"3 Perfect Skulls + 1 Rare Item + Stone of Jordan = Add 1 Socket To a Rare Item
Rare Items can only have one socket. You cannot add sockets to items that don't normally have sockets. You can not use this on a Rare with one socket. You can only add one socket to a zero socket Rare Item."

And you lose the Stone of Jordan, let's not forget that little detail.
It's very important to use 3 PS, not more and not less, or you might find the re-rolling recipe and lose all your good item's mods along with the SoJ.
I won't mention the number of PS needed for the reroll, because then people will likely remember that number rather then the 3.
Ahh okay. my friend socketed my sword for me before and he said it didnt cost him an soj. i wander how he did it :( (he hasnt been online in a long time otherwise i would ask). im assuming he must have known a way to glitch it. go figure.
but, if using an soj is the only way, man not sure if i can part with any of my precious soj's :(
it's been a while since i played. but about how valuable are soj's on d2 classic these days? i have several but hesitate to trade them because im not sure of their exact value and dont wanna get jipped.
I think they are only really valuable in ladder. Non ladder there are still prolly a lot of dupes around. But yeah they are one of the rare items to be find so they are quite valuable :) At least in terms of using for a socket.
But if your rare item is REALLY good close to perfect then socketing it will make it even more valuable and better. Then it is worth it. If u happen to get a prismatic maxblock +2 pala shield.. socketing pdiamond to that will add the value a lot.

He used a hack that reportedly (and hopefully) stopped working.
