Best first character to start over?

I want to have a summoner necro, I've got him to level 8, but for MF'ing to upgrade other chars etc is it best to start off with a sorc as she can tele to bosses and do runs much faster (atleast until enigma) than a summoner necro?

I'm basically looking to have a geared necro in the end but I want to know if it's best to keep going with him or if I should work on a sorc as she can just tele her way along and do MF runs faster?

I think a summon necro is the easiest to start with because it requires no gear whatsoever. At this point, you're not worried about run time, so stick with the necro.

Make sure you read the Fishymancer guide; it's very good for summoner necros :)

So I should just take him all the way through? The thing is though I am going to need to MF, should I stick with this guy and MF with him? Wouldn't it be faster down the line to use a sorc? Or do you recommend using this guy and whatever sorc gear I find, hold on to for the sorc later on?

Use the summoner, find gear for your later sorc. The best part of a summoner nec is that he can run areas that sorcs have more trouble with, like the Pits or Worldstone Keep. Then once you have equip for your sorc you can run the other areas she's better at whenever you're bored with the summoner and vice versa!

Alright sounds good. So stick with him into hell, gear him up etc and just MF run NM like andy and meph for sorc gear etc when my necro is 70+? Then level the sorc into the 70+ range and MF the bosses that he can't run?

In the end I want an enigma summoner necro. I know enigma on ladder is expensive as fock, but I'm sure I can afford it eventually.

Does that sound like the best plan? I'm following the fishymancer guide right now.

i love my fishmancer... it's currently lvl 81 and almost all the way through hell. like mentioned he can run things that the sorc has more trouble with, and imo he can even run things that she runs well. you don't need enigma, but some type of teleport is amazing for him. and IF you die getting your body back in the buff is a something to show your friends lmao, cause it really is that easy

Shauku is correct - I've got a bone/summoner that's in the mid 80's and he's been really fun to play.

Remember that you can MF areas not just Bosses - I've found plenty of good stuff as I play through the game. The only runs my Nec has done is a few countess/summoner runs for Keys (and runes). :thumbup:

I've got an Enigma and actually rarely use the teleport :scratchchin: I'd rather run most areas. I've got 8 skellies/6 mages/gumby/ActII Merc/and Oak Sage (HotO). With my army up I Amp-Spam Bone Spear-then CE. He lays waste to most areas very quickly.

Of Course as you go if you find some Sorc gear you can also start her out for a change of pace - I like switching characters on occasion.

I recently started up D2 again, and took a fishymancer through to mid hell. I made several runs at NM Meph with uber magic find gear(all self found/created) and eventually managed to get almost the entire Tal's set(just need the armor).

Needless to say I am now playing a meteorb who just reached hell at 71 and is wearing her shiny new Tal's gear minus the armor.

Garibaldi, my necro, was a fine magic finder.
