Here it is; the official d3 forum introductions thread! Tell us something about yourself, how long you've been following Diablo or Blizzard games, what interested you in D3, etc.

I might as well start, and I'll partially curtail my natural impulse to write way too much by pointing to the bio I've got on my wiki user page (http://www.diablowiki.net/User:Flux).

More to the point of this thread, I've been an admin, newshound, feature writer, and the main content person on dii.net since about 1998. I traveled to E3 and Blizzard North to play pre-release, and played countless hours of D2 and D2X in the early days; mostly hardcore. I semi-retired from this site around 2003, and only got back into active webmastering a couple of years ago, when I spent a year and a half building and running our HGL site (http://hellgate.incgamers.com/). You all know how that turned out.

In a rare display of good timing, I returned to working on this site earlier this year, and since then I've been building up the Diablo Wiki (http://www.diablowiki.net) and hoping Blizzard would announce D3 sometime soon, while not really believing they ever would. Now that they have, I'm excited to follow the game's development, and I'm happy to be again working on the best Diablo site on the internet.

I started out as a Diablo 1 player. From that moment I was hooked on the game.
When Diablo 2 was announced I followed it from the start on that horrible forum that Blizzard opened, where you did not even have to register to post.
Played Diablo 2 for a very long time before eventually fleeing to Guild Wars for about half a year and then moving on to WoW, wich had been running for a year already at that time.

But now I'm back, ready to follow the development of Diablo 3.

I also decided to register on a forum, and chose this site again because I had been here before from my Diablo 2 time. Unfortunately I could not recall what account I had used then.

Played D, then D2, then D2x from release onwards. Recently got back into D2x when my flatmate expressed an interest. Have been basically dormant for a while until I heard the news... at work... I might have whooped... People looked at me funny. But who cares, finally, finally we have D3

I first got into Diablo when I played the orignial on a pc gamer cd. I was totally hooked. When dial-up was the only way to get online; I would spend 6+hours a day using our only phone line to play. I bought D2 the day it was released, same with the Expansion. I quit about 4 years ago due to it consuming my life. Since then I started my own business http://www.mohawkdesignstudio.com and work in human services. However im fearful it will all be lost once D3 hits...

I had only played a few computer games in my life, growing up on NES and SNES and such. Everyone at a message board I went to was talking about their D2 characters. I got it for my birthdays a few months after it had come out. Unfortunately, the paper that the CD key was written on looked like it had fallen to the floor, been stepped on, and slapped back on. It was folded, barely sticking, and illegible.

I was very excited about playing, but had to exchange it for a new one. The first character I made was a sorc. I decided that it was too frustrating waiting for my mana to fill back up after about 10 minutes and made a summon necro. I got to act 3 and decided to start playing online.

I made a holy fire pally (not good back then, either). I found my first unique, the chieftain.

From there I played D2 off and on for 8 years. I bought the expansion as soon as my local Best Buy opened and made a vengeance pally that was awesome. I was never very rich, since I quit and started at least a dozen times. I mostly liked leveling my characters up, and quickly became bored of them once I got to the end-game exp run part. I made over 150 characters I'm sure, shying away from the strongest builds.

I'm 22 years old male and I'm also studying history at the Helsinki university (Finland). On the side of studying, I work as a clerk/personnel in a small book shop. I got married young, so I just spent my two year anniversary. No kids at the moment but I hope having them in the future, whatever that might mean.

I found Diablo series through my brother who introduced me to the demo where the last enemy is butcher (two first levels playable only). It was before the release of the original Diablo.

I played a lot of Diablo back then, mostly LAN. Good times.

Pre-ordered D2. Got it a week late. I was an angry teenager by then. Anyway, didn't find the b.net aspect of the game until LoD came out. Even then, only played like a year until FPS games got me going (RtCW ftw). After 1.10 been playing on and off, mostly off.

I like to hype, speculate and circulate rumors. The last game I really bothered to play was D2:lod and some FPS games in LAN, so I really don't play anything, but I like to follow what's going on. I might like that even more than gaming itself :)

So thank you for providing me with such a good and reliable source to Diablo universe!

I'd heard of the Diablo series for a while, so when I saw D1 for $20 about 4-5 years ago I snapped it up and started off with my first character. A few weeks and many hours later, and a lot of nagging from my mum, telling me to get off the computer, and I'd killed Diablo. This was my first game addiction ever, indeed the first game that I actually thought about when I wasn't playing. If I didn't get my "fix" every night I'd feel like crap! Eventually killed Diablo with a few characters but I never really got to play online.

Then came DII, and the word "addiction" got a whole new meaning. Combining the amount of time I played SP and Bnet, as well as D2X about a year later, and I reckon it'd be around 1000 hours, perhaps even more. Add in time spent on these forums, of which I've been a member of for 2-3 years, and that's so much time spent on one game that I don't really want to think about it...

Now D3. I was seriously so excited when I saw the official site that I felt a kind of "tingly" feeling in my stomach. It took at least 24 hours for it to sink in, I was literally that amazed.
Just snatched the gameplay vid off a friend, and spent 2 hours watching it, first in normal then in slow-motion, checking out all the skills that get moused over :)

So that's it for me. One thing though, can someone tell me about these so called "Developer Panels"? What are they and where can they be downloaded? Did any really interesting questions get answered?

Where do i even begin?

Believe it was way back in late '96 when I first got my hands on the demo version of Diablo I, and that was my moment I have officialy became hooked for life. Through Diablo I, that crappy Hellfire expansion, the gloriousy Diablo II, LoD and more patches and mods than I'd be willing to admit, these series of games have easily consumed a MONSTROUS part of my life in the last decade or so.

Been a member of diabloii.net since early 2002 I believe, and now that there's suddenly a Diablo III in the making, I hope to see some fammiliar faces again, and get accquainted with many new diabloholics such as myself.

P.S- the dude who took Lord_Vega better watch his back, hehe ;)

I've been here for a long time... I was a frequent Diablo 2 player, and I would come to dii.net a lot. When I retired from d2 oh... 4 years ago or so, I frequented the OTF forum, until I got the Webmaster job for GWOnline.net. Worked for about 2 years, one as an editing admin, fixing code changes and running the forums, and one as the main admin, running everything. I play(ed) HGL and visited that site fairly frequently before real life got in the way. Now, with the announcement of D3, I'm back into D2 and these forums ;)

I'm 25 and I play Diablo for 12 years... that's nearly half of my life! I just got started, back in 1996, with that addictive 2 level demo that introduced me to The Butcher... I got so impressed by that guy that it took me sometime to recover from that creepy voice and death filled surroundings... Immediatly after, I got the complete version of Diablo and just knocked myself out with it. Too many hours, nights, mornings, holydays, weekends... you name it. I covered the game from top to bottom, with all 3 characters over and over again. Eventually started my experience in bnet and was very disappointed with the outcome... too many hackers and cheaters. I got bored of bnet soon enough and just went back to SP. I never had the luck (or unluck some may say) to get my hands no Hellfire though.
When Diablo II was announced, I was just delightfull and covered all the details of it. The ansiety caused by it's antecipation was overwhelming. And as soon as it was on the stores, I got my copy. I believe that where I live, I was the first one to get that, because too many people came to my house to play it and see me ravaging through Act I. From that time on I have play DII to this day, mainly on SP ou LAN. Rarely on bnet...
Since the rumors of a Diablo III game started (a long time ago) I just get every little bit of information about and suck it to the bone, and when these rumors got deeper and more solid I just can't stop thinking about it and started to discuss some of them in this forum. I registered this year in spite of lurking for about 4 years. This as always been my main source of information on Diablo II.
Now that Diablo III is on the forge and a near (maybe not?!) future reallity, I just expect it to bring "fresh meat" to us Diablo fans, however I hope that the dev. team keeps the same basis, namely the deep importance of the lore, the misticism, the unclear connections between Heaven, Hell and Sanctuary and that deep and intense aura that involves the lore and the plot.

Hello Community!

I am 27 years old and I am a Blizzard fan since the first minute of playing D1. Although I have played D1 and D2 a lot, I am quite new to playing Diablo online, because I had no Internet access back then. We played small LAN Sessions with no more than 4 players, so I look forward to my first real battlenet experience with D3. I am definitely not a hardcore 24/7 gamer, but I enjoy spending some of my free time bashing monsters and slashing demons. Who doesn't, ey?

I keep a small blog dedicated to D3, located at http://diablo3secrets.blogspot.com/ where I will publish my experiences with the game and collect links to interesting articles and discussions.

The reason I am here and not over at the official Blizzard Forum is the friendly atmosphere. What the heck is wrong with the people over there? Or did I just read the wrong threads?

Well, however... Can't wait for D3, although I know how long it might be until I can finally play it...

I am 40 years old swedish male and was playing Diablo back in 1996 when it came out in sweden and then some years. After a while me and a friend of mine started the 'Swedish Diablo II' site. That went on for some years until Diablo II came out (played it like crazy) and then a bit after the expansion pack came out I just stopped playing Diablo II, stopped with the site and never turned back really. Never even played WOW if don´t count the beta that I´d tried.

BUT now I am all over D3

Let's see... I was introduced to D1 by a friend shortly after it came out and I was hooked. I started frequenting Dii.net in late 1998 just to keep abreast of the latest news on the development of DII. Pre-ordered the collectors edition the first day it was available.

I bet that if I added it all up, I could break down my cost of playing DII in hours per penny - I've spent so much time playing DII - it's the biggest addiction that I've ever had. I still play single player on players 8 and mainly run a defense based sorcy.

I was an active member of the single player forum from 2001-03. I still drop in from time to time. I also contributed some writing for Dii.net in 03'.

Looking forward to the release of D3 and keeping up on the news.

D2 was my first online game. I couldn't count the number of days I must have whittled away on it. Spent several years playing D2 exclusively before it just clicked that I had accomplished all I would ever be able to in the game, and it just felt like there was nothing left to do, so I stopped playing. That was 5 or 6 years ago. After that I moved onto Warcraft 3, then Star Wars Galaxies, and then (and still to an extent) World of Warcraft.

Once I heard that D3 was probably going to be announced at the WWI, I started getting urges for D2 again. Now I've gone full circle and i'm back where my online gaming addiction began, with D2.

Have to say, I have never been as excited for a new game as I am with D3. I'm looking forward to hearing more information as it gets released. :)

Hello all. I am a 22 year old female from DFW, Texas.
I started playing Diablo 2 a few years ago, and i pretty much haven't done anything else since i started playing! I still can't believe that i had never played the game before a few years ago, but i generally stick to console gaming, and i'm a big fan of Nintendo.

It's nice to meet you all. :)

Yeah, I forgot to mention, I got into the Diablo 2 stresstest. Remember the beta to test battle.net capacity? :) The storyline was only up to Blood Raven, which become the boss everyone run. The best items were gems, which had to be upgraded without the cube = gem shrines! :) Perfect gems were really pricey. Barbarian was the only playble class, with masteries and bash as skills. The highlest level character was 22 in the ladder, but it was really grindy after low teens.

Anyone remember the stresstest or participated in it? I still feel lucky to find a gem shrine and kind of that magical feeling when cold plains opens up to stony field :)

I always feel like these introductions should go something like “HI! I’m a Taurus from Pennsylvania! My likes are kittens, chocolate and the beach! My dislikes are tomatoes, the dark, and mean people!”

But instead, I’ll write that I am originally from Pennsylvania, USA, and moved to The Netherlands in 2007. My boyfriend introduced me to the wonderful game of Diablo 2: LOD at that time, and now I am an addict! He’s been playing forever, since the original Diablo, and now in just a couple of months I think I’m more into it than he is! Both of us are really excited about D3, though. We drooled over the gameplay video a couple of times. Can’t wait!

This is my first post ever on these forums, I’ve mostly been lurking for months. Hopefully that will change! Hello to everyone here!

p.s... In some of the other forums, they steal things from you and kick you. They don't do that here, do they?

