Old rune words with new version

Since the ladder was reset and we have a new patch can we use old ladder only rune words on our (NOW) non-ladder characters that we used to play on the old ladder? Also, has anyone seen or heard of new ladder only rune words?

The patch was only a no-cd patch, similar to what brood war got, not much more to say.

- If all required Diablo 2 '.MPQ' files are installed on the hard drive, the game will no longer require the CD to play.

For users that originally performed a 'Full Installation' and wish to run without the CD, all '.MPQ' files should be copied from the Diablo 2 CDs to the Diablo 2 directory. Most users will only need to copy D2Music.mpq from the Diablo 2 Play CD and/or D2xMusic.mpq from the Lord of Destruction CD. Mac users will need to copy these music files and rename them to 'Diablo II Music' and 'Diablo II Expansion Music' respectively.

Anyone who did not perform a 'Full Installation' will need to re-install from CD again to ultimately play without the CD. In this case, a 'Full Installation' is required, followed by file
copy step noted above.

ladder only runewords will not work on non-ladder. The patch has nothing to do with that. New runewords were not added.

Thanks, I just need to clarify though.... my previous characters before the ladder reset were ladder characters, but now they are just regular. Since I started them off in ladder can I still use the previous ladder only rune-words with them. I want to use Spirit for my Pally, but it's ladder only. It would really suck if I had a previous ladder character who was made un-ladder due to the reset and now I can't take full advantage of him, despite all the work I put into him before.

The "old" ladder characters are now no different from the "old" non-ladder characters. So you can no longer make a spirit with your but ANY character can use the items from the "old" ladder.

In short - yes, you can use the ladder-only runewords.

I guess I wasn't clear enough. You cannot make spirits on non-ladder. It doesn't matter wheter it's an old ladder character or not - it's impossible to make them on non-ladder.

You can use any spirits that got converted from the "old" ladder. So if you wan't a spirit on non-ladder you have to trade for one.
