View Full Version : Does infinity help your skeleton warriors much if at all?

I know it lowers defense, but I can't recall a time where my skellies had a hard time smacking things.

I'm obviously well aware that mages benefit hugely from infinity, but how do warriors stack up? Is there a noticeable difference? Is it better than pride?

Sure, infinity will help them hit. But infinity on your merc is used for the "first kill" for your CE chain to set off. CB is also nice for boss killing.

What is your play style, spam CE and move to the next pack or slowly watch your minions clear the screen. There's no corrrect answer for that, just how you prefer to play the game.

I tried both infinity and pride/might merc. I prefer infinity merc with insight/iron golem due to my play style. Although, neither is really needed, just speeds things up abit.

Infinity on your merc is nice for 4 reasons:

1) It has 40% crushing blow, so your merc chops away quite a bit of life of bosses in 2/5 hits.

2) It lowers monsters defense by 5/6. Hell Superuniques have a defense rating of 2-2.5k def. Lvl 30-40 Skellies have an attack rating of arround 1k.
So comparing 1000 : 2000-2500 or 1000 : 300-400 makes a difference.

3) It lowers res by 85%, so your mages finally do hurt a bit.

4) The most obvious has been named already, your CE gets improved by quite a bit.

Hey, I got a question, summonancer here.

what should I work on getting first, Infinity for my merc or a Beast for me.

Infinity will make a bigger difference to your runs than beast will.

Agreed. Beast is really nice and you definitely want to get one eventually...but having an Infinity merc is priority number one. Not only is the conviction aura great, but your merc easily becomes your best minion with Infinity. With Beast you get fanaticism but nothing else...are you really going to swing that axe at an enemy?

I was considering pride vs infinity.

Is the consensus that infinity is actually pretty much conclusively better? Also, I was also considering an insight IG, but maybe I could try a pride one when the runes get cheaper. Is pride just not that good?

EDIT: I just read a post in another thread and pride looks freaking TERRIBLE. No damage on it whatsoever, freezes target, etc. Heck, even making a Pride IG doesn't sound viable simply because it is so pricey. Oh well, I guess I'll be missing out on a nice aura :(

The general consensus is that Infinity > Pride.

I personally hate losing a good item on iron golems so I no longer make iron golems out of such expensive gear, but people do still build summoners with Pride (or Infinity or Beast) iron golems. The ultimate and most logical route would be, if you can afford it, to make a great Iron Golem out of Pride for:Inifinity/Might merc plus Beast plus Pride golem.

Yeah, if you have like 10 hrs or more, then a pride golem would make your skeletons nearly perfect, but most people don't have that kind of money. Jednowlosy's friend had a summoner with a pride golem that had lasted for half a year, but that same guy had bought a hacked item from an item site, so maybe he hacked it or something. Anyway, golem mastery reduces the chance that the iron golem dies, and enigma reduces the chance that it poofs, so if you have a couple of hrs, enigma and a high level golem mastery, a pride golem is a good option

I've heard that IG poofs randomly between games. How often would you say this happens?

I've got a bit saved up so I could definitely invest in a pride golem (I do like perfection - infinity, fanat, might, and conc might make me... "lose control"). I've never used an IG so I have ZERO experience with them.

Personally, I'm going for an Obedience Polearm first. The only real difference is the Conviction aura, and it is much much cheaper to create. Plus, on paper it looks like he'll be dishing out way more damage, especially when Enchant kicks in.

Ok, maybe part of the reason is also because a 5os Giant Poleaxe just dropped for me...

it's happened to me once on ladder so far. I do public baal runs, and my iron golem poofed when my game failed to create. I have lvl 20 golem mastery and I also have enigma and CTA so there is no way he poofed because I was too far away and his health bar never even moved the game before.

Probably done about 40 baal runs. I made another out of an insight since they are dirt cheap.

I have been known to Bear up and start whacking stuff, its fun. If you make in a Zerker (Really, if you plan on Enigma, the Str is nothing) you dish out a nice amount of damage, and have the CB on it too.

Personally, I would, and did, go Beast first. I never felt the need for an Infinity on a Summoner, to me its better used on a Lighting based character. Last season, I just kept a Insight on Merc for the CE spam (being able to spam/tele indefinitely >>> a bit more CE damage) and just put a Duress on him for the CB.

I also prefer Pride, because I would rather have the Conc aura, then Conviction. But even then, I would sooner put such things on another character.

I have tried infinity and I tried beast and it only matters if you're trying to do ubers.

For normal magic finding, I think an insight is best at making the experience less a pain in the ***.

Another thread noted that mages definitely hit a little harder with infinity, so I might consider that, giving infinity a bit more of a boost.

I'm more or less debating a pride or insight golem at this point. Being able to teleport or CE spam is great, but I like to be a perfectionist at the same time.