Well I've started playing Diablo since the first one came out. I became a huge fan of it and basically followed it through all its history ( Hellfire included ) I've been playing D2X for quite some years now as most ppl here lol. I have read all the books out to date. I just became a member of this site but that doesnt mean that I'm new to it, this has been my main source for information from the times of Diablo 2. I decided to join when D3 was announced and here I am, keeping myself up to date with everything that happens until the game is finally out

I am 22 years old and I was/am an addict. DII was my addiction for many years. I played UsWest Hardcore only, a few months before v. 1.09, all of v. 1.09 and several seasons of v. 1.10. Now and then I'd take a 'break'. I'm sure most of you know what I mean.

I was primarily a ladder runner, never getting the very top spots but I was usually up around there. The fun evetually died down as most of my friends moved on with their lives, and I eventually moved on as well. I look forward to being a 'social' gamer of DIII. We'll see how that goes...

Im 16 (youngest?) Lol, and Iv played Both D1 and D2 after having a great experience with WC3. Man, I loved D2, and finished the game, but couldn't get into the online experience, because it was so old compared to WC3. Hope that my D3 experience will be as great as my WC3 one was!

Well for the gaming profile - I've been playing Diablo 2 on and off since a few months before the release of the expansion. Every time I come back to Diablo I seem to play it with more intensity than ever before, and have banned myself from it as a result, for the mean time. Since starting, I've explored Diablo in every way possible, Single Player and Bnet, pvp and pvm, modded and vanilla, current version and prepatch versions, hardcore and softcore, classic and LoD and have widened by playing experience with multiple self-imposed challenges (half-naked MA sin soloing hell on HC? Tick). First non-arcade game I remember loving is the legendary Dungeon Keeper, probably back in 1998 or so, before moving mostly on to FPSs (Unreal Tournament) and RPGs (guess:whistling:). Guild Wars is the only game I've been into as seriously as Diablo 2, and right now I'm most into top down wasd type shooters, from Geometry Wars to Ikaragua.

Greetings all. I'm 26, and I've been playing the diablo series ever since that D1 demo that takes you to the butcher came out and I purchased D1 right around release and loved it.

I ordered the d2 collectors edition that came in the giant box with the pen and paper, soundtrack stuff etc (I'm sure some of you must have seen it). There was no collectors edition of the LOD expansion pack but if there is one for D3 I'm all over it. I also participated in the stress test for d2 where the barb was the only char available. I did play through hellfire as well but I don't recall that much about it as it didn't feel like a true diablo experience.

I can honestly say this is my favourite franchise and I hope D3 lives up to it's predecessors.

Heya! I've been a fan since the game was released in 1996 and became an addict soon after. Even lost a cushy job once cuz I spent way too much time on this game when I shd be sleeping/working/eating. So far I had only one lvl 99 character - an amazon, though nowadays I can't be bothered to build any character beyond 95. I have been an active trader in the East forums since 2000. Unfortunately there are hardly any old timers left who remembers me frm back then. Remember Eastern Sun mod anyone?

it came with the first computer i got in 1997. i hated it! i didn't know what i was doing. i had more luck with Zork at that point. oh yeah, on top of all that, it was a freakin' boys game. so, i ignored it.

when i got a new computer in 1999, i was much more computer literate and had been playing complex rpgs, so i reinstalled Diablo and actually had fun. been playing it ever since.

don't get mad at me, but *whispers* i still prefer it to D2.

I took it back up in about a year once the ladder had reset and I did much better then the first ladder. Eventually I quit again after about a year. I took it up a third time hours after the next ladder reset and I must say I had some pretty good chars xD currently I'm retired again and just waiting for D3 to come out:thumbup:

Hey, I am George and I'm 16 years of age
I have played D2 since I'm not sure when, but not for half as long as it has been out.
Was never that great with it so I've been an on and off player but still LOVE the game.
Played WoW for about 10 months or something.
Don't play any video games now really, cept some internet Tetris ;), but D3 is the only game I've ever wanted since before it was announced, and is the game that got me the most excited out of any other video game.
I'm liking the look of the majority of what I've seen of D3 and I can't complain much as it looks like it's gunna be a fantastic game. Looks like I'm going to be a Barbarian at this stage no matter what other characters they announce, although I must say the Witch Doctor appealed greatly to me today, but not quite enough sadly

Hello! 31 male from Sweden. Never got around to finish D1 but have played D2 and LoD quite alot since 2000 and still do, mostly with a friend of mine or single player. Was involved in the HGL beta and purchased it but like several others stopped playing in November (actually reinstalled this weekend, sadly still not so impressed). Never tried WoW and dont plan to.

Have been snooping around here for some time but never registered, but with the Greatest Announcement of all Time (henceforth known as the GAT) it was time to get involved. And like most here: Cant wait to get my hands on D3!

Hey all. I started playing Diablo 1 when it came out among other games, and then I played Diablo 2 seriously for years until WoW came out. (D2 was my longest played game until WoW came out). Crazy timing, though, since I just canceled my WoW account a couple months ago, and now I'm excited to follow the development of D3!

I used to read the diabloii.net forums quite a bit when I played D2 and finally created an account towards the end and posted a bit. I barely remembered my login name and it's kind of weird to see that my last login was November 20, 2005 at 18:44...

Well this was a bit of a full circle for myself. I used to write for a competing website back in the diablo 2 release days. I wrote articles and reported news for Diablo Forge, posted in the diabloii.net forums and was in both d2 beta's and the stress test for the expansion. I was either going by this name or LaMagra (name I wrote under.)

The diablo 3 announcement drew me back to diablo 2 and I am back playing the expansion. I'm a 25 year old IT Professional from Edmonton, Alberta... that's in Canada for you slower folks/americans.

I been reading this page for a LONG time! I started by playing diablo 1 back in late 1996/1997. I really got into it in feb 1997 when i had a nasty ear infection which made me home bound for few weeks!

I did d2 beta test and then stress test, some of my items were posted on here (from beta) and some magazine interviews me since i was top3 on the west stress test level ladder. I got to lvl 21 just by doing First 2 areas :)

I been here ever since, i used to be a big poster on the old bnet forums (the ones with tree style forums) when they weren't moderated and did not require cdkeys:)

I have been retired since late 2003, and just read now awaiting d3.

Heck, flux and i been corresponding on and off (i think i emailed him d2 beta items screenshots) for the last 8 years

Hey, hey hey.

19 years old, college student just chillin chillin in the southeast US of A. Got back after college for the summer and started work, realized quickly that I would need a rewarding game that didn't cost me anything to burn up my free time. Had been playing a lot of DotA in college, that got old fast. Tried playing some first person shooters, some SSBB, but was really lookin for something to get immersed in. I bounced around quite a bit going through my old games (HGL, GW, Fable, even KOTOR) before finally deciding on d2exp. Right when d3 was announced, me and all my friends went nuts and it was like a freshman year reunion, we all picked it back up and are all playing currently.

Check me on the East HCL, c0lt_45 is the account. I will be getting d3 the day it comes out for sure, and will be pwnin some monsties for years to come

Hello BQ

I started D2 in september 2004 with single player, moved to Bnet a month later. Following my registration i have been quite active on these forums, especially the East trading one.

Nowaday i'm more often playing the PS3 (MGS4, Rockband and GTAIV) but i still log on and play some D2. I didn't start that the new ladder but all my NL chars are regulary refreshed.

It's fun to see so many new peeps around here, and older ones that come back because of D3.

Hi, guys.

Anyways, I'm John from Oregon. I first played Diablo II back in 2002. It would prove to suck up many hours of my time. I thought all the ****ing weapons were cool, and I loved being a necromancer. But that Delial at the end of ACT II was one tough sonofa*****! I would go on to play Warcraft III after finishing this game. But my memory of this game has laxed.

I'm in good company with Zalcitabine and BattleQueen going before me.

I dabbled with Diablo 1 and then again a couple years later with Diablo 2 in single player only. It was around 2004 when my son purchased another copy of the game that I started playing it with more enthusiasm and soon became, as many have already stated, "addicted". I've been through 2 ladder resets and consider myself a builder rather than a magic finder. I became intrigued with the many possible and interesting character classes and skill combinations and I sought to come up with a truly unique and all powerful build that nobody had tried before. I don't think that is possible anymore but, I have tried countless builds and have even authored a couple guides on particular builds in which I had interest.

I'm am looking forward to Diablo 3 to continue my addiction.

A special thanks to the founders and moderators here at diii.net. It is while interacting on these very professionally run forums that I have exchanged ideas and loot :alright: with numerous nice persons I have met and continue to meet throughout the world.

I am now 29. I first played the D1 demo at a friend's house back in highschool. I was using drugs at the time, but the demo was so fun I didn't get around to using the small amount of drug I had brought with me that night. The next day we had to get up early for school.

A while latter, I visited another friend's house and I stayed up all night playing a D1 warrior. I visited again later and this time my friend had bnet access. The noteworthy points were: we wasted far too much time chatting with people, and my friend tried to show me how to dupe elixers. He spent 20 minutes or so trying this silly method where you drop it and pick it up really fast or something. I learned that at this rate, it was a complete waste of time. Later on, my friend told me of all the hacks he had found on the internet where he could mess up anyone he wanted to by making their stuff disappear or something. He also claimed his armaggedon mage could take out my warrior easily. I never played D1 online again.

Later, I bought a computer just so I could play d1. I had college coming up anyway, so that was a secondary good excuse to buy a computer. I got a warrior named Jesus Christ up to lev 38 or 39 with all the zodiac gear and what not. I didn't have internet access so no bnet.

Later, d2 came out and I got dial up. Lots of lag got me killed alot. I had a thing for lancazons, just because ms bowazons were so cookie cutter at that time. When LoD came out, I thought the assassin and druid look like the most retarded classes ever designed. I never played them, and I hated how all the pelts and claws would drop instead of classic gear.

Later, university came along and I couldn't play for many years. When I started up again, it was a whole new ballgame. When people wanted keys I wondered why they didn't just buy them from Akara. My computer by that time was too old and made me invalid in partys. I stopped playing for a while due to lag.

Later, I bought a $1000 new computer with 2 gigs plus some video RAM and the lag problems went away forever. I became known as a god on bnet by some friends. I spent a long time trying to get a perfect bowazon build. Javazons had become the new cookie cutter builds, so I felt it was OK and somewhat original to make a powerful bowazon. I had made 2 lev 96 bowazons, one lev 95, and a few lev 70-80's. I finally got the glass cannon build perfected and the only thing I don't have is a 45-120 artisan's tiara of nirvana (30 dex) which was always a sort of holy grail for me. After solving the riddles of a the bowazon, I went after the ladder.

I had started up on bnet a bit late in the ladder season and I never made it to the bottom which was lev 97. The ladder was anounced to be reset, so I was thrilled and spent long hours pacing around planning out my ladder zon. She would basically be the same build as before which would be hard to level fast due to the reliance on gear, but the end reward would be great independance and power. Unfortunately, I did not factor in Baal bots...these allowed people to level faster than myself. My glass cannon could not risk stepping through someone else's tp in a run because one bad tp could spell my chr's death and exp loss. I got to lev 96, but about 40 hours of solo playing from reaching the bottom of ladder. I realized that I wanted to play legit and not depend on brats and their cookie cutter baal runs. This meant I would automatically fail at making the ladder.

Meanwhile, my face was developing these large red patches. I realized it must be from my faulty monitor, pehaps with a leak in the cathode tube (not sure). I learned that the old clunky monitors emit xrays (the dark screen I'm told contains a lead shield to block some of these rays). X-rays are part of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum with higher frequency than ultrviolet rays and will pass through all tissues except bone and teeth causing damage.

I got a device that allowed me to play d2 on my old TV set, but the picture was blurry and I had no sound. I had to tell all my friends to use CAPSLOCK when messaging me--it was the only way I could read. I managed to make out some of the blurry words people used in trades, but it really was bad when they told me to join norm games which was always some random string of letters and numbers which I could not decipher. I would have to write "Wait!!!" Then, "Can you capslock the game name?" They would say "?" and I would have to explain my TV for monitor situation. It made for some strange trade games. Sometimes we would set up a trade, and the guy would say "goto ferr1//12" and they would jump out right away so it was a loss of effort. Even worse, I would host Chaos runs and I could not read my own game number because the TV plastic frame around the screen cut off the top right corner of the screen. I had to ask the leechers what game it was.

