Question about skill points...

Can you save skill points from Levels 1-24, and after that put 1 Skill Point in Frost Nova and 20 in Blizzard? (I have a feeling it CAN'T be that easy, but one can hope, right?)

Also, if playing ONLY DII, and not LoD, synergies don't exist, so you just need to put skill points in the skill you want + the mastery, right?

Well, you can save the skillpoints obviously, but there's a limit on how many skillpoints you can spend in one spell at lower character levels. Basically, you can spend skillpoints as:

(character level + 1 - spell required level) = maximum current investment


So in the case of Blizzard, you can drop a single point in at level24, a second point at level25, etc. You have to be (at minimum) level43 before you can invest the 20 point maximum into Blizzard.

Synergies do exist in non-expansion. Just download the latest patch by connecting to the internet and click the battle.net button
