It's been a looooong while since I played this game. I remember leveling to level 99 with a frozen orb / firewall sorc in just a couple of days when the ladder reset back in 1.09.

And then quitting after being told for like six months that 1.10 was just around the corner...

Anyway, things are way different now, and I have a few questions. So, if you could answer them or point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.

1) Why are perfect gems so valuable? I remember perfect skulls being valuable back in classic, because you could use six of them to reroll a rare item with the cube (or something like that). But what about perfect gems?

2) Über Diablo, Über Mephisto et cetera... How do I get to those guys? I read something somewhere about some keys. How does all this work?

3) What's the status on duping? I remember at some time you could be sure an item wasn't duped if it was unidentified. Does it still work that way?

I'm pretty sure I had more questions, but I can't remember them. I'll probably throw some other questions into this thread once they come back to me.

Until then, please help shed some light on the above issues. :D

1. 3 perfect gems + magical item = reroll magic affixes on item. Mostly used for grand charms.

2. You have to collect Keys of Destruction, Hatred and Terror from Hell Countess, Summoner and Nihlathak. Then cube three sets of such keys to get portals to Lilith (Uber Andariel), Uber Duriel, and Uber Izual. Each of these "mini-ubers" drop an organ. Cube the three organs to get a portal to Uber Tristram, where you will face Uber Mephisto, Uber Baal and Pandemonium Diablo. After defeating them, a unique large charm called Hellfire Torch will drop. You can only do this after having defeated Baal in Hell, and you must perform the cubing in Act V Hell.

2b. There's also Uber Diablo, who drops the unique small charm called Annihilus. He appears in Hell difficulty whenever someone has sold enough Stones of Jordan on the server you are on. The "Diablo walks the earth" message will appear, and the next SuperUnique monster you face will instead be Uber Diablo.

Both of these events only work on Battle.Net.

3. AFAIK, there's no way to tell if something is definitely not duped. You can be reasonably sure that non-perfect items are not duped, and that low-level items are not duped.

Awesome. That pretty much covers all of my questions. Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm wondering about the über stuff, though... How hard exactly is it? Am I going to need a party of 8 geared out guys to stand a chance or is it soloable? Or something in between?

A properly geared paladin can do it solo. Here is one guide on how to do it: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=425449 If you follow this guide to the letter, it is incredibly easy.

Uber Tristram has been completed with barbs, assassins, sorcs, and necromancers. As far as I know, no one has done the Pandemonium Quest with an amazon or a druid. Lilith and Izual are IMO more difficult than the Uber Three and the paladin given in the guide above will have trouble taking them on his own. I used a 1-point smiter and a fishymancer (there's a guide in the necro forum) to defeat the mini ubers (lilith, duriel, izual).

Aye both have done the Q. A ribcracker druid and a Windforce bowa IIRC.

Really? I can believe the druid, but the zon seems far fetched (nerfed CB and ubers can't be KBed). It'd be nice if someone could link to a description.

Of course . If anyone would solo trist with a bowa it's be superdave or CDM. Both are legends in that field. I remember reading superdave's thread on soloing the game hardcore, untwinked, single-pass at /players 8 with a pure passive zon. So very very impressive, it is hard to describe.

It appears that no one soloed uber tristram with a zon. I didn't read every post in all three threads, but superdave beat the ubers with the help of a summoner and a windy druid. Sirinus killed lilith and duriel, but that's all.

If you read the posts, you'll find a linky to a thread by CrawlingDeadman, where he explains how he beat the ubers with a bowa - very detailed with pictures and all.

Oh heck I'll link you to it: <Click me> (http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=565742).

I only read the first post, but his word is enough for me. Maybe I'll read the whole thing later. Thanks for the link. And, I stand corrected; I guess that's what I get for skimming the posts.

You should see the pictures at least. You can barely see the zon with Baal on top of her and minions swarming around. Well done indeed CDM.