In time my face healed. Later, I got a huge flat screen monitor for Christmas. My power and wealth on USEast increased substantially. Recently, the ladder reset again. With nothing left to accomplish except the pride of being on the ladder, I decided to compete again. I realized all those years of trying to make ladder could have resulted in success if I had been playing hc instead. Just looking at the hc ladder showed a much lower level at the bottom. I guess there are fewer bot runs and legit baal runs due to pk problems. So, having overplayed the amazon, I started a hc bonemancer on new hc ladder.

Things were going perfectly. After the ladder reset, I spent 6 days playing d2 all day. I made it to the 80th spot on the hc ladder playing only solo since all of my friends were sticking to non-ladder or sc. Then, low and behold, d3 gets anounced. So I figgure "what's the point?" and I stopped playing for a few days since d3 is coming out anyways. I started spending my time on these forums reading and writing about d3. I go back on bnet every few days and play for several hours, but my necro has fallen way the hell down to the 300's on the ladder. So I spent many years playing, had wonderful times and great experiences, but I never managed to conquer the ladder as I had hoped. It was a fun obsession, but think of how all of what we have built up on d2 may be in vain since d3 is going to knock our socks off and we won't have time for much serious d2 play.

In any case, I'm buying it, you're buying it, and I'll hope to see you all there in d3 land spending another 10 years making so many mistakes.

Hi! I've been playing Diablo it came out when i was a kid. I reinstalled both D1 and D2 for fun and love them both. I am now level 76 (paladin) on Hardcore @ USwest. I'm excited for D3 and Looking forward to meeting you all and discussing the current changes! I used to be on diablofans.com but the community there was arrogant and closed minded so I came here. The forums here seem much more mature and organized, I know I'll have fun. :)

Hey everyone! Diablo has been a part of my life for quite a long time. I remember sitting around allll day in my big brother's room watching him play ..waiting.. for my chance to play for an hour or 2! As I got older n was able to buy my own comp, I spent countless hours playing D1 and D2/D2X. I hadn't played Diablo in a few years but last year I was sick of playing WoW and decided to reinstall D2X. I had a blast! The game is a classic, and, in my opinion, the Diablo franchise set the bar for RPGs. I cannot wait until D3 is released so it can continue the legacy!!

Started playing D2 a few months before I joined this forum. I have been playing computer games since the days of the C64.

Strategy is more interesting than blasting - most of the time. I'm not adverse to kicking the life out of something sometimes. IK+ on the C64 was fun and one of my most fun moments was killing something using a side view fly-by in Frontier. :D That and taking out a Puma with a starter laser.

I graduated university in law and that gives me the ability to rip through information quickly and take the relevent information from it. It gives me the tenacity to keep going to get the right result. Bannees will tell you how tenacious I am. :)

I enjoy collating info and my design experience really helps me when putting FAQ's or guides together.

Although I mainly play softcore, I do have one Guardian and I'm working on the others. Mainly I play sorceresses, although I have Mats/Pats of all classes. I have few Pallys/Druids but I probably play those less than the others. I also enjoy a little PvP although with the rules of the SPF and not pubbies!

I'm looking forward to new classes and skills in D3. I will almost certainly stay SP or MP over TCP/IP rather than play Bnet.

Im 22. I never played the first, but I got the 2nd right after it came out. I didn't play it much online until the expansion came out and version 1.09 made things a bit more interesting. I been playing it since. Never bothered to join until now, now that Diablo III is announced finally. Nothing more fun than to pointlessly argue and debate over future releases:yes:

Im PvM only and made about 14 characters, 11 that are nicely geared up. I enjoy using the really unorthodox builds, like my absurd singing Barb. Nothing I enjoy more though are Necromancers. I pray that he will return.

This series is the only one I really ever enjoyed playing online. I was a huge Smash Brothers Brawl fan when it came out. But Diablo III, that'll eclipse that game by a thousand-fold.

I'm 27 and I've been playing Blizzard games since Warcraft, from there I went to Starcraft then a friend let me borrow acopy of Diablo and I was hooked from then on. My favorite D2X builds have been summoning Necro, Cold Sorc and Elemental Druid. The only character I've never really cared for was the Assassin. I'm hoping the Assassin doesn't make a return in D3. I've played every PC Blizzard game except WoW. Recently I've been playing Guild Wars and enjoying it so far. From what I've seen of D3 so far its everything I've been expecting.

I started playing Diablo 1 back in High School - totally loved it, though went off it when it was overrun with hacks etc.

Picked up Diablo II soon after it came out - was about V1.04 by then and it was another level up - though the real atmosphere of D1 was never replicated.

Got D2X pre-ordered and kept at it. I stopped playing whilst v1.10 was still under wraps due to various reasons (bored of the game, different priorities, etc) and have just recently recommenced playing - albeit very casually.

Totally looking forward to D3 and cannot wait to see what Blizzard do with it - naturally they have some HUGE shoes to fill...

Intros, eh? Well, I bought the original Diablo on budget in 2000, and had a blast playing it through. Noticed that the sequel was out on full price, so bought it, played through and defeated Diablo once (with a Sorc, in unpatched Classic!), and then kind of went off it for a year or two.

Then the expansion came out, and I rediscovered the game--this time I really got into it, helped by reading this very site! I play pretty much exclusively in single player mode--tried Battle.net once, didn't like it, never went back.

Stopped playing D2 in 2005 or thereabouts to move to WoW, but stopped playing that 14 months later, and the news of D3 brought me back into the fold...

Hi all. where do I start.
Huge Fan of the Diablo series. I never got to in depth with the game. By that I mean I always kept referring to this site for formulars and character guides,
what the best weapons where and such. I never posted much, but read alot. I would always log on here before I started playing to get the latest news.
I had Diablo1 and the warcraft series on my very first computer, played through D1 using the amazon, I remember on the last few levels, i would just shoot my bow into the darkness while standing in a door way and hoping to hit an enemy.
Oh and the power of the save, if u hit the quick save button instead of load u were stuffed.

Bought Diablo 2 when it came out, played for about a month off line. Found it very slow for me and hard to find all the other items what were out there.
Of course I started with a Necro, such a cool skill raising skeletons. I felt sorry for my 64mb of ram though when i had 30+ on the screen.
I got the internet, played online, loved it.
Expansion came out, how jealous was I seeing the USA standing there in the chat channels with these new characters 2 weeks prior to me getting them. :( I played up until the patch came out with the synergies and torches, prime super bosess. I played for a little bit of that patch, but none of my characters could solo them, so I stopped de to that, my family and my work commmitments.

Ive been part of many clans, pk teams, I had my fair share of duped items, my fare share of mules full of dupes. Frowned upon I know, but I think its all part of the experience.

Now the dark side of the game, it took 7 years away from my girlfriend(now wife) and my 2 boys.
I'm now married with 3 kids and worried about even starting playing again as my time on the PC is minimal these days.

How do you family guys balance life work and play??
And when this game rewards you with items and skills the more you play. If you want these things in a hurry you have to play alot.

I dont know if I will get sucked into it like I did when I was younger, we'll have to wait and see.

'sup.
I'm 25.
It started with Diablo demo. I remember Butcher killing me about 20 times before I could finally nail him. He still is the scariest monster I had to face in any game ever. I played Diablo when only the lucky bastards had internet connection in my silly country. I wasn't one of them, but this didn't stop me from having a lot of single player fun (although now I think that having a warrior trying to kill his enemies with fireballs was a bad idea...:). I bought Diablo 2 almost immediately after it came out. I think it was my first non-pirated game. I still wasn't connected to the web so I ended up finishing all 3 difficulty levels with a bowazon (and a lot of crappy skill choices). Then I debuted on battle.net with my Paladin after finally getting that internet connection. It still was too slow (along with my old PC) for good teamplay so I mostly played alone or from an internet cafe which had better gear. I stopped playing somewhere around 70-ish level of my Pally (in the meantime I created many other characters), because my overclocked PC somehow started to constantly crash the game. I came back around the time the expansion came out and I finally had decent PC/connection. I made a couple new characters and while researching skill builds I found diabloii.net with tons of cool information. I also found a few friends I could play with so I got a taste of teamplay as well.
My favourite character ever was my werewolf druid and my MF-Sorc for endless Mephruns.

Then I got sucked into WoW for a while, but after taking few of my characters to 30-40 it started to take a bit too much time to stay competitive, level up, go on raids, farm gold etc. etc. It stopped being fun and became almost like a "second job" while sucking my cash away (and wanting even more for the expansions). Some people just take the game too serious and it's not fun anymore when everyone around you has this ubergear just because they're still in school and have time to play for 12h/day. So I quit.

Nowadays I'm mostly catching up with some older games (recently Shogun:Total War and... Dungeon Master) and reading comic books, which are my biggest hobby.

The D3 news shocked me. I watched the gameplay video many times and I'm still amazed. I'm really waiting for it to come out and play with my friends.

my cousin got me an old copy of D and by the time I had heard "AAAH FRESH MEAT" I knew I was insanely crazy about this game. I managed to lay my hands on some godly things of the whale, demon spike coat and archangels staff of apocalypse without duping mind you. I returned to the D universe when D2X was released and had a 4 year break from it until recently when the announcement of D3 reached me and I had to relive the magic.

Long live Diablo and his brothers so that we may enjoy many more hours of frenzied gaming

I played D1 and 2, but around the time of the expansion pack and version 1.09 I first tried online gaming and I loved it! I played some regular "soft core" but then tried hard core and I was really hooked. I played until a little after the release of version 1.10, but the game was a lot less fun after 1.10, which helped me finally break the addiction.

I'm ready for D3!! Hopefully it's a little less addictive, but every bit as fun.

i started playing d1 in late 97 or 98. i was totally legit and got tired of hackers killing me, then one day they patched the server to get ready for d2 and all the hackers were nekkid for a few hours. i ran around killing as many as i could before they got new hacks, it was awesome! i then got d2 the day it came-out and played it waay too much for years. now i see d3 is coming, and i can hardly wait! i hope there are still necros or some variation thereof, i tried all the other characters, but stuck with that one pretty much through-out.

I was a participant in the beta testing. I do remember the gem shrines and the blood raven but it was so long ago I dont have much recollection of anything else.

Hello my name is Genocides. I played diablo 2 and lod at release. My characters were primarily 99 druids. Other chars were paladin sorc zon

I was with a group of people called the D_A( we had a website)and MoD. Druidic Alliance, and Methods of Destruction. US East etc. I later moved onto World of Warcraft and left d2 behind. My wow character is Duskmourn a level 70 rogue who opened the Ahn'Qiraj gates and is a Scarab Lord and is on Entropius in Sunwell plateau(30% best attempt). No warglaives because my guild suffers from the cursed RNG 7 months of kills, 0 drop.

I've played every known blizzard title to the maximum and always been a hardcore bliz fan. I once was an active member on these forums

Hi everyone...I´m one of the oldsters around here I guess with my 47 years.

I´m a Diablo fanatic, have been from the beginning with D1 thru D2 and LoD and is an odd player in that I only do single players, no company for me as I regard it as cheating in a way, at least for my standards.
I might add that Diablo is the ONLY game I play so there´s a method to my madness.

So why am I here?..Well, the news of D3 coming of course, being an Diablo fanatic I spend a lot of time thinking about how the game is constructed, the plots and subplots and such.
So I´m here to keep an eye on all rumours I might add, hopefully you´ll bear with me.

Greetings.

I'm a 33yo software engineer who played Diablo since its beginning. It is the first game to help me appreciate the merger of action and role-playing. Before Diablo, I avoided real-time role-playing games and stuck to things such as the gold box SSI/TSR Forgotten Realms, Krynn, and Savage Frontier series. After Diablo, I grew to love the Baulder's Gate series (later Neverwinter nights). Oblivion was the peak of action-style, non-MMO RPGing for me.

