumbup:

June 2011. June is when DII was released and Blizzard does not move faster than 5 - 7 years for a game...period.
DIII has been in development for a while... but at some point they scrapped what they had and started over....gee maybe it will be even longer.... I'll stick with my guess though

That's my birthday and about the right timeframe based on what I saw. All 5 classes are playable but they have tons of content to put into the game, play balancing, and finalizing that has to be done still by the sounds of it.
yeah, my guess would be summer 2009/winter 2009..
have no excactly date, so maybe i'm a bad voter/contester? :b

lets see, this pretty hard since i think its still far away but i feel the game will be released....lets go with july 10th
as for the logic, since the game was announced i have thought it would launch in the summer of 2010, so i just guessed a day in that time frame
29th of June 2010. I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to deliberately be aiming for the 10th anniversary of D2's release, although I doubt they'll need any more publicity than they'd otherwise get from choosing a different date.
You can quote me here and now, if Diablo 3 isn't released until 2010 i'm not effing playing it.

If they're evil, they'd release it a few days before another big release (like, GuildWars 2 or so)
And if they're not, they'll still be evil and release it November 2010.

It will likely be a June since all the big D announcements were made in June. So its either June 2009 (small chance), June 2010 (quite likely), or June 2011 (god forbid)

It has to be released on June 9, of 2009. June 9, is three days after the allied invasion of Normandy during WWII.

Really I think it's a probable day. We still dont know when SC2 beta will start (hell we don't even know all the units yet) and it was announced over a year ago now, so I doubt D3 will be released within 1 year of it's announcement.

The scary thing is that Starcraft 2 should be easier (faster) to make than Diablo 3.
Just think about it, in a strategy game like SC2, you don't need items, skill levels, damage modifiers, special graphics for bosses, etc. The only hard part is balancing the three races.

I am guessing though that they will have much much higher standards for balance between the 3 races than in D3. If balance isn't perfect in D3 that's to be expected, but people have super high expectations for SC2 in terms of balance, which is why I think they will be about equal in terms of development time.
D3 needs more content, but I think SC2 will have more balancing work to be done.

The perfect release date would've been 06/06/2006 but Blizzard were awkward and didn't announce it until 2008. So I'm guessing 06/06/3006...

Well, if they were smart.. they'd try to release the game sooner, while gas prices are higher.. as people like me.. are sitting at home lazing about... Knowing those lazy bums at blizzard, I think everything they released so far.. is everything they have ~ meaning.. they have nothing!!! People will be at home in scorching heat from global warming... in two years as the ice caps melt... and.. yea I say August 2010! it will be hot as hell!!

I'd guess the beta would start during the summer of 2009 with a planned release in December 2009. Though they will likely push the release to early 2010, say January or February.
Not even 3 degrees from what I've read, but just a few degrees rise in global temperature really ****s stuff up. I'm hoping either summer or christmas 2009.

It may be released just in time for Halloween. Even though I'd love for it to be released this year, I know that's not going to happen. Blizzard takes their time with new releases, and I know they'll take at least a year after announcement.
I'm surprised to see how mature the engine is with the game demo, along with the entire battle system, some creatures, and two characters. All that's left is building the content for the game. Unfortunately, this is the stage of development that takes the longest. :(
Note: Blizzard is working on a new MMO according to their hiring posts (a good guess from these words: "an unannounced online multiplayer game"). It's unannounced, but I'm sure it will pull energy from developing Diablo 3. For example:

They put that there even though it's totally unofficial. I wouldn't want to pre-order anything that far in the future.

One of the reasons they do early release gameplay and trailer footage is so that after words they can check feedback by studying what fans think on forumns like this. Then they go back and adjust accordingly so that the game fits more closely to what it's fans are hoping to see. So with some revisions still in the making I'll say at least 09' probably Christmas for marketing reasons. But man I certainly hope their not gunna try and wait for there ten year in 10'. Anyway I'm super stoked.
I do think it will be in 10, it cant be more than 1.5yrs from announcement. June at the earliest, but probably leaning to October/November, for the Christmas rush.

I think you should make that thread in early 2009, by that time D3 is probably around the corner and it'll help keep the people's hype alive.
