I'm just making sure on this. My skeletons/merc still get my MF if i switch to MF gear right before he dies, right?

Also, do you wear your MF only on Baal/Meph etc or trash mobs too?

Yes, Skellies get the the MF even then.

Until I started getting the end game pieces (ie pieces that give huge armor/abilities and huge MF%) I stuck with more survivability. The only thing I would swap out would be my gull/milabregas for my wand/whitstans after summoning. And then only when doing easy things like pits or pindle.

Now I have almost a perfect ladder fishy and most of his gear is either too good to consider swapping out for the MF counterpart (now that I have homunculus I don't even consider using milabregas) or the gear has tons of MF built into it, like Enigma.

This is one example of how I look at my gear (shields in particular) when deciding what to wear in regards to MFing(when I'm reasonably sure I won't die due to that decision)
Milabregas- has 20 %MF
Homonculous- Has +2 to skills
vs.
Milabregas -20%mf
Whitstans Guard - maxed block

While we are indeed a MF class, in the first instance the +2 to skills is going to allow you to kill much faster and thus get more chances at drops. The 20% mf simply does not make up for the speed you can clear the map.
In the second example, milabrega's vs whitstans, I would choose Milabregas because I don't plan on dying so the 20% mf will help me more than extra protection.

Edit: Also, as a minion necro, your best bet is just fighting trash mobs, but the trash mobs found in level 85+ areas like the pit. You really shouldn't be farming baal or diablo until you have alot of +skill items (like +15 or more). The fight time is not worth it considering the bosses in the level 85 areas can drop evertyhing that baal and diablo drop.

Mf on the character benefits the character and his minions. Mf on the merc benefits only the merc.
I don't like homu on a summoner. Only +2 to summoning.

What would be better for a summoner then? What else has max block and gives +2 skills for a meager 58 str? (Not to mention all the other tasty things hom gives)

Im curious, because I want the best fishy I can get lol.

Max block isn't necessary for a summoner imo. A bugged shield ith +5 summon grants you another skelly and another mage. Homunculus is still a good option iff you don't have enough free time though