Yet, I also went the MMO path as well, with Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot, skipped Everquest, tried WoW for 4 months before getting annoyed with it, then moving into Lord of the Rings Online where I am right now.

Soon D2 LOD faded into the gamer history books and Blizzard focused on Starcraft, Warcraft, and finally WoW. Ever since then I've given up hope of seeing a Diablo sequel. I was thrilled to hear about the upcoming D3 when a coworker showed me the game play demo video.

I still have my original Diablo, Diablo 2, and Diablo 2 Expansion Set; Lords of Destruction box sitting on the wall-mounted bookshelf above my PC and monitors. I have made a special spot just for D3 when it's released. I will also keep a little room there for any D3 expansions after that. I hope the additional content keeps coming after D3's initial release.

For now, I still mule with D2 LOD on my desktop and Asus Eee PC laptop, with ATMA V item manager, NO-CD loaders, and 1.11.

Hi,

My name is Ivan and I've been playing Diablo series from the beginning. D1, D2 and D2X consumed a good part of my life while I was in high school. I've played it over the LAN, Single Player and played D1 on Battle.net (Dial-up :) - Here in Croatia, we had same problems with the inet like they had in Poland). I'm still playing D2X Single Player, casually.

My favorite and most serious builds were, and are still, with Sorc and Barb. Playing mostly with 3 Elemental Sorc and with Ranged Axe/Knife Throwing Barb (PvM exclusively). With my builds, I always try to pursue: "The char must be able to kill any monster (single, group or boss), with any resistances, by him/her self!" philosophy. I guess that it comes from the fact that I play the game by my self most of the time.

Except of H&S RPG and RPG (Fallout series) games, my favorites are Adventures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCUMM, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myst, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrenheit_(video_game), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alone_in_the_Dark_(video_game)). I really appreciate when the game has unique feeling to it (when you have the feeling that the world is alive in the game), extraordinary artistic touch and intelligent/intuitive gameplay (Blizzard, LucasArts, id Software, Black Isle Studios, Troika and all the others that I can't remember now, who made all those cool games that I've played).

The diabloii.net was always the resource of choice for all the info regarding the Diablo games, and 'cos I'm gonna play Diablo game (D3) for the first time seriously on the inet (Battle.net), I'm glad that this site and it's crew is still online and kicking $#&!

Oh, that sound of killing The Hidden and The Goat Man in D1! :worship:

Cya around!

I first bought D2 shortly after its release and played through v1.01. I remember that the fight to kill big D took about 45 minutes just to kill him with my barbarian. After that, I put it down for a while. I came back to it probably a year or so later and then found these forums. As I learned more about the game, I played more and more obsessively. The SPF was my home. I never really got into b-net. I played there a couple of times and found it to be a drag.

After about 5 years of game play and a lame attempt at the SF grail, I finally put it down for Titan Quest, which I am still playing as actively as my job will allow (which really isn’t that much lately). When I stopped playing D2, I stopped visiting these forums.

Anyway, I saw D3 announcement and figured I’d come back here as I figured it would be the best place for info on the game. I’m looking forward to the game but none of us will be playing for quite a while (my guess is Q4’09). If it is similar to D2, I’ll probably play SP only with the occasional TCP/IP game. To me, that is the only way to go. And hopefully Blizzard won’t ignore SP players like they did with their later patches for D2.

Anyway, I don’t recognize many names here anymore but to all the ‘new’ people and my old friends a warm hello.

I'm 18, started playing the first diablo when I was 11 then second one when I was 12.

Diablo used to scare the crap out of me when I was 11 because I never played horror games before, I used to play Diablo with the speakers turned off 24/7. The first time I died I was a bit "in shock" and stopped playing for 2 days because of it, that is one of my shameful past. After that event, I was so scared that I might die again, that I trained myself to level 17 (necro) and was still on Act1 Q4, worst of all I was playing single player, so it took me FOREVER to get to that level (had dial-up that time so I couldn't play online). My friend then later, broke my diablo disc when he borrowed it, he put it in his back pockets of his pants and accidentally sat down on the bed and snapped it. He told me "don't worry, I'll repay you soon", then 3 years later...he bought me a new D2+expansion (as a sorry+bday gift). I was 14 that time, when I played D2 again I wasn't afraid of anything, in fact I even rush through the game a lot.

Now the Diablo series is a cake walk to me, and it became my all time favorite game (tied to super smash brothers).

Also, diablo was the first game I've played online, so I didn't know what the word "noob" or "lol" meant that time...lol.

Hey,
I am a 25 yo student (BA in literature) from Israel. I always were a big video games fanatic and as blizzard release some of the best polished games in the industry I always had a soft spot for them. Although my favorite games are Fallout and Baldur's Gate 2 I must admit I CBA to take them up again, D2 is a whole different story.
I first got hooked on blizzard with warcraft 1 (well actually I played lost viking before that but didn't know it was blizzard until much later) at that time I didn't have a pc with cd-rom so I went to my friend's house to watch him play it for a few hours every day. When WC2 came out I thanked god I could play it myself and that I won't have to build any roads if I want buildings
When I first saw in a magazine that blizzard will make an rpg, my favorite kind of game, I went frenzy (not the barbarian skill). I asked my dad, which was in the USA at the time, to buy it and come home asap! (it wasn't even released yet) But I missread the name of the new game because the way it was spelled in Hebrew made me think you can call it Davelu (a minor dyslexia didn't help either) so the people at the shops didn't know what the hell is he asking about
Laters I learned the real name for Big D, bought it and had loads of fun with it. When D2 was announced I went frenzy again. Only this time I could let out some steam (not valve's thingie) by reading stuff on diabloii.net
I enhanced my frenzy skill in the stress test with a dual 2h swords 3 gemmed barbarian. It's a funny thing I didn't even remember it until I came upon this thread. Now I understand why I am obsessed about keeping my best unperfect gem in my inventory and why I am rushing to click every gem shrine I see.
When D2 released I played it so much I didn't notice that summer was gone (and with it my free time from school and the best time of my life). My record for D2 is playing 15 hours straight, no sleep, no food, same album in the stereo on repeat (Brave New World-Iron Maiden) with the same friend watching me play THE WHOLE ****ING TIME!!!!
Anyway to cut story short: I ditched wow 1.5 years ago and I was searching for my next obsession ever since; enter Diablo III. Since the announcmet I took D2LoD up again to (hopefully) fill the time until D3.

For those who read: I hope that you enjoyed my little bio.
For those who skipped: I understand why :p
See you around.

Moved onto the delights of LoD back in 2003. Made some really close in-game friends and had an awesome time playing EU HCL and LLDing. Joined the forums as they are unrivalled when it comes to easily accessible information, intelligent (ok most of the time) discussion and fair trading!
Of course when the behemoth that is WoW came onto the scene my Diablo playing stopped completely, as did the majority of my university work, and so after playing WoW since Final Beta, I applied to be a GM for Blizzard Europe. In Winter 2005, I was asked to attend an interveiw which I passed and I started as a WoW GM in the summer of 2006 (after finishing UNI), in the beautiful industrial dump that is Velizy. 9 Months later I was promoted to the Account Administration department and there I remained untill may 31st 2008 when I left blizzard, paris and lots of friends to travel to canda with my canadian girlfriend, in an attempt to save money for our intended move to New Zealand.

Currently do not have internet at home, thus I am using the local library to get online and LoD is the only game I can run on the old PC we currently have at the house (got rid of all my luxuries inc pc when moving from paris to canada) so im slugging it through single player atm with a zealot and a bugged act 2 nm defensive merc who insists on using defiance no matter what the **** i do with him... (im suspecting its somehow linked to my merc magically dissapearing in norm around act4-5 (not dieing as no option existed to resurrect him - any help appreciated on this prob) patch 1.07 is proving rather interesting to say the least.....

so i came back to this site and forums to check out some old information i had forgotten and here we are. just like it used to be, apart from the adverts :*(

p.s imagine seeing d3 in-game footage over a year ago, that was a very happy day in france ;)

I started as a Warcraft and a Starcraft fan, snubbing Diablo 1 because the pictures on the back made me think is was an RTS with big lumpy units. Somehow I discovered this was not the case and became addicted, making myself three characters. Cataclysmiac the Warrior (whos name has been featured on my main melee characters ever since), a Rogue, and Sorcerer. I was young, so I'd beg my parents to let me use the phone line for just an hour or to to play on Battle.net.

Years passed, I heard about D2 and flipped my wig. I was in High School by the time and had less time to play. With all the new options and skill trees, I actually made a character for every kind of play I could imagine. Frenzy Barb, Berserk Barb, WW Barb, Fire, Lightning, Cold, Tri-Element, and Inferno Sorceresses, Poison Necro, Summoning Necro, Bone Necro, Teeth Necro, Bowazon, Javazon, Passivazon, Zealot, Avenger, and Martyrs (I'd experimented with and quickly dismissed the Blessed Hammer skill, oh fool me!). This was all on single player, since I could only weasel a few hours at a time on the dial up for Closed B.Net.

D2x expanded my hopes and dreams and along with patch 1.10 turned me into a rabid Diablo machine. Eventually the love tapered off and I got involved with Warcraft III.

I reinvolved my friends from high school into Diablo 2 for a six month stint during college. The nostalga was fun, even if the graphics were getting dated. Since then I'd pop it in and play once in a while, just to visit the past.

Hearing about Diablo 3 has absolutely thrilled me. I anxiously await both D3 and SC2, spending the idle moments inbetween dreams working and building my family with my wife (who has no interest in video games whatsoever, but loves me enough to support my hobby anyways).

I probably should've introduced myself earlier, but I went straight over to the Plot and Story forum.

I played D2 through Normal near release, then got the same three characters (Sorc, necro and zon) through Act V when LoD came out. Some friends got interested in that point, and eventually we each mat/pat'ed one 'toon in 1.09 (my sorc). 1.10 came and changed everything, ultimately for the (even) better, and I let go of D2 with 12 mats/pats, having joined in the SPF. I dabbled in Eastern Sun, but put that down late-2006 after a mat/pat in each class.

With the D3 announcement, the itch was back, and I, like so many others, started up again. My playing is still all SP, and you'll see me posting in the SPF. Most of my D3 interest is the Story and Plot: listening to the ideas, good and bad. I'm not expecting it any time soon, but I'll have a PhD to finish, so better that it isn't released near handin...

I was born in Poland... long time ago. A month before "Star Wars" hit the screens if you have to know :)
Never was a hardcore gamer although sometimes I get those "hardcore phases" when I play a week or month 10-16 hours a day.

Now! Don't burn me alive!! I'm a true believer now!

But the first time I've seen "Diablo 1" I thought "Damn! What kind of game is this? I can't see a thing!". Now that I think about it I probably saw this guy going through Catacombs ;)
I re-discovered it year or two later (in dormitory on my roommate's computer) and it triggered yet another of my "hardcor phases". But I can't say I got hooked. Not at this point. Some time later, when I saw some guy showing off new Diablo II box I just thought "That's nice but I don't have a machine to run this anyway". And another couple of years passed. I finnaly got the computer capable of running D2 (believe it or not but my friend found it in the dumpster behind Max Planck Institute of Munich :) ). And when I started Diablo II the first time - then I got hooked!

I don't consider myself an experienced Diablo player. I've finished D1 and D2X in SP with one character (although I tried every class in both games) but never had it in me to go through it again (although, again, I'm giving the Barbarian a second chance now). I never played on the Battle.net (only a couple MP lan parties with friends). I guess I'm not exactly a team player.

I'm more of an explorer than fighter. I love to discover new monsters, new areas, new magic items, new books of lore (sadly neglected in D2), new features in game... Example: I loved idea of Horadric Cube but it should be possible to find recipes in game realm as well and not only on the webpage.
Same with Runewords. If someone wanted to skip a lenghty search then voilà, there is a compilation on diabloii.net ;)

And about week ago by sheer accident I came across the info that Diablo III was announced. And here I am - typing all night (and early morning in fact) and hunting for every tiny bit of information about my beloved game ;)

See you all on forums, hopefully in beta-tests : praying really hard: and possibly on Battle.net 2.0 (if they implement in-game voice chat - can't play and type at the same time).

