View Full Version : Bowazon Boss Killer?
Which skill should a bowazon invest in for fighting individual, strong monsters? (My own bowazon uses strafe for most things, but I don't know if this is really viable against bosses and so on in the long haul.)
You can place 1pt into Jab if you don't mind using javelin/shield switch. Bowazons typically have excellent AR and with some CB, you should have an easy time. You can of course use Strafe, but it's not available early on, and CB efficiency is cut to half with ranged attacks. Jab doesn't suffer from next delay, but it's affected by D/A bug.
Since bowzons are not very tight with skill-points, Jab is definitely worth its point, even if only for Normal, where the merc fails to tank properly.

Guided Arrow or Strafe (to release CtC effects more quickly). Other than that, good luck with bosses, it's painfully slow if you don't have elite gear and even then it's not exactly fast.
If you are playing on b.net, you can always kill the act bosses with some tanks and you will be fine.
P.S. Point used only for Normal is wasted point IMO :-) Better to spend it on Valkyrie and eventually Decoy, to make bosses more safer (high level Valk works pretty good in this regard). Not to mention your life will (should) be pretty low in Normal anyway.

Use guided arrow and put blackhorns face and reaper's toll on your merc.
You could also switch out your helm for a blackhorns for maximum slow monster.
Against diablo this is really helpfull
Don't spend any points in Guided except for the one prerequisite. It is pretty useless for PvM. There are far better bow skills, like Strafe & Multi. For individual monsters Strafe can do just fine. Don't waste points in Guided, since how often are you going to come up against one monster anyway?

Yes, of course, I thought it's obvious and forgot to mention it. And I am talking mainly about Baal (especially Baal) and Diablo (I'd say those two are the only really annoying bosses for bowazon - though Duriel can be pain when you have low level Valkyrie and weak Merc).
My favorite way of killing tougher (Stone Skin) bosses is normal attack with WWS (i.e. level 20 Magic Arrow) combined with Strafe.
Hmm, that reminds me - as I was usually playing solo in 8 player games, Valkyrie could be a bit tougher than normally :scratchchin:
