Currently this is my gear for my mercy and i am thinking of switching it

Insight
Rattlecage ( crushing blow )
Tal helm ( Leech )

Is it advisable to change to shaft + Guillaume's Face like said in the guide ? If thats the case my mercy would have to trade leech for crushing . So what do you guys think ?

Ideal setup would be:
+ infinity (has high damage and conviction aura helps your Corpse explosion)
+ andy visage (life leech and +2 skills to boost merc might aura)
+ fortitude (great defence and extra damage)

all of the above should be ethereal if you can get them.

if you are on ladder then it might not be realistic because too expensive.

Against Ubers you need tons of resist because of conviction right? So Chains of Honor Runeword + Gullahiames (CB) is a much better combo, with infinity of course the undisputed best weapon for a summoner.

:) just thought i should point that out, though your suggestion may be better for pure damage , i.e rushing people in hell or clearing areas for mf.

Well, the "ideal" setup is exactly what Perfect Hatred posted. I mean honestly...that's great that you pointed out that, in those very special cirucmstances (Ubers) where you need stacked resists, CoH and Guillaumes might be better than Fortitude and Andy's. But in the other 99.5% of the game, I would definitely be rocking a Fortitude on my merc.

I am thinking of getting duress runeword with talrasha helm and insight as infinity is to expensive .

Is there any other altenative that has crushing blow and leech like my intended setup ?

Well I've always wondered why more people don't use Hone Sundan Yari. Sure, it has low damage. But its got 45%(!) CB on it, and its got 3 open sockets. If you really like it, you could even try upping it, right? I mean you could throw an amn rune in there for starters, and then maybe a shael and eth...or amn + a couple 40/15 jewels in an upped yari. Seems all right to me. Something to think about.

Hone Sundan is a good weapon, but it can't compete with the high-end rune words. If you are on a budget it is a great weapon.

I just use insight, guillaime's face, and I don't give a crap what armor he has. Whatever I've found is fine.

Right now he has an eth atma's wail because that's what' I've found. He rarely dies, and if he does, my skellies do just fine finishing up that pack so I can go get his lazy butt from town.

As a skellimancer, if we do our job right, our merc shouldn't die more than once a game (except for those ****ing oblivion knights). And you can still manage them if you keep putting your clay golem on the oks. They always seem to cast decrep if you get something on them.


I know there's better weapons, but I just looooove my infinite mana that comes with an insight. His job is to get a body on the floor and then get out of my way. That's it.


Edit: all that expensive gear is worthless unless you are trying to do ubers. Just a waste of resources.