35 years old. I strated playing on 1.01 I think. Played almoast daily for years. The highlight of D2 for me was getting picled for the LOD Expansion. I put it down after I moved from one state to another. Pick it up now and then. Always have to start over as my accounts expire but I still have a blast playing.

Anyways, I used to have a different account on here years ago but that got deleted to so with the DIII Anoucement, I got thirsty and signed up again.

So, hi to all, see you around.

Greetings All!

I'm 22, commonly known as Reelix in the Online / Gaming World, and a True Diablo Fan :)

I've played Diablo from the very beginning (I've owned Diablo 1 / Hellfire / Diablo 2 / LOD) - "Owned" being the primary word... Irritating how CD's vanish over time :(

I've finished Hell Difficulty on LOD with Every Character (Pre patch 1.10, Post I can only get up to Act 5 on Hell with a Valkyrie Based Amazon...).

I haven't played much Battle.NET due to my lack of internet access (Have to net VIA Cellphone... Not pretty (Slightly above Dial-Up Speeds...)) and have never Uber'd :/

Any questions, don't hesitate to PM me :)

Cheers for now!

I started playing D2X after a Starcraft friend of mine bought it and he quite playing SC alltogether. Probly 6 years ago. I quite playing when .10 first came out. I came back for a ladder season about a year ago and have sense quite again lol. I decided to check diabloii.net to see if D3 had ever been anounced and was shocked that it had. Im super excited about d3 even though they did away with the best class ever (Necromancer). The WD seems a fine replacment.

Lets see here...how did diablo enter my life. I know.. i skipped school to smoke pot ...and started playing diablo 2. It ultimately started off with buying starcraft, and then after playing starcraft i was looking into what other games blizzard had to offer. I have to say , blizzard makes some of the most well balanced games you can ever play!! It might take a decade or 2 to come out with it..but how many games do you really know of, that come out and people play it ten years done the road??? Anyway Started off in 1998 when the crack came out. And im excited to see both starcraft 2 and diablo 3 are finally about us :) Hope to see you guys on the realm.. i had about 4 level 99 hardcore diablo characters 5 years ago... and right now im playing diablo 2 single player with a level 68 barb that is kicking *** and taking names!

Hi all, new-ish face here. I've been a fan of the Diablo franchise since the first one came out. I've also been a regular lurker at diabloii.net since its start, and have watched form the shadows as Flux and Elly did their good work and provided us all with the glorious information that we so covet. Since this is the first time I've actually signed up for the forums, let me say to you: Thank you. I appreciate all your hard work over the years.

Greetings to you all. My Diablo name is Kennoth. I've been a strong follower and experienced player of the Diablo franchise ever since my first game of D1 on PS1 :) . Oh the good old days. Of course, I played D2 and LoD aswell for many years but I finally retired cause when you play it every day all day like myself, four acts just isn't good enaugh. So I took a long break which is stillin function and decided to play wc3, secretly hoping that long awaited Diablo 3 will be announced. And when it was I was rejoiced like a won a ****ing lottery!

So, I registered so we can all talk about the future only-game-i'll-play. About myself, I'm a huge fan of KoRn, the only band I trully love.
BTW: I think that entire subforum for introductions instead of a thread would be better, because frankly, no one reads this crap :)

Thats all from me, hope to enjoy our socialising in this forum!

EDIT: What's the policy of double posting in this forum? And why are there no signatures?

Hello, my name is Derick and I enjoy long walks on the.. er, wrong forum. I, like the player above me, have been playing/following the Diablo games since the first one I experienced on the Playstation. Duping then was so easy. :)

I then proceeded to play Diablo 2 the first day it came out. I became a strong Amazon lover and played the class to death. I believe I was one of the first Amazons to go full Dex and use Strength charms to use equipment. I remember finding my very own legit perfect Windforce. :)

I then got into the -using the hacked items- phase where I had the biggest and most hacked and awesome Amazon named OopsYourPwned. Haha.

So anyways, those were the days.. coming home from High School and immediately phoning a friend.. meeting up in a PvP game and just destroying the competition.. Now, I'm far more mature and the anticipation I have for Diablo 3 is beyond normal.. I just hope Blizzard doesn't destroy it with it's WoWfare.

Hello, on most online communities I am known as Unl)eal). Have been a big fan of the Diablo franchise since the first installment.

I've been playing Diablo2 for a long time now and still play today. Off and on, I'll go through long break periods before I restart again, evidently due to an account hack or some other form of devilry. Recently however I have taken great joy in creating abstract builds in the game using items that go normally un-noticed and using skills that are similarly ignored.

Thought I'd get involved in the community to see what people thoughts on Diablo3 were and keep more informed on the game as information comes out.

See you on the forum. =)

Sup everyone.

I feel like I should point out that I totally followed MedievalDragon over to this site....as I'm sure many others did as well...so....money well spent guys.

I guess all I want to say is that I'm really flippin' excited about this game and just cannot wait to play it, as I'm sure is the case for everyone around here.

My particular interests are trying to predict in game features and remaining classes, citing D and D as an influence for so many of the things Diablo is doing this time around, and already starting to try and figure out what builds will be really cool judging by what skills we have ideas about.

Im a bit of an old head at 32. I wasn't much into gaming as a kid but as games got better i became more and more interested. For me Diablo was an accident or fate.
I started playing on a friend's pc at a party one night many years ago circa 98. I clicked on the diablo icon on the desk top. Started playing the pally. it was dark and late at night. the music and the erieness of act I caught me off gaurd. I was playing for a while when my friend came in to kick me out. He took the disk out and gave it to me and said here its your problem now. I love this stuff. most of the games that were around as a kid were never this realistic. I'm a blizzard fan for life.

Can't wait to return the favor to my buddy. I positive he has no idea Diii is this good.

I've been around since Diablo 2 first came out where I started playing as a softcore character.

Within 2 years of that I grew tired of softcore/single player and moved onto trying Hardcore.

I've stuck with Hardcore ever since and made some headway on the HC USEast ladder in my prime.

I think maybe I should introduce myself now?

I came here from diablofans.com (formerly known as diablo3.com) after dfans became a bit of a mess. I am Equinox on there, banned (I like to argue) until Oct. 25th. I am a big forumer so I tend to stalk 2-3 forums on the same subject... I actually tried bnet forums as well but... meh.

I am 18, female, living in Atlanta at the moment, from Ukraine originally, and I hope to never live on the Cluster. Follower of Diablo I / Hellfire since 1996, started it way too early and got freaked out by the Leoric (met him before Butcher). Not really a follower of Diablo II but I still like the game. Got into Diablo II really late, way after LoD was made, and I prefer SP, preferably with mods that allow stashing everything. Mostly SC player, I played a bit of HC as well but usually I am too inattentive to play HC characters. I sort of prefer Necros due to their lore, and bone spears are cool.

I am a serious follower of Tales from a Parallel Universe, or LEXX Season One, whatever you may choose to call it, if you even know what it is. Also a follower of Nox, particularly the PvP, and if any of you ever want to try Nox and dling 200 Mb is not an issue for you, send me a PM. Any lan-based PvP will require a hassle with Hamachi, though. My most favored games are the Heretic/heXen fantasy FPS series, all 4 of them. And StarCraft: Broodwar.

My favorite books are the Dune series and Harry Potter. But considering how little I read, not too representative. I really need to check out Ender's Game.

I am highly interested in DIII because I really like where it's going right now. DIII for me is a test for Blizzard. They didn't make anything I cared for in a while (WCIII and WoW are not my cup of tea), and if they screw up SCII and DIII, my faith in them, and in the gaming market, is going to be gone. I hope Blizzard can still keep up the standard of games that are not just for money alone.

P.S.: "follower" is the term I use instead of "fan". Fan means a fanatic, and I don't want to be associated with that, met a few.

Hi! I'm John, I'm 21, and I played the hell out of diablo 1 and II when I was younger. I can't wait for the third, and I'm sure everyone else here is just as excited as I am. I owe a lot to diablo II, it taught me how to type FAST and trading piqued my interest in economics, which is now my profession. That, and I had more fun with d2 than with any game I've ever played. Hit me up on AIM to talk about anything diablo III related, or just anything at all!

Well I got Diablo 2 when it first came out becasue my mates older brother said he loved the original so much. Up until this point I had only really played a few snes and playstation games, Diablo 2 was one of my first Pc games. :cloud9:

I played it off for a long time, last year when I bummed around with my first mmo rappelz for about 9 months, went crazy and became the 10th highest level and 2nd greatest dd on my server. I deleted everything and have hardly touched games since.. and won't till Diablo strikes again.

Howdy doody, I'm 19 and I've been playing Blizzard Games since the Brood war expansion. I got into Diablo 2 about 6 months after it's release, then right on into Diablo 2 expansion, then after about 1 year of that I stopped. So for me it's been about a 4-5 year lay off with the occasional itch to play it again (most notably this summer, made my first true fishymancer). I've always been more fond of the Starcraft universe and game over Diablo and Warcraft (I'm GaussWaffle over at the SC2 forums).

I'm currently majoring in General Engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and am also an avid FPS gamer (Natural Selection is my second favorite game ever) on top of my Blizzard love

Hope to get to know yal. Except Fallen, I already know his *** from the SC2 forums

I'm 18 years old and have been playing the Diablo games since 99. I was first introducted to them from a family friend, it only took me a few days to clock Diablo the first time but i replayed it many times. I played D2 and D2x not long after they came out. I've played and replayed D2x so many times it's not funny.

I've also read nearly every book there is on Diablo 3 and love them. I can't wait for Diablo 3 to come out. Although games have never been my life (music is a large part of that), I can't wait to get stuck into D3

Im glad to see that I am only one amoungst thousands that is excited for this game to come out. Cant wait to see you all pwning away on D3 ladders world wide.

I like many of you have found myself a fan of this game ever since D1 release. When I began playing D2 I found it also to be highly addictive in its simplicity but I also appreciated the game for the demonic storyline that had a nice twisted flavor to it.

I over the years since its release Ive played on and off but it always seems to pull me back in when the game industry reaches a lull. For me its that one game that I think we all have that sticks with you over the years.

Now, with the announcement of diablo 3 and hype quickly gaining momentum, I am extremely excited to see what bliz has in store for us all. Im sure you all have drooled over the visual makeovers demonstrated in the spectacular blizzcon demos and official cinematic trailers. Well I am without a doubt no exception.

Great to meet you all and I am excited to geek out with you on the dev of another in a long line of epic blizzard titles.

i am one of hard addicted diablo 2 gamers, but thing is i joined too late in august 2008, d2c. played it till end of september, moved to diablo lod due to lack of ppl playing classic and most of my m8 gone lod. when i came to lod i found out that my "super gear" in classic is not really "supper" in lod, had to look for gear all over.

got banned due to using loader for mulling, (cause my friendds not always online when i need them to be)

started again, now i am recovering well, but slow to my lickying, most likely i am gonna go to trading games and try to rob off new ppl such as my self :P

Hello All,

I'm a long time browser of these forums and figured it was about time I started actively participating.

I've been a long time Blizz fan, Starcraft is basically what started my interests in PC gaming. After that i played D1 until D2C and eventually D2X took over. Unfortunately for me all my experience was single player due to living in an area with poor internet connections. During college I spent a few years in the WoW verse, but eventually tired of it and am now patiently waiting for SC2 and D3...however long that may be.

Anyways just wanted to start posting and figured this would be the appropriate spot for my first post. Looking forward to discussing and eventually playing some D3 with you all!

I've been gaming since Atari 2600 was new and hot, my first comp was a Commadore 64. I've always been into FPS games and RPGs. Then one day a co-worker of mine introduced me to D2. I've been an addict off and on ever since! I'll occasionally burn out and go play other games for awhile (Fallout 3, Crysis, Oblivion, Call of Duty 4, Left 4 Dead, being recent examples), but I always come back.
I started out playing on BNET, since that's where my coworker friends were. Eventually I discovered the SPF here, and I really liked the more realistic, mature culture... People who can appreciate a nice rare weapon, or see the potential in a godly blue item as opposed to BNET "ZOMG if ur not have nigma on ur gearz ur not can live in HELL." I rarely venture onto BNET anymore, I spend most of my time playing SP.
Ever since D3 was announced I have been foaming at the mouth in anticipation!

