View Full Version : Socket problem
Says on arreat that if I socketed a plain broad sword, Larzuk-style, I get four sockets. I socketed a superior one (no other mod, white item, etc), in hell and got three. Why?
I believe when it comes to Larzuk-socketing grey/white items you have something like a 50/50 chance of getting either 3 or 4 sockets.

Wrong. It always gets the max sockets for its level. The 50/50 thing is for magic items getting 1 or 2 sockets. Rare, crafted, set, and unique get 1.
The sword had too low an ilvl (item level). Get one from nightmare or hell difficulty.
Wrong.

OP - you might still want to hang on to that sword, although IDK if there are any 3 slot weapon runewords.

Some links to OP: Sockets (http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Sockets), there is an ilvl entry for broad sword there. And there is a list of area levels here (http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=551).
Seems like you need ilvl 26+. I guess that you found it in normal.
Alright, that's helpful, folks. Didn't know that.
