that does not give a damn about the graphics, the witch doctor, the necro (or lack of) and just wants to know whether the paladin will be one of the available classes. I searched the general forum for the word paladin and came up with less then 20 threads. That's sad.

But questions need to answered, like how anyone's going to solo uber tyreal without a paladin, smite, and draculs.

I'd probably have a .01% less chance of buying d3 if the paladin was not included. Kinda seems like the game is becoming a bit more party oriented and no one really seems like more of a party player then a paladin, with auras and such.

Anyway, just wanted to give paladins some voice D :

Seems to me that The Barbarian can buff his team's defense, and I hope that the witch doctor can enhance his teammate's weapons with his spells, like he does his minions. Maybe everyone will have something to contribute to the party besides raw damage with one character being the support class.

Er....well the line about being a party player was just me trying to find a good reason for him to stay. Truth be told, I'll just miss having my trusted zealot and avenger D :

i've never been much of the paladin player, im mostly playing sorc.
but i can understand, that people would miss their old chars, but there'll propably be something similar.

Paladin is one of my favorite characters in Diablo II, but I don't want him back. This is a new game. There will probably still be some character with auras, or using a sword and shield, or other.

For anyone complaining about bright colors in D3 might I suggest going back and playing all of D2 and tell me just where is this dark and brooding level they are talking about at. Even the Act 1 dungeons had some style to them. D2 is a flashy game full of bright colors and fantastical effects. The graphics in D3 look amazing so far and trying to get it along some ephemeral ideal is hodgepodge.

As for the Necro to Witchdoctor change over, eh I could go either way. I have problems with the witch doctor being an anthropologist but beyond an academic sense I don't entirely care how they portray tribal ritual and magic because its fiction. I see the points however, the change over from D1 classes to D2 classes was more severe and went from broad arch-types to more specific and less arch-typical characters. Here however its not so much a change as it is a shift as to which classes (new or old) are going to fill in the newer and more specific arch-types.

What I mean by arch-type change is Meelee(sp?), Range, and magic to Melee /support(pally), Melee(barbar, assassin), DD Magic (sorc, and druid in some builds), summon magic (Necro, and druid) etc etc. The more specific you get in Arch-Types the less they count as arch-types so what I have outlined here may not be as any one else would outline them. The point to take away here is that these more stylized classes get more of an attachment out of their players than did the original 3, and that the 7 in D2 + Exp had the original 3 built in and are in effect higher forms of those first 3.

My advice is to learn to love again and realize that D3 will in effect be its own stand alone game and that this is not a removal of the Necro from the diablo world but an extension of the diablo world by allowing some of its other facets to shine through instead. I'm not trying to glorify blizzard here, if enough people wish for the change and make that known to blizzard and it gets changed then Kudos on all involved.

Well, you're not going to like this one bit. Some of you might want to close your eyes and move down to the next post.

I would prefer to see a d3 where you leave town following a winding road and all along the road for miles are long stakes hammered (Get it? Hammered?) into the ground, and impaled onto the top of each stake is a paladin's severed head. Actually, I'm just kidding....I want the road to be straight, not windy, and the stakes go on for many kilometers, with 2-3 paly heads scewered onto each pole.

Basically, I want all the d2 paladins to have become corrupted by Diablo, then slain by the REAL heros (anyone who eliminates the paladins is a hero in my book). The paladins were then butchered into pieces and their heads were staked up to remind us how much they were hated. The End.

2-3 paladin heads per pole will need far to much polygons, and will slow down the game. Especially if physics need to be calculated per head when there is a storm or when a barbarian runs past them at top speed.
You should really be satisfied with just one paladin head per pole.
Also, first miles, then kilometers? Both metrics are used in Canada to confuse the citizens even more?

The Hammerdin showed up with the inclusion of synergies if I'm not mistaken? Before that he was a real nice guy infact.

Maybe you guys are right. I guess it's not the dins per se I hate, but moreso their popularity as cookie cutters, and the not-so-rightous behavior of players who use them. I mean, dueling, trash talking, greedy mfing, and calling people "nub" all day really destroys the whole concept of a do-gooder paladin. There was no language filter or no-dueling-allowed-for-pallys-only rules to stop them from being unholy. They were just a bunch of badasses. Therefore, I see paladins as the bad guys who should get wiped out in d3 by the next supreme good guys (hopefully knights with actual rules they must live by). Like duping and bot problems, it's not really Blizzard's fault, but the players who ruined paladins for me.