Good to see some of the <cough> older community still active around the place. I guess this is where I come in....

Started gaming with a Tunix console (cartridge based) which was a cheap Atari 2600 pretender. Next was a Commodore VIC-20 followed by a C=64, an Amiga 500, Amiga 2000 w/68040 then finally moved on to the "dark side" of the PC world. Us Amigans were rabidly anti-PC :-)

This was around the time when Doom had been around for a bit and I was discovering the joys of Quake and the like. A friend and I then stumbled across this demo of Diablo and filled our pants when the Butcher made an appearance. We were hooked! When we got hold of the full retail game we were known to move into my basement for days at a time playing on LAN. I can't remember exact details but getting two PCs running windows 98 to talk to each other over LAN was an exercise in frustration and liberal quantities of swearing :) My first on line excursion introduced me to the joys of PK-ing and when the hacks became rampant I abandoned that activity.

The Hellfire expansion was bought without question but proved to be irritating and ultimately disappointing. We then got involved in the beta testing of D2 which was an exciting time. D2X followed. Years went by. SP, LAN, BNet, HC Ladder/Non-Ladder, the usual addicts litany. I broke the habit eventually but now find myself playing LAN with my 8 year old quite regularly with the Requiem of Sorrow mod and still having fun.

I confess to having been sidetracked by HG:L as an exercise in seeing what the old Diablo team were up to. Pity about the end result of that one. Too ambitious perhaps. I find it remarkable that a game of this vintage can still interest me and the announcement of D3 has renewed my interest. Dii.net was always the best trough to get my water so it's nice to be back :)

Apologies for the lengthy ramble!

Hi! I shouldn't be a strange face by now, since I have been posting news and diablo 3 wiki (http://www.diablowiki.net/) updates for many moons now, but I haven't introduced myself, so here goes! =)

I have been a fan of Diablo since D1, and played that extensively, basically wrecking my College grades. I was a member of Dii.net, likely under the name of "targetgamer", "Leoric" or something like it. I've played D2 on and off up to a few years ago, when I started to play WoW with a vigour. In the meantime, I have also been a huge StarCraft, and a medium WarCraft fan.

Interested in WoW, I started doing news and moderation over at WoW.net (http://www.worldofwar.net/), started helping Flux with Hellgate (http://hellgate.incgamers.com/), and moving over to StarCraftWire (http://www.starcraftwire.net/) (best SC news/article site on the net!) when Hellgate flopped. I did get an interest with wikis from Hellgate, at the very least (did you hear it's resurrected btw?).

For several Blizzard events, I have had the great luck of attending, seeing early versions of StarCraft 2, as well as the Diablo 3 demo.

As not that much have been happening with StarCraft for a long time, I have for the last several months directed my energy on the Diablo 3 Wiki (http://www.diablowiki.net/), as well as some over at the Diablo 2 Wiki (http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/), and depending where the need is the greatest at any given moment, I'll be on either the Diablo site or the Starcraft one.

If you have any pointers, suggestions or questions for the wikis, feel free to PM me, or contact me through one of the many ways I have listed on my wiki user page (http://www.diablowiki.net/User:Leord)!

Hello everybody, this is my first post here.

I'm 31 years old (too old to play children-games, I know; hee hee, LOL), and I'm from Madrid, Spain. Please, sorry for my bad English.

I'm playing since the Diablo saga started, but only in battlenet since Diablo2-LOD 1.10 came. I played single until then because before I was so poor to got internet myself, huh.

Uhmm... I'm a pure hardcore and ultra-legit player since years ago, and usually play alone most time, chatting with my friends by /f m ofc, and sometimes sharing some runs when everybody promised me to turn off their maphacks.

I'm a Druid and Necromancer player, specially Druid. I love him (not pretended zoophylia here lol).

The only druid I don't like is the overpowered wind one, but I made a lot of diferent druid-types and like them all: Fire elemental druid (very fun to play in hc), werewolves, werebears (many of them, with armageddon or just fire claws), and of course one of my favorites characters: the Hunter Druid, one of the most underpowered and funny character to complete the game playing alone in hc mode.

I liked too play untwinked sometimes (with no mule and only using the items I find myself), and finished the game with some kind of easy chars in hardcore, like everykind of necros, trapper and druids too.

In my times of extensive play, I also was a main Contribute-mod in the best leggit Spanish web so far, "diablo2latino" (I got over 7,000 posts, almost 7 years). I wrote down some strategy guides there, like this one for Fire Werebear
http://www.diablo2latino.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-13331.html

My internet names always were Valmar or NecroMoncer, but in this forum I couldn't register like Valmar, then I choosed "Valmy"
Everybody call me just Val usually.

Thats all, I hope to learn a lot from this site about Diablo III and also try my best to share with you my opinions and experiences in the upcoming D3.

Salute.

Well, I played Diablo for the playstation with my neighbor and loved it! Although he would always steal my gear while I was sleeping and then export it to another one of his characters. Anyways, DII LOD was fun. I played the beta of 1.10 and came up with an awesome build ... which later became a staple cookie cutter. My hammerdin was the first pally in the 90+ lvl range on the latter after that patch. :smug: Anyways, I love these kinds of game and will be playing hc if my pc/internet allows for it.

Finally, the people you play the game with result in more fun than the game itself, so if you want someone to play through the game with at a specific time each night, let me know. :jig: This one looks like it'll turn out great!

Name's Cameron. Played d2 on and off for like 5 miserable years. Just bought Diablo I on ebay, I want to play it before D3 comes out cause I never played the original and I feel left out when people talk about it :'-(

BTW, is Hellfire worth getting? Or should I just stick to the Blizzard titles?

Hi, my name is Josh and I'm a Diabloaholic.

I've been playing video games since the Atari 2600 and RPGs since Legend of Zelda on the NES. When Diablo 1 came out in '97 I was still in early highschool with no job but a new PC. I pretty much didn't eat anything while I was at school for a few weeks so I could save up my lunch money to buy Diablo (In the mean time I played the demo like crazy).

By the time Diablo II came out I had my own car and was supposed to be driving myself to school... I pretty much stayed up all night playing it and slept in every morning :P

I've been playing WoW pretty much ever since it came out and I am very eager to throw it out and play Diablo III! Sadly my hopes of Sacred 2 tiding me over until Diablo III is released didn't turn out quite as expected.

Hello folks :) Played Diablo and then D2 for years. Got into Diablo because it was supposed to resemble Nethack. D2 was the first game I started tracking on the Internet pre-release, following it on this same site. Was in the open beta, killing Blood Raven over and over with my lowbie barb.

.. so good to see Flux et al. still around :) This site was my introduction to gamer culture, cause though I'd been playing computer games since 1980 or so, I didn't have gamer friends. I learned about flaming and trolls 1337 and all that wonderful stuff on these forums, back in the day.

Haven't played D2 for years, but I try every "diablo clone" that comes out... remember Darkstone, Nox, Dungeon Siege, Sacred, Divine Divinity, Titan Quest, Hellgate? All of those games had their points but none of em was Diablo.

Just hoping that D3 keeps the magic and doesn't go down in flames like Hellgate did :/

I wouldn't bother with Hellfire unless you find yourself playing Diablo a lot. It's not really up to the standard. Fun to mix things up if you play enough to get bored though.

Played Diablo 1 when I was kinda young. I was hooked by the awesome story and extremely dark work. I love the elements of dealing with Hell. I always wondered if any of the bible is true. I am an Agnostic myself. Not sure what's real or right. But I mostly believe the bible has been twisted to be used in a Monetary system like we have today. Only for the greed of man or other purposes. But I love fantasy and anything that deal with the Idea of the Devil is fascinating to me. The Lord Of Terror and his brothers is a brilliant game idea and would make an excellent movie. I just hope some day someone can live up to the expectations of Blizzard to do Diablo and do it justice. I would enjoy seeing it as a Cinematic Film. But really how ever Blizzard would want it done I am sure it would turn out in it's best form. Well I wrote enough lol. Just love this game and also The RTS warcraft series. Sorry I hate wow though. I would enjoy a Word Of Diablo though. It's the perfect game for it I think.

I'm a software engineer, and am most comfortable working with C++ and Java. I don't currently work for a game development company or do any formal work along those lines. (Just thought I'd mention that since people on here would probably be curious).

I was first introduced to Diablo when my brother received the title. I didn't play it at first, but my brother let me be his wing man through the game, so I would watch him play and monitor his health and press a potion hotkey when he needed a boost. At that time we just played single player. We only had one PC so we couldn't play LAN games or anything and we didn't have internet access. With the sequel, using the potion at the 'last minute' wasn't as important because they only gradually recovered your health instead of it being instantaneous, so I wasn't as involved watching him grind through that one. However, I did eventually start playing the title online. It was great when you know people you're playing with. Go through a dungeon or two after school and work, hopefully find a good item (that really becomes the focus in the later game, along with the monotonous level grind and cow or Baal runs) and generally enjoy yourself. I have some fond memories playing Diablo 2, even pulled an all-nighter once, though I wouldn't consider myself a 'hardcore' gamer... it's usually very difficult for me to stay up late (I'm especially prone to headaches when I'm tired for some reason - anyone have advice?) :) I'm looking forward to seeing if Diablo 3 can recapture some of those fond memories, and whether it will feel like a game you could play forever (as D2 sometimes felt).

I'm a 22 year old Software Engineer from Milwaukee, WI, and have been playing Blizzard Games for as long as I can remember. Started with the original Diablo, when I was like, 10, I think? I remember that I really sucked at the game, originally, as well, LOL. Normal Butcher killed me every time.

After a while, I had moved on to console games with my Brothers, before a friend showed me that Diablo 2 had recently come out. I couldn't WAIT to get it. I played it for at least 6 years, straight. All of the way through middle and high school. Never got to the top of the ladders, but, still, enjoyed my time immensely. My favorite Characters were, as I'm sure you guessed it, Sorc, Barb, and Necro.

Since then, I've played SWG and then WoW. Sometimes going back to D2 for a few months, here than there. Recently just started another stint of D2, hoping it lasts until D3 Comes out!

I'm a 24 year old guy from Belgium living in the Netherlands. My role playing experience started with Atlantis back in the days, after which I played a lot of Divine Divinity (Belgian RPG) with a friend who also introduced me to the MMORPG Legend of Mir to which I got seriously addicted for a while.

After getting over that my role playing interest waned until I played Divine Divinity again as well as The Witcher in the fall of last year. I liked the new fancy looks of The Witcher, but I came to the conclusion that I really prefer the character customization and especially the isometric view of Divine Divinity and Legend of Mir.

So I started looking around for other isometric games only to be left disappointed with the observation that pretty much every RPG these days is 1st or 3rd person. Digging further in the archives of gamespot, I came across Diablo 2 which was rated really high, had isometric view, and which I had never played before (yeah, I know, incomprehensible ). So doing some further googling turned up that they were developing Diablo 3. Surprise, surprise!

So I watched the gameplay movie from June last year, and oh my god!!!! This is it! This is exactly what I had been wanting to play! A game that looks brilliant, has lots of action, yet keeps the pleasant isometric view that I had gotten so fond of with Divine Divinity and Legend of Mir. Unfortunately as you all know, Diablo 3 isn't going to be out any time soon, so... I decided to play Diablo 2 for a bit first :).

A couple of hours in playing a barbarian left me kinda disappointed, since the graphics really suck compared to Divine Divinity or even Legend of Mir, and there were some other issues I didn't like. But a couple of weeks later I started again with a paladin, and am now happily running around in Act III ;). I'm seriously looking forward to playing Diablo 3, and if it's just as good or even better than the many good stories I read about Diablo 2, it's going to be one awesome game, I'm sure :).

