Are they any plausible builds where high-powered claws are necessary? It seems all the builds around here focus on traps or CB kicks. Can't a sin just use good Sin claws and get through hell that way?

here is one

well anyways i currently have a lvl 93 sin that is kinda a melee/phoenix striker hybrid build of my own design that got through hell fine.
i use nats set with a 200%ed upped bartuc's socketed with a 35%ed jewel and that set up works for me
also a bartuc's is the weapon if you want to build a tiger strike/dragon tail sin. the best part about that build is you can have a low ed tuc's and that wont matter because for that build the +3 to martial arts is the most important part, in my opinion. the dragon tail should be the skill doing most of your killing
What about for phoenix strikers? Is bartucs good for that build?

i dont see why not. you get +3 to martial arts with them. heck, if you can get good resists without using nats set or a jade talon, or a shield, dual wielding tuc's would be like optimal i would think.

Well, I'm planning on using the full Nat's set. However, using the boots will seriously hinder the damage my kicks do, won't it? Mesh boots don't do much damage compared to Myrmidon Greaves.
And yeah, the guide in that link is pretty much what I'm looking for. Guess I won't have to worry about kick damage with that build.

yes, mesh boots do poor kick damage. if you plan to kick things you can throw nats set out the window. upped gore riders are the way to go with kicks

So, is the build in that link still viable? What I mean is, it seems strange at first to only use Dragon Claw. I guess it works though, because I just toasted Meph on Normal at lvl 23 (Duriel at 20). Is it a good idea to max out Shadow Master (seems like a fun idea I must admit), or should I abandon that pursuit and max out a charge up instead?

Here is another newer and probably better guide to a claw-based, non-charge-up build:
http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=656791
It gives options for Nat's set, but doesn't recommend it. I have a Nat's set Phoenix Striker, which I would say is the best build for the set.
