Fast question about D1

Sorry I can't find a good place to ask this.
My end of D2 and new D3 announcement let me want to play D1 again (only finished normal).

Is there something like Atma for that game? Or how can I save drops?

there are 3rd party editors, "diablo trainer" or something like that..

If you're not concerned about transferring items between different characters, then items can be simply left on the ground. The game saves them there. I remember having huge weapons collections laid out on the edges of town.

Ah, I forgot that! (got used to D2)

No, the items dissapear when you start a new game - e.g. after killing diablo.

I remember that I used to search for dragon's rings of the zodiac (max would be 60mana / 20 stats) for my mage and duplicating them, via the belt method when I finally found something similar, ah the good times : )

Anyway, Ive played diablo 1 for few days like 6months ago and I couldnt kill diablo with my mage; no idea why - perhaps level 1 fireball wasnt enough? : )