I think the first Blizzard game I have ever played was either D1 or Warcraft 2, then of course Starcraft, then D2, and capped it off with WC III, and then back to D2 hah. Ive even played one of their three gameboy advance games. What got me into Diablo was one of my friends, he handed me the disk for D1 and just told me to play it, havent stopped since. I mean, Ive stopped obviously, It hasnt taken over my life or anythin I usually dont start playing until about 8:00 every night, end by 11, Im really starting to ramble.

I joined this forum to get my hands on some mental food, mechancis sudgestions, plot sudgestions, concept charecters all that nice stuff, and I cant say I regret it. I can't wait to see the new classes in D3 and I do beleive the game in itself is really going to be a slice of fried gold, I want to read the Diablo books before I play D3 though, so obviously I need to hurry because once the game is on the shelves I wont be able to contain myself that long.

My favorite class to play in D2 was with absolutly no doubt the necromancer.

I have been writting for three years or so and I have become rather profficiant (still unpublished, not really trying yet considering Im only 16) the only step I have made towards publication was my submision (Diablo based) to the blizzard global writing contest, wish me luck

Im a freshman NIU dekalb IL. ive played diablo 2 lod on and off for several years, with other blizzard games starcraft is my second favorite. im a huge fan i cant wait for the newest installment to this series will look like on my new laptop.
the reason im on the forums is because ive noticed that someone is actually asking what they want to be in the games, and i think that is a major improvement from throwing stuff together and seeing what hits or misses then making a new patch months later to fix what should have been broken.

well, i was about 6-7 y/o when diablo II was released. My older brother bought it a few months after the realease. After watching him play for hours he finally let me try the game. Since i was young and naive i chose a necromancer to be my first char. I remember going down the den of evil and dying. The moment i respawned back in town i saved and exit the game. I thought "Crap, my character is dead now, i´ll make a new one!" The next character was a Paladin (a fine choice). I fell in love with his divine magic and kickass combatskills right away and since then 90% of my characters (even outside Diablo) have been Paladins. A few years later when buying the battle chest i tried Diablo I. I found it much scarier and I could not (just like many others) forget the phrase "Fresh meat" as a fat demon butcher stumbled out a door i opened. I think it might took me 2 years after that incident to actually sit down and finsih that game after that...well...ever since i´ve been playing Diablo II expansion at random occasions. I´ve played WC3 and WoW but none of the games struck me the way Diablo I & II did. I gave up WoW after 1.5 months after reaching lvl 52 with my Dreanei Paladin(yay). It´s been three months since i played WoW and i´m not planning on playing it again. But WoW is a great game masterfully created(as always) by Blizzard and it will never be forgotten. Since The announcement of Diablo III i´ve been trying to keep updated on the progress. I guess that leaves us where i am today, 14.9 years old. Bai!!

Hullo, Finnish engineer student here. Been a great fan of hack and slash games ever since I played Golden Axe and Streets of Rage on Genesis. When Diablo came I was 10 years old. Mostly just watched my brother complete Diablo in SP, but we used dial-up to play in b.net and took turns. Of course with all the duping I quickly had Godly Plate Mail of the Whale and King's Sword of Haste and duping stuff myself as well. Still I had great fun and as english lessons began when I was 9, and given that all Hollywood trash is subbed in Finland, I quickly learned English and to this day remember the encounter with some Indian who said he had to go to work and I was like "what this is a children's game!". Overall it was so great that when D2 came I already had my own computer, was it Abit's BH-6 with a Pentium II 350 MHz. At first I was disappointed with the graphics being too bright and the lack of a proper warrior, but I thought the ugly barbarian would suffice. I skipped SP in favor of MP immediately as I did in D1, while my brother completed the game in SP with a necro.

I played multiplayer with one barbarian up to level 76 in D2 Classic. I did less than 2000 damage I think, or probably less than 1000. I counted it took 19 whirlwinds to kill a cow in nm. Actually the whole whirling idea bothered from start: I just wanted to swing but concentrate wasn't viable then at all, and the lack of the old grid system of D1 was a bother for that as well, as well as overall slow swings. You just had to have a mana leech ring and special attack on left click or you weren't viable. Bah! You have to go cookie cutter or not go at all. In hell I died in Den of Evil immediately, because of my crap stuff. I read about builds and tried some thorns paladin and stuff but overall I didn't like it too much and after LOD came I left it at that thinking the days of Diablo are gone. Then one day I bought second-hand LOD for like 15 euros, installed and did some bloody runs with a fanatic paladin but then it started to suck at lvls 50-60 dealing no damage but was able to lvl anyway in runs but that was boring. So, I heard about getting MF sorc and running Mephisto but I refused that crap. It simply is not good gameplay. I have Counter-Strike, Baldur's Gate, Morrowind, Sturmovik and all kinds of better things to do than farming some Mephisto. Left it at that as every character became "powerless" as they progressed.

The gameplay of D1 was lost. D2 became an endless statsbög competition of pure item-farming with zero need to explore (boost-leech-farm-trade-complete), little need for actual gameplay tactics (face it, you just spam what you have and if it isn't working you have the wrong items and you are probably dead already), and the overall feel was off from the unlit mysterious caves, filled with gore, beneath Tristram battling demons with just plain non-magic chain mail and a sword... No crazy leaping or WWing, no absurd multishotting or bizarre ice orbs, just pure tactics and consideration - if your pal was a mage or rogue, he also had to watch his arrows or fireballs! Methods of crowd control barely existed, you just had to use terrain. If you died you lost your gear if you left.. There was a sense of caution all the time, PKing was also rampant but never bothered me. Although running was not in the game, the pace in combat was fine. The best items were only marginally better than what the average player could get anyway, so the whole wanking for item setups was less of a deal. Overall, the idea that strength increases damage noticeably and a higher level warrior will do as well with lesser equipment than a lower level warrior with top equipment, was great, giving experience and levels a lot of worth and not just the final gear (basically in D2 you are outdamaged by lvl 50 guys if you have crap eq at lvl 90). However, in D1, maxing clvl was not an easy feat and few played to 50 I think. Part of the feel were also the monsters, they weren't chain mail wearing minotaurs dual wielding axes or something, but just goatmen that had a club. Or demons wearing nothing at all, why would they (horned demon, spitter, magma, overlord and the lightning casting one). Also the monsters never simply just ran at you, they wandered around, sideways, stopped for a while. Actually, each monster had different AI. Frustrating at times yes, but at least there was AI instead of just "charge!".

After playing some Guild Wars, completing all campaigns in it, I've been critisizing the game for being too "grindy" and slow. You hardly progress after a certain point, and without human players with you, it is a frustrating game. Then I thought of D2X. Installed (I'm unemployed now..) and quickly played a holy freeze zealot recommended for untwinked paladin. Holy Freeze was incredibly powerful but not enough to keep me alive in hell alone. Then some guy donated his Guardian Angel and stuff to me. I traded Horizon's Tornado and Rockstopper and pretty much every slot I have is unique and my merc is full of uniques as well, and the character rocks, but the game ends there.. There is nothing left to do but endless Baal running for items to use on new characters. I quickly understood the flaw of Diablo2 again, it is too item-based of a game. Either you play without boss killing and trading and end up with a crappy character that can't progress, or you get the items and the game basically ends there as the actual fighting or exploring is not intensive enough to make you play for just that. This happened in a few days, I installed last week and my character is 81 with all the goddamn gear I just wished I had in D2 classic where my barbarian had his 178 damage rare 2H sword and was C-r-a-p.

I'm totally waiting for D3 to be a revival of the legend that D1 is. But I kind of have that gut feeling that D3 is going to be a sort of a mess.. It will probably have very bland gameplay complete with lame things such as unlimited respawning sources of enemies, cartoonish imagery, non-sensical enemies, overblown equipment and skills and other immersion-breakers. Dunno..

I logged here to snoop around. This is where I've fetched horadric cube recipes and long ago some builds..

Hi,well, I am 19 years old and I started playing Diablo 2 almost as soon as I bought my pc and I think I spent at least 2 years of my life on that game,it is great!I played with all characters except the female ones (my sister played with them) but my favorite still is the paladin.
Now,I look forward to play with Diablo 3,I really hope Blizzard will get down to work and release it FAST! Have you seen the trailers on the official site? It's wonderful, and Tyrael is always the best and coolest one!

Been playing Blizzard games since Diablo 1. Currently messing about with WoW, but looking for something else.

I'm the producer and a co-host of Octale and Hordak Versus the World podcast on WoW Radio. We've talked about D3 from time to time on the show. I have to admit I've been fairly disconnected from D3 since it was announced, so I'm injecting myself in these forums to get a feel for what communitites are saying about the game.

Hi Guys

Some of you may remember me, i have been quite active in the trading and the single player sections of the Diablo2 Forum. Well, some time ago. Probably around 5 years.

I started playing Blizzard games with Warcraft2. Back in those days, we played it on the playstation 1 ^^ I have been playing Blizzard games ever since. Diablo 2, warcraft 3, and finaly WoW. :whistling:

I am a moderator on the WoW forums here, but i stopped playing it because the game just didnt offer that many new and exciting things any more after more than 4 years of playing it. Surprise, eh ?

But with Diablo3 around the corner *crosses fingers*, i figured that i should get familiar with this forum again. It was a amazing source of information back then, and you guys are a amazing community. I hope i can become part of that again :)

My name is Sam, i am 30, getting married soon, i live in switzerland, speak german normaly and i work 50% in a little company, doing the accounting and surfing all day long :P

Hello everybody! I came into contact with the world of diablo late in the Diablo 1 hype. Some of my friends played it and after a while I started playing D1 on LANS. I played it enough to be hocked and when D2 was announced I knew that was the game for me. If D1 had me hocked, D2 pulled me out of the water and cooked me good ;) I still play it, mostly single players or if a friend decides to resurrect an old character in mp. If it becomes necessary I'll buy a new computer just to be able to play D3. :)

I have also been a faithful supporter of Blizzard, having played a lot of starcraft, warcraft 2 and some warcraft 1. Warcraft 3 and WoW i never really got into. W3 was a little to micro-management for a strategy game for me and WoW I simply didn't have time for. I'm also looking forward to starcraft 2, but not nearly as much as D3.

The AssAssassin
19-07-2009, 22:53
Hi, Y'all. My name is Rick, tho you might guess I favor the Assassin from my screen name. (And most of the A.I.s are dumba**es, even Diablo himself, so predictable: let's hope D3 gives us more of a surprise factor...) I've not posted, but been a longtime ghost in the machine. (It's kind of disappointing what I've seen about the goatmen. Punching bags. Meh. The archers were really troublesome in D1.)

Anyway, this is really about the only game I play, and on single player, and there are reasons for that.
About 2001, I picked the original Diablo out of a bargain bin for $10. I am a disabled Veteran, and hadn't played much with computers but found myself with a lot of sitting time. Distracted with pain time. Drugged time. This was the best thing. I didn't need to know what I was doing: click, click, click.
Hours went by. Didn't need so many damn pills. Didn't feel so bad. Better than anything on TV. The more I learned the better it got. I didn't need to memorize a booklet of controls just to start like some titles I just left on the shelf.
Then I found a D2 CD about the same way, and I was in hog heaven. Until the day I saw the Battle Chest. Better and better. I loved the charms, nothing like adding 75 HP of confidence before a Boss Battle. And the Sin: I've never got why so many have dissed the Traps. Wake of Fire with one Point is good for getting from Lvl 12 to 24: drop a couple, three hits with Cobra Strike and a Dragon Claw to the Unique and she's back to full health and mana. High power Lightning Sentry, Death Sentry, and Shadow Master to back up my shredding skills get me right through end of game.

Then came the only really bad experience: I decided to try out the Battlenet. I spent hours looking through chat screens for somebody who would let a low-level Sorceress join up (painfully slow dial-up). Finally I got a bite. But they lured me out of town and slaughtered her with one hit, then killed her every time she tried to get her body!
Then I finally gave up on my equipment, logged out, and went to find somebody to bi**h to about "murder" and "theft". ALL I got was a bunch of insults about being a noob and worse! This wasn't just a few idiots. I mean there were dozens of them, discussing me. I just finally said "to he!! with this" and never went back...

