View Full Version : The best build for Hell that is the least equipment dependent?

I really want to rifle through this ladder and finally make it to Hell and complete it just so I can say that I've done it. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to make many runs etc. to get all the good stuff so I need a character who can make it through by him/herself + merc without a need for uber-kick *** weapons or uber-kick *** armor. What do you suggest?

Fishymancer can get through Hell with no equipment at all.

MeteOrb or BlizzBaller Sorceresses can do it with items that you can easily get from NM Mephisto, or cheaply through trades.

LF/FA Amazon is also good for untwinked/unexpensive play.

Fishymancer all the way.

They're not exactly exciting, but they fit your criteria - no great gear needed.

i kind of like the pace of a fishy myself.

All strafezons need is the WF bow.
And they're a lot funner than fishymancers, which are the most boring class to play.

But WF is a very rare weapon. and strafer can do well with other weapons too. Eaglehorn, upped WWS, Lycander come to my mind. (not counting Faith, because it's probably more expensive than WF)

BAH I meant WWS, not WF. What's wrong with me! :P

Anyways, would everyone agree that bowazons are relatively cheap?

I think the cheapness goes as so:
Necromancer
Sorceress
Amazon
Druid?

And then everyone else, with Barb and Pally at the top.

i disagree.

there is a cheap build for every class.

all casters can use the same basic gear, focusing on fcr and resists and maybe some + skills (double spirit, maybe a vipermagi, some fcr rings).
builds: most sorc builds, hammerdin, bone-necro, wind-druid

some builds only need some +skills (and mabe not even that). the gear setup would probably be the same as for the caster classes or even cheaper (vendor bought).
builds: summon-necro, summon-druid, trap-assa

potentially expensive builds are mainly those who need a decent weapon to function and rely on the usually important attack stats (ias, crushing blow etc). but!: there are lots of cheap/mid-price weapon choices that work pretty well (oath, ribcracker, crescent moon and after a while in the ladder many elite unique weapons: baranars for 5 pgs for example at the end of last ladder).
builds: fana-zealer, all non-singer barbs, fury-druid, physical amazons

and then there are some builds that are always expensive, just because the basic idea relies on a high-end runeword.
builds: all aura or double-dream builds, infinity lightning sorcs

(list of builds isnt meant to be complete; some build examples may be argueable in the depending categories)
