Help with nightmare cows

Need help with a sticky issue....

As I can't get to hell CS yet....I'm trying to use a friend's chanter (lvl 27 warmth + enchant) to level my own in a 2-player nm cow game, but on the first try, after the first few seconds I realize I'm not cutting down the cows fast enough before they converge on me. What I want to know before I risk a second try is:

1. will knockback gloves help?

2. is the lvl 27 enchant too low even for a 2-player cow game?

You should use the ravenclaw bow, with increased attack speed gear (death's gloves + belt and twitchthroe being the ideal set-up). Advance slowly - and fall back to the clear areas when there are too many cows. The beginning is the most important part - you cannot drag too many cows.