The thing about playing D2 is, for me, it's therapy. After exercises, or abuse, instead of another pill; I'm set up in a comfy chair, mouse table, handheld USB keypad, leg propped up on icepack, lost in the game, letting my mind recharge. I already can't wait for the next one. (Diablo four I mean )
I just don't need some griefer getting jollies off me!! I hope they come down more on the cheats in D3 too. I liked Divine Divinity for a while, then character editors came out and suddenly everyone was God's gift to Himself. Really.
Where's the fun if you CAN'T be hurt? Even by the baddest monster?

I've been playing Diablo 2 since it's release. I started on D1, was hooked instantly. I've been a huge fan of D2/SC/WC2&3 for ages and love them all. All hail Blizzard.

Also I'm a huge supporter & volunteer at my local animal shelter, think about it and try it ;). Feels good.

I've been playing D2X for about 4 years on and off. Got lost and played TQ for a bit when it came out (still can't get the map maker to work). I was going to get HGL but I think I missed something because I found out they were going to make it and then that the online server had closed...

Now I just trawl through D3 anouncements and, being a wierdo, play D'n'D

I first got introduced to D2 when I was about 5...in 2000 my brother (who was then about 12) used to play it. Later, when we moved we found some people who played LoD and had fairly high level characters. My first Diablo 2 character was a Barbarian who had a messed up skill build with a few points in almost everything. I played it on and off until about the age of 12 and also played some Diablo. Now, I'm REALLY excited that D3 is coming out.

Whoops, I haven't posted here, have I? I've been lurking diabloii.net for a pretty long time, I think I started visiting a few weeks after I started playing Diablo II.

I've been a big fan of Blizzard since Warcraft II, but I got into Diablo really late. I played through Diablo, D2, and LoD in sequence after buying the Battle Chest just after my first year of college in the summer of 2005. I've since graduated, but I still play co-op with mostly the same core group of people I know from high school and college, and I've soloed Hell with a few characters as well. Right now I'm just experimenting with different builds for fun and getting into the hype of Diablo III.

My favorite D1 class is the Sorcerer, my favorite D2 classes are the Druid, Barbarian, and Necromancer, and my favorite D3 class we've met so far is probably the Witch Doctor. And sorry if that's TL;DR, I'm wordy like that.

Another rookie 'ere... Well, rookie on these forums atleast, but no rookie when it comes to games. Not under any circumstances.

I'm Kristina. When I was 5, I got into games, thanks to my cousin who, dare I say, enlightened me by showing me this amazing activity. First game I ever played was Hexen II. I remember being afraid to die, being afraid of those darned knights in the courtyard... Silly kid as I was.

I got my first console at around 8. One of those super Sega consoles, with the original Super Mario and a dozen other games. First "Real" console I got after that was the PSX, at around the age of 11. Included in the box was Resident Evil 2, so I am very fond of that game series. I'm no stranger to most game series in fact, including Blizzard's. I played Starcraft at my cousin's when I was younger. I also got into Diablo and Diablo II, and have played those games excessively for many years. Then, several years ago, WoW came along, so I spent alot of time on that wonderful game... I'm shamed to admit it, but I never played the earlier Warcraft games, though I knew fairly well of them.

Anyway, I'm drawing this out far too much. Having been a fan of Diablo II, I am now completely stoked about Diablo III and eagerly await it's release date.

So, other than being a super-major-ultra-mega-nerd, I also go to college, like to write, watch geeky/funny shows, and am obsessed with the 90's.
I'm not going to detail every aspect of my life here, but I am an open and friendly person so if there's anything anyone wants to know, ask away.

Started with Diablo I, moved on to Diablo 2. Played that for about 7 years on and off. Played some WoW and HGL in between. Currently not really playing anything, besides some Call of Duty on XboX.

Actually, i failed to introduce myself to this time, so hey, Doppel's the (nick)name.
I'm naturally critical of things i'm interested in, so don't be surprised when i'm outspokenly critical about an aspect of the game, which i'm very interested in. Hell, its probably one of my most anticipated games and that means something because my interest in many of today's games has been in decline since the Oblivion era.
Played Diablo 1 when it came out (even played the Butcher demo), D2 some time after its release, but i started gaming way before Blizzard even started the production on Diablo and when Windows didn't even exist, was green behind the ears back then though. I'm not that happy about many ways Diablo is turning into, but still can't wait to get my hands on it. Cya.

(i also love the 90's btw)

Howdy,
I first got to play Diablo sometime late 1990s (possibly its release year, since I remember it being a newly released game then), when visiting a friend of my younger brother.
I was allowed to try it out and I rolled a warrior. My brother's friend exclaimed that I was pretty good at it (which I found odd, because I assumed anyone playing with a bit of caution and using common sense would have an easy time playing this) .... And then I met the Butcher and with him, my end :P

Diablo 2, I eagerly anticipated, but considered the game a huge letdown (note: while the basics are similar, I find the playstyle is completely different) and quickly tired of it.
Occasionally gave it a chance, but quickly gave up again (Act 1 is pretty dull to get through if you bring your Diablo 1 tactics over).

For a long while, I didn't touch Diablo 2, but then I met a friend who taught me a few things that made it a lot more fun (mutliplayer Diablo 2 rules), so I've been playing it quite a lot lately.

Diablo 3 got announced and initially, I wasn't too interested, as I believed it'd probably move further away from Diablo 1's playstyle and just go with the Diablo 2 gameplay style, since the latter is more popular, and combine it with Warcraft 3/WoW graphics, but as I gradually picked up on new info, I started getting excited about it. Big time.

Currently, I'm generally rather pleased with Diablo 3's direction, though there are always things one would want to improve. I'll try not to whine, but I will not and cannot make any unconditional promises :P
(Not worried about the art though, since in some ways, it's already looking gloomier than Diablo 2).

Oh yah, and if this post haven't clued you in, I tend to write really large, really long posts, as I tend to have lots on my mind ;)

My "gaming career" started off at the age of 8 with a Commodore 64, followed by NES, SNES, Amiga 500, PI, PII, PIII and so forth. I had a collection of +500 video games and played almost everything from jump 'n' runs to ego-shooters, (text)adventures, role playing, arcade and (real time) strategy games. Adventures (especially those from LucasArts) and RPGs (D&D / AD&D) used to be my most favorite, but really good new ones were at the edge of extinction and then came Diablo.

To be honest: at first I totally disliked the idea of such a "Fast-Food-Action-RPG" and boycotted it for at least half a year, because I was more interested in Story & Lore than Hack & Slay and I was sure it wouldn't last that long - just goes to show you never know. It was pretty popular in my circle of friends and therefor I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. :surprise: In the end I had to admit that Diablo was not only quite fun to play, but that it has revived the whole RPG genre...

Naturally I played Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction as well for quite some years, but got tired of it at some point and ignored it until Blizzard announced World of Warcraft. It helped me to kill time until the WoW Beta started and with the release of WoW, which embodied almost everything I have dreamed of since I was little, I didn't mind other games anyway.

When I was promoted as Head of R&D and my wife established a medical center, WoW simply became too time consuming and after two great years we made a pretty hard decision and turned our backs on WoW and our Guild. It was then when I looked for a game with the flexibility of Diablo, where I could either master the game by myself without being dependent on others, join (or leave) a party fast and easy, chat online with friends and have a great time without being tied up to the chair for several hours raiding instances. HG:L seemed to have everything I was looking for but left me pretty frustrated in the end due to various reasons and when I was just about to abandon hope, Blizzard announced Diablo 3 and patch 1.13. :cloud9:

I said it once and I'll say it again: Thus far DIII.net is the best Diablo 3 source in the web and I wish to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to the site staff as well as the DIII.net community. I was browsing this forum since 2008 and decided just recently that I could register as well, though I prefer to read threads instead of spamming posts all over the forum by myself. Talking about spam...guess it's finally time to stop annoying you. ;)

I started playing D2 in late 2000 as a barbarian and been a barb ever since. I have made atleast one of every type of barb imaginable, multiple sword barbs, polearms, warcryer, throw barb, frenzy barb. I pvp'd heavily and had the best pvp gear and charms in the game. I consider myself a barb expert. I quit D2 in mid/late 2004 and lost all my characters and gear from inactivity and i regret it.

With the arrival of D3, I look forward to learning all the new barbarian mechanics and once again becoming a master of the class. When I am not playing I will be on these forums helping out new barbarians with suggestions and class setups :).

Well, I guess I am the new guy here.

I go by Dux (or Duck, family nickname). I began my Diablo gaming playing a Paladin a couple weeks after D2 was released with my friend (a barbarian). I soon became a major player on Bnet (any remember a Paladin on USWest named Zaramos?). After retiring Zaramos I began a quest to play through the game and each difficulty with each decently passable build. Though some builds were incredibly tough (Skele/meleemancer was fun but hell). My goal was to play power builds (for "easy" play throughs) and gimp builds (for a good challenge).

The gimp builds were more of a side project when I wasn't playing one of my party builds. I was part of a Guild for a few years (Destruction of Sanity). DoS mostly looked to promote more friendly, mature party play than random public parties. When you play with friends you get more of a feeling of team work. When you kill Diablo and you pick up a rare wand that your Necro buddy would love, you don't mind handing it over without much more than a "thanks man!" Beats the hell out of some Sorc taking that piece to complete your set and holding it for a ridiculous price.

But, I ramble...

I am slowly starting up a spiritual successor to Destruction of Sanity (called Disciples of Sanctuary (http://disciplesofsanctuary.prophpbb.com/)). Right now I want to start it for a general D3 (and legacy games) discussion and setting up static parties. I am also looking to find some Role-Players who are interested in a Sanctuary based RP. I guess to use DIII.net for the official unofficial forum, and DoS as the more social forum.

Again, I ramble.

So that's me, a guy with a long Diablo 2 History who has played through Diablo a few times, who has a small (and hopefully growing D3 group). I also brew my own beer I call Duck Suds.

Greetings, I am Evo and I used to be a huge D2 addict, particularly the Amazon class. I played three Amazons (rerolled whenever the ladder was reset), a sorceress, a barbarian and a necromancer on USWest. All softcore. :p I was part of the Dexazon project if anyone has even heard of that.

I used to post a lot on dii.net too but my old handle (Evo) was taken at some point.

I currently play WoW but I'm on the verge of quitting. D3 can't come quickly enough!

I guess I had better post here, considering I just joined :P.

As far as gaming goes, the first one I played was the original Commander Keen from Apogee. Since then I have moved onto RPGs mostly because I find them more involving. That hasn't stopped me from loving a good FPS however.
In terms of Diablo, I am a single player nut simply because the lag is insane given my connection and distance from the servers (see Location at left). However I have taken Assassin, Amazon and Sorc all to Matriarch, with Druid and Necro sitting on Champion. As you may have noticed, casters are mostly my thing although the sneakyness of the Assassin made for some entertaining game time.

In D3, the wizard will be my first class, although the 5th one might be interesting (so long as it is not a Hunter style character - pet class ftnoob :D)

What am I playing now? Not a whole lot while I wait for something new and shiny to come out, although I have recently gone back to D2 and am playing WAR whenever I get bored. I also played FURY from Open Beta to the day it was shut down, so if you also played it, heya. :P

I have been a Diablo Player since Diablo I hit the scene, and have played DI, Hellfire, DII, DII LoD. I have been a long time member of this forum and its predecessor, though I do not post that often. I am a single player, and do not run online. Not for any game, so I am not picking on Diablo. :-) I just have more fun going it alone. My favorite DII classes are Paladin, Druid, Amazon, and occasionally Sorceress. Like everyone else I have been waiting a long time for DIII and most of what I see is exciting. Yes I have my bugaboos with the current character classes, but all that means is I might be waiting for the expansion before I take the DIII plunge.

Outside Diablo, I am an author, armorer, leather craftsman, story teller, poet. Yes those are my real professions and I earn a living at them.
