don't think anyone's pointed this out yet.

shortly after he starts playing the witch doctor, he runs in somewhere (looks like he's fighting a goatman shaman or something?) and stops...

he then says "This is a nasty trap, fortunately we have some backup" and the barb comes in and smashes everything.

I didn't really see what was going on the first time thru but now i can tell that the witch doctor appears to be stuck in place; in addition, all his skills are red! he can't do anything.

nifty :D

gonna be nasty in SP..

I think that was mostly done for effect since it was at that point the female versions of the classes were introduced.

Not a trap. From the high res video, they encountered a unique monster which had a nasty attack and spells, as well as a horde of supporting troops.

I also wanted to point this out when I saw the movie, but forgot. Thanks for reminding us.

I do not like it.
Everything that takes away control of the character for that long (3 seconds is long for a Diablo game) is not good. Rooting in place is fine, but disabling all user input is not.

Naw its good, makes the game more challenging.

Could be stone curse, or a variant of such :whistling:

I downloaded the HD trailer, noticed that its actually a Frost nova-esque AE attack from the unique monster. The nova effect was really quick and its hard to notice, but you can tell when the barb and the WD were frozen in place afterwards, semi-encased in ice.

it's scripted to some degree, since they both tried to hit that goatman shaman a couple of times, and he was untouchable before nailing them with the stone nova attack. I presume that's your warning as a player to back off, though telling sneaky intangible monsters from regular lag could be a challenge.
